Sorry for the late reply...like mingo, I rented a '23 GT+ on an Edelweiss tour, the Saint James Way.  (On an earlier Edelweiss tour, I rode a Tracer 900GT and then traded in my FJ-09 for a new Tracer 900GT).

I had some trouble with the GT+ rental; it was stuck in Rain mode until eventually the Mode button started working (the Machine Settings stayed greyed out most of the time).  Connecting my phone to the TFT was fussy, but it eventually worked.  Everything else on the bike worked great.

Back in the States, I rode a demo unit at Barber's and that sealed the deal.

I kept watch on Cycle Trader and I could see Yamaha was shipping the bikes to dealers.  I struck a deal with my local dealer and got a decent trade-in on the 900GT.  COVID-era sales and negotiations are over.  Heck, there was even a T7 on the floor for sale!

I have only 600 miles on the bike so far.  TFT, phone, and helmet config was a breeze.  The Yamaha top box platform for the rack doesn't seem to be available anywhere.

Got my OEM case/rack from Revzilla, took a few weeks is all.

I just read that waterproof gloves will no longer be waterproof, if used with heated grips in the rain. Anyone experience this?

It seems this is not an issue for heated gloves as the heat is inside, whereas heated grips provide heat from the outside.

Who has  the scientific explanation for this?

I personally have yet to find a waterproof glove, although what I do have is quite good and am bummed no longer made "imagine that". Heated gloves are too bulky for me, I like as much dexterity as possible when I ride.

  3. I have used multiple vendors for heated grips on multiple bikes, and I have found that the OEM Yamaha grips which came on my 20 GT, heat quicker and more evenly than others mentioned "nice grip system as well". I like that mine can be controlled from the menu screen, and can even adjust the intensity at each level.

I do like Zack's reviews and it's kinda cool that he's pretty impressed with the TA.

Have to agree that it's on the top of my ratings board too.  😁

That was a good review, must say I am starting to overall dig that bike. Were I to add another bike to the garage along side my Tracer, going back to an ADV machine, I'd be hard pressed to pass that up.

I will add that WP suspension on KTM and Husqvarna, electronic or not, is pretty kick ass. The Austrians definitely got it dialed.

Indeed, my buddy's KTM 790 has amazing stock suspension. Another buddy of mine got a new Africa twin with ESA, and he had to replace all springs for his 220 pound body, now he has a 23 BMW R1250GS adventure with ESA and he say's it is PERFECT right off the assembly line.

I would shy away from electronic suspension unless you are the guy they designed it for..... lighter weight touring rider type.  150-160 lbs. and doesn't push the limits.  The majority of bikes are undersprung, damping adjustments only by a formula they determined was good enough but likely isn't, some higher end bikes the exception.  But, manual suspension gives you the best shot at upgrading it to suit you.  IMHO you don't need to be playing with buttons for every road condition you come across, but some need their toys and will pay extra for them.

Not the Euro bikes like Ducati/Triumph/BMW......their ESA suspensions have heavier springs, but yeah the Japanese spring rates for most they make are too light for bigger American bodies.

They move quite a bit during the first interval. But that’s true of many engines. I’d do the first one early and then take a cooler approach.

Interval is like 26600 I believe, and that is insane mileage for a valve check......so I call BS on Yamaha's interval and what those motorcycle mechanics say. I don't baby this engine either, which I'd imagine would shorten up that interval mileage as well? I am almost at 17K miles, am thinking of 20K miles for the first check.
