  1. I have a 2019 Tracer 900/GT OEM exhaust in very good condition available, for whoever is interested...used it only for 1000miles, before I swapped it for an Akra. Might be that shipping it will be costlier that I'm looking to get for it :)

  2. Another happy user of the Kettenmax Premium Set here. Been using it for 6 months now, making all brushes obsolete. The S100 chain lube included in the package really made me aware of the quality of their products. The one included in the package is manufactured in Germany and it seems that is not available in US, unfortunately...

  3. The problem with this type of device is that you are mobile network dependent. It happened so often to I traveled to areas  that had no GSM signal at all, or even within a big city, sometimes I get voice mails as people calling me cannot reach me (network traffic congestion, skyscrapers....) don't know, but happened way to often for me not having signal either within cities or in the mountains to consider a GSM based notification device

Sorry to hear its out of stock, 8-10 days might be better than ordering from Europe though?

You'd be surprised, but most of the motorcycle webshops in Europe, besides having way better prices than the likes of Revzilla and such (for anything European manufactured) are delivering by DHL Express, that usually implies a 4 calendar days delivery (2-3 business days, guaranteed delivery). In this particular case, it isn;t worthy of ordering some 3-4L of oil only, but when it comes to higher value orders (that do include free shipping), it makes all the sense in the world to order from Spain, Italy or even Germany :)

  5. Yes, buying an extra 1L can of oil is definitely what I did now, problem is that I am using Motul 7100 10W50 and that is not really readily available here in US as it is in Europe, and the delivery will take aprox. 1 month. I only had 3L, as I was prepared for a regular oil changed, but then I realized I need to change the oil pan to a (very) small crack and let the oil drain for 3 days. Even though I do not expect all oil to have drained from the engine, changing the oil pan also meas that I should probably go for a bit more than the 2.7L litres recommended when replacing the oil filter.

Thanks for sharing your experience with the oil level!

  6. Can someone tell me, please, what is the oil quantity that has to be filled in after changing the oil pan? Asking as I only have 3 x 1L (total of 3.17 quarts) cans of oil and with the oil pan and oil filter being brand new, just wondering if I would need a total of 3.4L (3.59 quarts), as the service manual mentions this value for the disassembled assembly.

The under seat tray is not 100% waterproof or immune to dust and dirt.  I don't think slightly trimming the plastic will have any noticeable adverse effects.

For me, the seat tray proved to be sealing the underseat area pretty good so far (no dirt found in there after 6 months, just some inevitable dust). It seems like Shad messed up with the paper cutout model, too - as that it's bit longer and wider than the actual plastic piece that has to be cut. I will start cutting at 1inch from the base and remove any excess material by using the Dremel or some sandpaper - in a step by step approach to have a perfectly trimmed slit.

But until then, waiting on Shad Spain to sort  me out by sending me an answer regarding the left hand side plate, as I bough these from a Spain website. I heard Shad US is not much better in terms of customer service...

No difference between 2018 and 2019/2020 right?

If in doubt, watch me mounting the top case rack. The side bracket are identical (I also have the 3P side cases )

Thanks a lot, @TheBigG! Yes, no difference between European 2018 Tracer 900 and 2019/2020 US Tracer 900/GT, as US most of the times gets their models 1 year later than Europe/Australia/Japan (if ever - Tracer 700 is not available here, yet).

It seems like Shad sent me 2 right hand side metal plates mounts, instead of one right hand side and one left hand side (pic below), so however I try installing it, the left hand side plate will have the L-shape plate pointing outwards, not inwards (like the right hand side one). I dropped Shad an email, but as they only use a contact form that doesn't allow attachments, I had to wait on them to reply to me from an email address and got back t them with the pics.

Also, I am interested, after cutting through the Yamaha plastic piece, to make room for the L-Shape mount, how much of a space the slit has now - is it allowing dirt getting under the seat now?

There's a slimmer profile mount for the SH36's!?! Do you have a part number?

I'm about to hit up SHAD's website.

Edit: "slimmer" mount is for '18s and '19s only.

The slimmer Shad 3P profile mount is for SH35 and SH36 sidebags only and its PN is YOTC98IF. Indeed, that is for Tracer 90p (not FJ-09) 2018 and up.

  10. That is the correct piece, for sure. There are 3P mount systems for the Tracer 900, a wider one (thr one your posted), and a slimmer profile one (that only accepts SH35/36 case, not the SH23 ones) that doesn't need any additional part to connect to the footpegts (the mointing tubular L shaped bars connect only through a bolt to the footpegs). Schematics attached (fig. 15)

  11. Resurecting this topic to ask if anyone tried fitting the Shad 3P system on a 2019/2020 Tracer 900/GT?

It is mentioned in the user instructions that you need to cut the 2 lateral plastic "wings" from the Yamaha sidecases original sidecases plastic mount (that do have a role of supporting the undertail plastic plate in place) with a rotary cutting tool (Dremel).

Also, it seems like you need to replace the Yamaha original metal plates behind the OEM sidecase mounts with Shad plates. It seems as I was sent two identical right hand plates, instead of a left and right one - with one L shape mount oriented outwards and the other one inwards (as it should be the case, apparently). Attaching the pic with the parts in question, as well as the left hand side one, with the L mount pointing onwards (when it should actually point inwards, but it's identical with the right hand side one).

  12. Hello everyone! New to the Tracer 900 and to VA (actually, to US), currently living in Herndon/Reston area - very happy to discover the beautiful roads Virginia has to offer for a motorcyclist here (coming from an almost 2 years motorcycle paradise that Western Cape region in South Africa was), and some many other years in Europe. Would be interested if anyone can share some recommendations for some good and affordable (at least compared to the Yamaha dealerships) service shops in the Reston area (including a motorcycle tire shop, that I currently need), as it my experience with dealers so far has left a lot to be desired :)
