Slap some ACF-50 on the bike and get out there!

You're right though, I can't believe how much salt brine is still left in some of the counties I've ridden through these past few weeks.

No way, have a perfectly good old car to get salt on. :) I will get out hopefully a bit on Sunday, raining today and will help clean off all the muck a bit.

  2. Agree that I am not overall a fan of the latest RPHA 71, which is why I opted for the 70 Carbon instead "got it for a steal too". :) Hopefully my helmet lasts for years to come, and whatever changes HJC makes to the RPHA series going forward, they take critical feedback from consumers. It is interesting that some of the best deals on Shoei or Arai here stateside, can be had ordering from Europe.

  3. Wow that blows, my RPHA 70 carbon came with a pinlock insert........but they are not expensive, sucks you have to purchase separately but at least the visor is equipped for such. I don't think all Shoei and Arai come with Pinlock inserts either, but are also Pinlock ready?

Agreed.  Although some might say what price do put on your head comfort, safety and quality level.

But yea, very expen$ive.  I for one will certainly be looking harder at equivalents when the time comes around again.

Helmet price isn't really about safety, it's mostly about fit/finish/comfort/weight and optical clarity of the visor. That is why I like the HJC RPHA series so much, you get a high-end helmet without quite the Shoei and Arai price tag.

@Ride365 - I’ll be interested in hearing your opinion of the RS3…. I never really bonded with the feedback from the front, and never quite found the setup that made it work FOR ME as well as the Michelins.   Finding a pair of Road 5s for $320 made it an easy decision for me to swap back.   I guess I’m just a Michelin guy… 🤷‍♂️

Here is some specific feedback on my comparison of the two:

I am very much happy with the RS3's, think they are gonna be my go to tire for the time being. :)

I purchased at the other "Zilla" partszilla and only found out the case was not available after they shipped the rest of my order. I'll just have to return the mount since Revzilla doesn't show the Yamaha 39L case just a Shad.

Revzilla just looks to be out of stock, and the exact Yamaha case I ordered and received.

Also.....the case is the same part# for the FJ-09 to the Tracer GT's, it is the rack differences in which how it mounts to the bike.

  7. Why can't you be bothered to phuck around with the quick shifter? And I have news for ya.......you will have to adjust the linkage if you go with another set of pegs. ;) I agree that the seat is the likely culprit, being pushed towards the tank puts alot of pressure on the taint and the twig/berries.

    THIS!  100% this… 😀

I bought my new Cadillac with a good old 6-speed manual, and couldn’t be happier.  Yes, it’s a ‘better’ car in every measurable way with the available 10-speed automatic, and I couldn’t care less… it’s the visceral experience of being actively engaged in the drive, not just passively along for the ride.   Same on the bikes:  I’ve ridden a Honda DCT, and am very impressed with the technology, but it’s just not quite for me.  Yet.  Your mileage may vary…

I had the option of a 6 speed manual for my car, but I've been there and done that a few times over the years and it SUCKS in heavy traffic or a jam......I'll happily shift my motorcycles however. :) Also.......DCT/DSG cars are quicker than the manual version, and they shift/act like a manual anyways, just alot faster and more efficient. ;)

Just growing pains within the fan-base. It took years of cars putting up faster lap and strip times for people to finally accept DCTs. The computer is always going to shift perfectly; and if you want or need to manage the RPMs there's nothing wrong with paddle shifters (or buttons/triggers on a motorcycle).

If someone entered a partnership and put VW DCTs in a motorcycle I'd put a deposit down immediately; I'm actually a bit surprised Harley Davidson hasn't tried to rekindle their relationship with Porsche and make a DCT for their bikes. Anecdotally, my step-father is finding it harder to operate the heavy clutch on his 1998 Heritage Softail Classic as he gets older, and that is another drop in the bucket in considering giving up riding.

Yup.....I am loving my new KIA Forte GT with the DCT 7 speed, also fun to shift with the paddles. That car is "just sporty enough" as it handles great and can run low 6 second 0-60 times consistently, with a tune it will pull easy mid 5's and the quarter at over 100. My buddy had an Africa Twin with the DCT and he said "it's a game changer, and Honda has perfected it".

Im starting to see a lot of these Dunlop Mutant tires going on sport/ tourer bikes (more than just this forum).  For those of you using them, how is wear life compared to traditional sport tires?  These interest me so I dont shy away from some light dirt road riding and miss out on any site seeing while Im out exploring.  I def dont want to make this into and ADV bike though.

No worries there, as it most certainly isn't an ADV bike.

  11. Replacing the crush washer is wasting a perfectly good washer, I have owned many motorcycles in my life and have never replaced one, never stripped out a pan, and never had a drop of oil leak from the bolt. Yamaha has other incorrect/insane torque ratings in the manual, and using those ratings has caused a few issues for folks. Of course in saying that......do as you wish and good luck.

  12. I have mostly run Motul 7100 full synthetic since first change, and I found everything mechanical engine noise to be less with this oil, also the shifting is butter and stays that way clear up to the change. I will admit that Belray semi syn also shifted nice and had quiet engine mechanical noise as well, but I just like that blood red oil too much. LOL

Perhaps the OP should do as he mentioned, swap out the oil for regular Yamalube dino and see what happens.
