Developers don't do any work or updates in the Hundreds of dollars, its always in the thousands, each time.

:cough: :cough: Thousands would be just to read the specs...

A project like this costs hundreds of thousands if not millions... and I'm pretty sure it would need at least 1 or 2 years for a single developer to have just a prototye...

Just remember that companies like Garmin, TomTom, etc have hundreds of developers working on those!

Yes, like @CRFan250 stated, I do it with the cap removed so I can watch the coolant level.

Yes run it with the cap off until the Thermostat opens...you will know because the coolant will start circulating and the level will drop. Keep filing until it stabilizes and put the cap back on.

Thanks! Will do next time! Shall I expect some coolant geyser situation?

  3. Quick question... So, I know it may depends on how you ride the bike, but was there a big deviation from spec of the throttle body sync at 8k miles?

Put the bike on the side stand and slowly fill the radiator, run the motor and let the coolant circulate.  With the bike on the side stand the fill neck is the highest part of the cooling system and any air bubbles should rise to the top.

By the way, would you run the engine and let the coolant circulate with the radiator cap off?

When I did it, I put the radiator cap on before running the engine.

Hey did you have any problem fitting the oem springs into the Puig footrests? I'm struggling with the left side one

Not at all... was pretty easy indeed! Just pushing the footpeg mount, putting the pin, and done.

I think I received 2 right side mounts though, but it fitted, so I didn't look any further.

Just make sure you have the mounts :

The only tricky part was to remove the pin "holder" on the right side, it was a pain in the ass!

  5. I had PR4 on my Kawa Z750 and they were stupidly good especially on wet roads (which happened often in France).

For my FJ09, I recently put Bridgestone T32, and I love them so far! I surely could put more aggressive tires since I don't ride that much, but I like the touring feel!

I live in a mountainous region with greatly varying barometric pressure in each half of the state, I can go from sea level to over 5,500' and have crossed mountain passes with temperatures varying from low 90's on one side to low 40's at the summit and back to low 90's on the other side, all within 90 minutes.

I would not know which jacket to use in those conditions 😄

  7. I wear the Alpinestars Valparaiso 2 for any ride!

It has a waterproof layer and a cold weather layer which can be removed.

The waterproof might be needed for the cold weather...

But, not wearing any of those layers... Cali weather 😛

NOTE:  Didn't ride the bike for 1.5 years... then went on a trip Day 1 - 600 miles, following 4 days around 400 mile average.. last day 1145 miles in 16 hrs... the seat never even came to mind.  The mirrors though.. ugh!

Sorry buddy, but I think you forgot to mentioned which seat you are referring to?

On the old oil pan design, you just need to drill a hole to get access, on the newer one you likely need to remove the plate.   I do for mine ... its 6 screws... adds about 3 minutes to the oil change.   Its also nice to clean the plate.

It's not an issue at all.   I was thinking of throwing a Fumotovalve on my bike to see if I can avoid using tools and removing the plate to change the oil in the future... but really... removing the plate is very fast.

Thanks for the answer, I was actually thinking about getting this one https://sw-motech.us/fr/bike/YAMAHA/FJ09/2016/RN43/produits/protection/sabot+moteur/4052572027134.htm for my 2016...

But if this one https://sw-motech.us/fr/bike/YAMAHA/FJ09/2016/RN43/produits/protection/sabot+moteur/4052572036679.htm is easier to install/remove... maybe I'll get it instead

Installed new mirrors and bash plate yesterday.

Over winter, the left mirror cracked for no real reason - extreme cold, I guess.  I ordered another from a local dealer in April - I'm sure I'll get the call any day now.  Ordered some 3rd party knock-offs from Amazon and the pair arrived in three days.  They look identical with some minor exceptions to some of the bracketing - but it all fit fine, just like stock.

With the bash plate I finally feel ready for some longer gravel rides now that the eggshell oil pan has a carton under it.  Installation was ez pz.  I did drill a hole for the oil plug (off a bit) using the largest bit I have on hand, which isn't big enough, lol.  Need to get a reamer and sort that out another day.

Out of curiosity, won't you need to remove the plate for every oil change?
