When I bought the 2020 the sales person said that one should be there in May. I can talk to them probably today as they should have my 2020 brake switch changed out.

I think I looked at your bike back in October when I was waiting to hear more about the '21. Currently trying to get a dealership on the other end of the lake to to bring one in and they have been saying May as well, last time I went in was on the 1st. Let us know what you hear!

    @MightBeSasquatch - what's your FB handle?

Not sure, I don't actually post in them, just lurk for information. 👀🤣

The press launch is not what sold me on the 2020 Tracer. I really had no intention of buying a new bike ( I have been restoring, riding and flipping bikes 20 years) until I seen one on you tube and then did some research...and I was sold.

    EDIT: Riding 35 years

That's fair, I wasn't in the position to buy a new bike until this season and I was all about the goo GT, and then I saw the 2021 and I am just like a kid waiting for Christmas. Whatever reports come out in this round of reports, I doubt there will be anything negative enough to sway my small brain from this purchase. I just want something to hold me over until delivery.

Agreed, great review.  That is up in my neck of the woods, the Columbia River Gorge is an amazing location for a motorcycle test ride.

I'm a bit biased towards the scenery as well! We are often spoiled with route options around these parts.

So, someone on one of the many Tracer FB groups posted that "a journalist on the paddock podcast said he will be attending the launch of the Tracer 9 next week" No additional details at this point...but hopefully that means some better reviews than the text-to-voice bot crap that's out there now with re-hashed Yamaha promotional footage! 🙂

I'm in that group as well and saw that🤣. I spent a few minutes looking up what this launch event was and I couldn't find any information. I'm hoping it has plenty of reports to come from it though. I really liked the write up Lemmy did for Revzilla in 2019 for the Tracer.

Whatever happened to @Darold? He started this monster thread and then vanished! 🙂

Looks like he may be living in an area where riding seasons don't exist. He is probably off somewhere killing corners and slaying straight-aways,. a true hero.

Retail pricing is $23,299.00 drive away with 12 months rego, etc. which at current exchange rates, equates to about $18K USD so we'll be paying a USD $3K premium for the privilege, compared to the good ol' USA. But maybe the US pricing doesn't include sales tax, rego and dealer delivery fees, which would make the difference closer to $1500, which I guess is tolerable.

Out the door with tax, title and doc fees here is $15,906.58. Won't be paying delivery fees, fortunately, which runs 300-500 here.

  7. Awesome that you were able to get out. I live up in the panhandle and I just can't risk it this time of year with shady bends that'll hold ice or sand. I am going to have to check out Norwest with the positive comments in this thread, just for my own enlightenment.

Edit: found this - "Also, the ratios for 1st and 2nd gears are incrementally higher than in the older inline-3’s transmission" and this " first and second gear ratios have been revised to match the increase in torque at lower engine RPM with smoother gear changes courtesy of a redesigned shift fork."

    Sounds positive, right?

That is all I have seen from UltimateMotorcycling. I am hoping they have some sort of media/demo day prior to my bike coming in so that I can having something to read and hold me over while the snow falls. Hopefully if that occurs a bit more can be answered as well.

Welcome and enjoy your new ride. Like many at times I've had up to 3 bikes in the stable. For many years always had dirt bikes around and raced armature motocross also. Now since retired I went with the 900 GT and enjoy splitting time with it and an 04 GTO that I have . Of course the GT usually gets the nod. This is the first Yamaha I have owned after decades of Honda and Truly enjoy the GT 900.

What is this mysterious 'retirement' you speak of?! Congratulations though and thanks for the welcome!

That has been my mantra in the past year, "try to discover a new road on this ride".  Even though I have many favorite destinations or 'regular routes' I have discovered a lot of alternate routes, some destined to become new favorites.

To be fair, you need alternate routes out there unless sitting still is your thing 😂.

Congrats on your new owned Tracer GT, nearly plunge on an Indian scout, in my opinion the looks kills any Harley off. Sadly the dealer here is very weak with not many on the road, dont want to be stuck/park my bike just because of one screw/nuts missing due no stock. As for Tracer, plenty spares parts all over the country.

If you ever get the chance to get a scout, go for it. The nuts and bolts are metric! It's a fun little cruiser, fairly reliable too. Take a look at @motogypsy on instagram, she has been touring with the 60ci model down in South America. I'm not much of a Harley vs. Indian kinda guy either, but MotoAmerica did a sweet one-off race with baggers (stock baggers that were stuffed with 75k-125k). Entertaining as all get out, I want to see some metric cruisers in the next one.

I just got back from the dealership to see if the acknowledgement order went through, everything is on track for the Tracer, so I am stoked to the gills! It is going to be a rough winter waiting 🤣.

Here are just a few recommendations in Idaho, it would take me forever to list all of the good riding in Oregon... 👍

Lolo Pass is considered by many to be a 'bucket list' ride.

Old Highway 95 over White Bird Grade

    Grimes Pass/ Stanley/ Sun Valley

I drove Lolo back in 2019 when I was still on the west side and that was the first thing I thought of! Thanks for the other suggestions, I will take that White Bird Grade for sure on my way south this summer, good find!

Welcome, congrats on the new bike this coming Spring. (unless they release them earlier)

From your location, there is amazing riding in every direction, between Washington, Oregon, Northern California, Western Montana and Idaho, the riding here in the PNW cant be beat.  If you have never been, I HIGHLY encourage you to spend a lot of time in Oregon and Northern California, many members here that would be more than happy to recommend amazing routes for your Summer trip. 👍

I won't ever say no to recommendations, as you know though, plans are temporary things... 😂 I actually used to live in the south sound area! Many fond memories seeing how many passes we could hit in a day. Just learning some of the newer territory here in Idaho now.

Good Job! Lurking is like stalking, might as well introduce yourself.

Welcome! I just cut back from multiple bikes for a long time to just my FJ-09. It would have to be a versatile bike like the FJ-09.

Stalking seems pretty squatchy... but I wouldn’t want to have that label so early in my existence here 😂

I'm after a 2nd & possibly 3rd bike for all the same reasons as you - to ride in different terrain, and in case my dad comes for a visit.  I nearly kept my V-Strom just for him!!

Glad you found a Tracer...they're not quite a UJM, but very nearly.

Always a good plan! One for every occasion! You should encourage your father to keep a spare for you as well ;)
