  1. I actually got lucky, the bike came with the stock windscreen with one of those clip-on visor thingys attached, and it works pretty well. Surprised me. But I do like the extra airflow the shorty gives in hot weather.
  2. Did a few things over the last couple of days. Today was the Givi crash bars. Now just need to find some highway pegs to mount to them. Anyone have a suggestion for ones that work well with the Givi bars? Over the weekend was the tank bag ring and the Puig shorty windscreen The screen is great, at least right now while it's still warm.
  3. No doubt, we know how "those people" are. Right, @bwringer?? Kidding aside, pelican-style cases work great on a dualsport, I've got a set on my DR-Z400S
  4. Yeah, the bags don't quite fit the style of the bike. Oddest thing is that it looks like they're mounted with the hinges on the outside??
  5. I assume that's the BMW/Hella/Powerlet type socket? Did you run wires up from the battery, or use something that was available under the fairing?
  6. Yeah, I'll do all that (done lots of suspension setups in the past), but I always try to get a good ride in first before starting on it.
  7. It's the Seat Concepts mod. Previous owner did it, the kit comes with new foam and a seat cover. He liked it, but for me at least it's not that great. I see a Corbin in my future.
  8. Got to go on a little 4 hour spin on my "new to me" Tracer. It will be replacing my 2020 Mutistrada 1260S Anyway, first impressions...Rode about 140 miles today. Some rural 2-lane, a stretch of twisties (Hwy 211 between Sperryville and Luray, for those familiar with Va.), the upper third of Skyline Drive, and a freeway blast home.Great motor. Plenty of power, revvy, smooth, good grunt down low and nice burst of power as the tach swings past 6000. Been 20+ years since I put real miles on anything other than a V-Twin, so it's very different, but I liked it. A lot!Riding position fits me very well. A little better than the Multi. It's light!! 70lbs lighter than the Multi, but feels like a bigger difference than that. Definitely less top heavy. Slow speed/parking lot type maneuvers are much easier.Out on the road, it feels great. Typical suspension shortcomings, springs are soft/not enough rebound/too much high speed compression. But not off enough to make the bike unsettled or uncomfortable. Handled pretty well, nice turn in, stable. Easier to pick and hold a line on than the Multi, more confidence in general when cranked over. Most importantly, it nails the "fun to ride" metric. Like the SV and V-Strom, it seems to be more than the sum of the parts.A pic from today, up on Skyline Drive:
  9. Howdy all. Just thought I'd do a quick intro post, now that I finally have a Tracer. Bought this one today: Moved to NOVA from Oklahoma City a bit less than two years ago. 66 years old, retired in March, been riding since I bought an RD350 in '81. Been 45-50 bikes since then Raced with the CMRA for 13 years. The Tracer will be replacing a 2020 Multistrada 1260S, which I haven't been thrilled with, as my main bike. Looking forward to many, many miles on it. Appreciate all the info on the site, already answered a bunch of my questions.
  10. Many aftermarket parts require a bit of tweaking to fit and/or function correctly. Lots of reasons for that, some out of control of the manufacturer. In your shoes I'd either rotate the bars back a skosh, dremel the edge, or just live with the very light contact at full lock. Probably the latter. If you do loosen the handlebar bolts there's absolutely no need to replace them.
  11. Nick came to me back in 2014 and wanted a drop in design for the new FZs. Unfortunately, the stock length was different than what most USD forks use. I was very reluctant, and normally would have refused. But I thought the FZ was going to be a big seller, and Nick committed to buying a good quantity. So I took a chance. Luckily it all worked out and I didn't get stuck with a bunch of oddly shaped scrap steel. :) Basically, a case of the stars lining up just right. Not something that's workable in most cases.
  12. Not bullshit, It’s the only way they can sell springs for a reasonable price. (I used to own a spring company) If Stoltec Moto is still in business get in touch with them. I worked with Nick to develop springs for the FZ-09 when it came out. I think they also worked on the early FJs, might work on the Tracers as a drop in. 120-130mm for oil level is generally good.
