I have a half cover from Gears on my FJ-09. It packs very small and is great for touring. It works well to slip the rear end over the top case plate, but not the top case or the side cases. I will typically bring the top case with me to the motel, and leave the side cases on the bike. I will bring just the side case liners/bags. The cases are watertight, so overall that works out well for me.

They also have the full cover, but that's usually quite a bag. If you're meaning to cover the bike at home then this might be the solution for you. For touring, I'd use a half cover. One I have on the bike is no longer sold, but there are others.

There is no escaping morning dew in my experience.

Never had an issue with rain or morning dew, even with that Oxford half cover.

main dealer price will be about £700. my tenere cost me £600 and that was just to check. all in tolerance. they didnt give me the chance to say set the clearances to top limit. they just put the lid on it and said its ok....grrr.

I have serious doubts they were ALL in tolerance, it's a big job and most techs don't want to do it right. Many prices to check/adjust here in the US can exceed $1000 for that job.

  3. I don't want anyone to take what I am saying or sharing as truth, take the time and research it for yourself "most still won't, they like to be spoon fed by so called APPROVED trusted sources".......even the NY Times is publishing articles discussing such, the information/data and people affected worldwide is very real. Japan is taking measures against the data they are witnessing as well, and insurance actuaries cannot logically explain the unheard data/statistics they are witnessing. Died suddenly, blood clots, myocarditis, TURBO CANCERS, neurological issues, overall compromised immune systems.....etc. But yeah, not like social media platforms are rampantly censoring people and search engines being manipulated.

I left healthcare last August after working in such for 20 years, the shit I have witnessed for myself and what I have been put through......aren't conspiracies. Good luck in whatever y'all do or believe, but question everything you are told not to question. ;)

    Hmmm

Have you checked for studies made under the auspicious of the NIH, Mayo, and or other well recognized medical research institutions?

There's of course a lot of Baloney out there

When you have a bad episode,  does it hurt or do you have numbness and loss of function?

Just as much lying/deceiving to the public from touted "trusted sources" as well.......add me to the list of growing people that will NEVER trust those sources again. When you actually know folks that were fine and dandy before they got the shots I shall not name, how can you not ask questions or have concerns? I never got them by the way, nobody in my immediate family did. I am also not a conspiracy theorist, I am a person of science and discovery........which is "slowly" starting to back some wrongly accused conspiracies up. Legions all over the world have compromised immune systems now, so the questions and concerns as to why are very real. Hope y'all suffering from this ailment can get some relief or at minimum keep under control, it doesn't sound pleasant at all.

  5. I like and have much respect for HD, that particular model isn't my cup of tea, but can see the merit and reasons as to why you like it. My buddy is sure loving his new Pan America "Dirt glide" as he calls it, definitely quite a machine and very well designed and reputable.

  6. Big difference between the original factory rack and Yamaha top case rack, and yeah I am under the impression that both are out of stock "glad I got mine last year". There are plenty of options for aftermarket like Shad/Givi/SW Motech, might go to Revzilla or Twisted Throttle if haven't yet. Good luck......lots of goodies out of stock these days.

Yeah, the AGM battery in these bikes is very, very small for the application, and once it starts to decline at all, the party is over. There are also a lot of cheapies out there that are marginal out of the box.

That said, this bike is also one of many with onboard gnomes that inexplicably like to loosen the battery terminals for no reason. Always worth checking that if you get the clicky-click.

Also, never leave a small battery (especially one this small) on a maintainer or "tender" all winter, and don't plug it in if the bike is being ridden at least every week or two. Just hook it up for a few hours every month or so during the dark times and that'll be plenty. The constant "topping up" will drastically speed the battery's demise.

FWIW, in the USA O'Reilly Auto sells a very nice quality AGM battery made by Deka, which is a large cut above the generic cheapies sold at the other parts stores. Look for the distinctive light gray case and beefy terminals

This the one? If so, it gets pretty unfavorable reviews from what I read, they say it does fit well however.

Theory is that Honda is trying not to step on Africa Twin sales by equipping the Transalp too well.  Basic suspension,  no CC, no IMU, etc.

That makes some sense, but perhaps they could make one higher tiered model with a price to match? Kind of like what Yamaha has done with the MT-09, when compared to the MT-09 SP. Kind of surprised Yamaha hasn't done that with the Tenere 7, in particular since the outdated Super Tenere doesn't sell so well these days. That engine in your bike is worth buying just for that reason alone, but I understand that both the Yamaha and Suzuki parallel twins are pretty nice as well......but Honda nailed it.

So much speculation (and whining 😉) about the lack of CC.   Like I mentioned though, the Veridian system is affordable.   There's other, more upscale, CC options too.  Like most bikes, there's lots of areas of the bike to upgrade/modify to make it suit you.  I bet there's a lot of people that buy bikes and just ride them as they are from the dealership ... until they start hanging out on forums and "learn" about all the bike's shortcomings.   😁

Any shortcomings are always in the eyes of the beholder, but factory cruise "for me" is now something I can't ride without. Doubt there are alot of people that buy motorcycles and keep them dealership stock for long, and that was occurring long long before forums. ;)

I really like the Trans Alp overall and it should be a homerun for Honda, sounds like you are liking your choice of machine as well.
