  1. I've ridden out West and yeah there are indeed some spectacular roads and scenery, but I much prefer the roads overall in Tenn/NC/WV/VA and Northern GA "and it's much much closer for me". The dragon is indeed overrated and over ridden, hell I don't even mention that road when talking about great roads to ride.

Yea I would be in the same boat. I was originally considering the Super Tenere but couldn't get or find a new model during the pandemic. So instead I opted for the new Tracer which I'm totally happy to have. But would still love to have a T7 for the off road capability, so having CC and heated grips would tip me over.

Yeah I hear ya, have owned a Vstrom 650, DR650 and a WR250......so many great off pavement roads in Ohio I miss exploring.

  3. I'm pretty sure that most OEM's are building bikes that people want. The FJR and the Super Ten are a bit outdated machines no matter how good they still may be, the new Tracer is Yamaha's flagship sport touring bike now........how or why is that a problem? Keep your older FJ9 or Tracer if you like it that much, but folks I hate to break it to ya........technology isn't slowing down just because a few don't like what features and gadgets come on bikes now. Should be plenty of lower mileage "classic" Tracers out there for the owners that want less, the rest of us will get with the times and enjoy such.......it is what it is. The T7 has been a HUGE success for Yamaha, and that machine for sure isn't loaded with all the gizmos and tech, they built a bike that many were indeed asking for. Most owners don't put many miles on their bikes overall, so again there are plenty of lower mileage well maintained classic machines out there to buy on the cheap. ;)

Look at all the tech on full blown sport bikes now, I am sure that most owners aren't complaining about that.

Getting a little to junked up.... do not need or want ACC or radar braking, nor the C$20,700 price.  Yes it needed a new display the prior split screens were "weird".  Keep it simple Yamaha, who do you think you are competing with, BMW?

On par or even better perhaps? Yamaha is the one Japanese company that is offering similar bikes and specs to the Euro stuff.........KEEP IT UP!!!!

  5. Sorry......but HD is totally in the shitehole far as I am concerned, they could do so much more but yet continue to do mostly the same. At least Indian is thinking outside the box, however they too could also be leaning into the sport and sport touring or even perhaps ADV machine markets as well........DAMN SHAME.

  6. You just don't tap into or compromise wiring, in particular a CANBUS system. You can't see the front of bike while riding, so if you are just wanting more additional lighting for overall visibility of cage drivers, then I would just add some LED lighting. Honestly additional lighting doesn't even help much with that, but the SMIDSY maneuver does work very well in freezing cage drivers in their tracks. Background camouflage is our worst enemy, and doing the slight weave I mentioned is something I always use anytime I see a cage driver inching out of an intersection........IT WORKS.

Traffic and drivers certainly played into my decision as well.  Thought about a Tenere 700 a number of times.  My Tracer 900 GT didn't like gravel roads (may have been me) and I've wondered how much better a Tenere 700 would have been on gravel.  Now I have 4 wheels so won't fall over LOL.

Ample vids on youtube of just how capable off pavement the T7 is..........and it is very very capable, more so than most riders would be willing to do.

It is either hitting or not…….seems like, aint the same as it is ……

If you cant tell if it is hitting, thats a issue.

Trying to go past the steering stop is a issue since you cant.

Not everything is a product issue……sometimes the owner is the issue.

You really come across as a jerk in the majority of your posts, I have to wonder how you would speak face to face?

I'm thinking about trying the Yamaha tall screen for the bike for longer rides as I'm sure the fitment will he spot on.  I'm growing ever more leary of "aftermarket" motorcycle parts as MOST of the ones I've bought over the years turn out to be of inferior quality to the OEM.

Over the years and owning many bikes, I will say that aftermarket is usually superior to OEM. ;)  All you need to do is slightly loosen the 4 pinch bolts at the bar, rotate the bar back and bit and then torque/tighten them back up.......easy peezy.
