  1. I think as @wanderer pointed out, the west coast is fairly large and to account for everyone that could reasonably fit the definition would be a hassle. A weekend meetup makes sense but some may need to bookend the weekend with days off to account for travel still. Throw something at the calendar with a few that say yes and then let it grow year over year.

Ooh, if you get that done, I'd sure be interested in your insights. Testriding the S1000XR has left me dreaming about those brakes. You may already have done this but EBC HH brake pads are a cheap and very obvious upgrade and it's the first thing that I'll do on my 9. My 900 with those pads clearly has better brakes than both 9's that I rode, even with that upgraded master cylinder on the 9.

Well, I still haven't replaced the line or the pads 🤫. I did give it a good bleed and changed out the fluid and it helped a bit but I am still left wanting more. I will check those pads out for sure though. I still have meat left on the originals only being at 11k but I will probably let it be the last season if I am going to go around the whole system. Thanks for you research!

EDIT: The consensus seems to be that about 70-80 foot-pounds is more than enough, and is what some other brands with the same size axle use. I use my educated elbow...

Yamaha has a weird penchant for insanely high torque specs, (not to mention the super-bad and wrong spec for very little chain slack) so use your brains out there, mmkayyy?

The 21' has it listed at 77 foot pounds, so that's a plus. I am still unsure if I am happy with their updated chain slack spec.

  4. I'm definitely curious about this as well. Having only owned the 9GT I am not sure what I can order that would work for both. So far I've only switched out the stock screen for a smaller screen for less buffeting on the helmet and some airflow in the summer.

I'm not much of a farkler but I definitely want a braided brake line, I think after 8k miles it's time. Might was well switch out the levers though if someone knows the fit. I'll check back in.

Cool beans. Pm me for details.

I wouldn't wait on me on this. If you have a sale, go for it!

As far as this Tracer, I expected to need a Corbin ASAP, but as miles have piled up, I find the stock saddle to be not bad at all. I’m actually holding back on the Corbin for now, wait and see.

I was curious when I first got the bike having heard about the previous versions and the saddle issues. I didn't know if I would have to look into the aftermarket for a new seat or not. I too have been pleasantly surprised with the seat as far as stock seats go. I do need to give it a good look over though after this past weekend though. The seat seemed to have more play than it should have in a few corners.

I've never had a Corbin but have really only ever heard good things which is good considering the price. Always sounds like money well spent.

  7. Looks like you have fixed the issue. I was going to find my instructions for you. When I received my bike back at the end of June '21 they didn't have the bags ready yet but they sent me home with the cylinders for the panniers. I received the panniers in maybe August and installed the locks myself. The instructions seemed pretty straight forward and the extra bits were there for myself as well. They panniers have held up well enough but I haven't used them on any trips longer than a few days. I am satisfied with them overall.

GOOD GOD MAN, $500 for a set of tires? 😲   I don't think I have ever paid $300 including tax for a set of tires.

To be fair, at this point neither have I. I have only ordered tires from Revzilla though. Their customer service has been fantastic for me with all products and I value that. That said, I should probably shop around more. For example just looking around I found the t32  for the rear for $178 vs. the currently listed price on Revzilla of $237. I found some even lower prices, though out of stock. When I replaced the rear last time I was in a rush and Revzilla helped with that. Definitely worth looking around going forward though.

Where are you finding the Road 6 for that price?  In the standard sizing I'm finding the Road 6 is about $160 more per set than the T32 and in the more obscure "adventure" sizing for my VFR the Road 6 is about $260 more per set.

Is inquiring minds want to know where you're finding those cheap prices believe me

You all had me nervous so I checked my math again. I was using RevZilla.

    Front, Rear Total $494.30

    Edit: I am sizing for 120/70ZR17 58W and 18/55ZR17 73W

Actually, if I where looking for value now, I'd probably just get a set of Road 5's - they're a lot cheaper now that 6's are out.  But I wanted to try the new tires.

It's funny, I was pricing out tires the other day and I still have my chicken scratch on my desk. The new road 6's were only $71.42 USD more for a pair of the T32's. While the road 5's were only $3.38 USD more than the T32's. It definitely got me thinking to maybe try a Michelin on my next go around. Can't afford not to!

That said, I have only had the T32's on my tracer and I have found them to be good so far. The handling has been pretty great and I have had no issue with traction that I have noticed through all weather, including "graupel" last week (yes I had to look it up)! I was robbed of the chance to test the mileage on the rear as I had a flat and decided to just throw a tire on rather than worry about a plug and patch after 5k miles.

  11. Had my recall service done last Friday, it should only take about 30 minutes. I hung out with the tech while he flashed the ecu and replaced the bar end with a washer on it that is supposed to protect the throttle tube. Bike rides the same as before. 🤷‍♂️

How is the 9GT for giving off heat in hot weather?  My previous bike would put off a lot of heat but my 900 GT does not.  Of course if stopped and the fan comes on it will put heat on the rider but never a problem with heat when moving.  I figure the 9GT will be similar.

Last summer I did a west coast tour in July and had some pretty warm temperatures with long hours on the bike. It was pretty comfortable for it! Same experience as the 900 it seems. This past weekend which was probably the coldest temperatures I have rode on this bike I tried to see where the warm spots were and It wasn't really much relief. Thank goodness for grip warmers.

  13. I was finally able to take mine out of hibernation here in N. Idaho and make a trip down into Washington for the weekend. No better feeling. I had looked at the weather report and it had possibilities of "snow flurries" the morning of my return. I figured it'd either be melted off by the afternoon or something, in all honesty I didn't care about plan B because I was just ready. No more sheet of ice on my north aspect driveway and the roads were clear only slight sprinkles to contend with here and there. Left my place at 3C and had 10C by time I made it to my destination, sweating weather. The season is here!

  14. Scorpion EXO Tempest Gloves

My only real experience with winter gloves/waterproof gloves but I have had 3 seasons with them and they seem to have done alright. I used them over Snoqualmie Pass in mid November on an Indian Scout (No handwarmers, no wind protection) and though they weren't perfect they held up. On my Tracer with hand warmers and wind protection I have had no issues with cold fingers, but I haven't had many cold days on the Tracer yet. I don't know how they measure up in terms of bulk, they are obviously bulkier than my other gloves but not to the point where it's fatiguing.
