  1. I had this Mod on my original 2015 Tracer , I can vouce for how they do improve the throttle response and also agree that it's not as good as a remap , having now ridden my replacement FJ09 that's had the flash. A great bit of kit if you can't currently afford a remap. Someone with a snatchy 2015 needs to buy this asap 😊

  2. Went to fit the side cases supports , and managed to chew up both the left side footrest hanger bolt heads 😕

And that was after buying a new Torque wrench and hex bits just for that job

Annoyingly both the right side bolts came loose without any problems.

After reading the above posts , I'm feeling even more useless about it.

Thankfully our friend is a helicopter mechanic locally so is popping round tomorrow to get them out for me.

Partzilla is now my Friend,  4 new bolts ordered , thankfully in stock so should be here midweek.

The Job itself seems easy to do , bolts made of cheese wasn't part of the plan !!

I screwed up my prior reply so you have to tap "expand" to see it.

There I mentioned the V2 cable with its gentle radius and not waiting for the original V1 cable to fray.

But I didn't mention that a fraying cable could be the cause of his excessive free play.  Still, his Lower adjuster is bottomed out and needs to be backed out regardless.

Exactly the help I was hoping for , thanks.

The bikes only done 3,300 miles 🤔

I'll have another go at it after work tomorrow,  as I need it feeling better for my first ride on her soon , as I'm finally doing my U.S M/C test this week 🤞

Might want to check if you have the old style original clutch cable. If you do, at the very least order the new updated one.

Your clutch problems may be the cable breaking.

The new style clutch cable was the first thing I bought , even got it before I got the bike . Thanks for the tip anyway 👍

  5. So , I need to adjust the clutch cable on my new to me FJ09 , as there is basically no biting point and far too much free play.

I've read the official Service Manual and it says to unlock the locking nut and turn the adjusting nut counter clockways , my question is should the adjusting nut be so far ' into '  the grooved part ( no idea what the official name for that part would be , sorry 😞 ) or should it be sitting against it , like the locking nut ?

Apologies for being a numpty ,  but I'm no mechanic ( clearly )

Thanks in advance for the advice and sarcasm 😁

  6. Can anyone tell me what recalls happened on the '15 FJ09's over here , and how can I check if the bike I've just bought will of had them carried out ? Bearing in mind the fella I bought her off is in the USAF and had the bike shipped over to England when he was stationed there , and might of missed any recall notices.

I had the gearbox recall carried out on my Gen 1 MT09 Tracer back home in England back in 2015 , and I think there was one for the handlebar clamps ?

    Cheers in advance 👍

I just googled "tracer 900 gt for sale" and found a ton for sale.....especially if you are willing to drive a bit to pick one up. I see used bikes here on the west coast every so often, but they don't last for long. Good luck on your search, and welcome back......

As it happens , I did just that ☺

Where do you hail from in Merry Ole England?

I was a diehard Matchless and AJS guy in my yute...

Hence my little photo upper left...

I'm from just outside London , though my last 20 years there were spent in Beautiful Somerset , more west / near Bristol.

Very green , often wet , vastly different to the desert here in North Nevada 😎🤠

Oh, great, but you can understand me misunderstanding...

    Absolutely,

An Englishman now living in Nevada went to California to buy a Japanese bike bought in Montana by a bloke from Washington ( state ) which was hauled back in a u haul trailer with a Texas plate 😁

Congrats but you couldn't find a non-Cali model without all its emission stuff that adds cost, complications and weight, and cuts power? 😱

If you mean me , the bike was bought in Montana,  registered in Washington but the guy I bought it from was based  in Cali 👍

The area you discovered in California is barely the tip of the iceberg, there is SOOO much good riding in California.

You are 90 minutes from Lake Tahoe and the Sierra Passes just south of there are AMAZING (I would avoid the lake due to traffic but the passes are worth repeat visits).

North of Donner Pass on Highways 49, 89 and 70 (to name a few) can be ridden in a day trip from your location and 20 is nice all the way out to the ocean.

    Cheers for the advice 👍

    Congrats!

And yeah, those U-Haul motorcycle trailers are the bargain of the century. I once dragged one four hours and back with a Corolla to pick up a motorcycle north of Chicago.

180 miles each way from my gaff in North Nevada  to Linda , California was a 4 hour trip both ways at 55/60 MPH.

Most of it was on I80 going over the infamous Donner pass , but when we hit Highway 20 in Cali it was a gorgeous tight and twisty road through a forest - great on a bike , not so in a truck pulling a trailer. But it's a road I'll be heading to once I'm legal.

Hiring the trailer from u haul was a simple process , though I had to get the electrics plug on the truck fixed as it was rotten from non use.

All in all , a great day out 👍

Welcome and nice bike.  Motorcycle endorsement shouldn't be too difficult.  It does vary by state.  My youngest daughter got her endorsement my reading the book and taking the test when she got her license.  Alabama didn't have a motorcycle endorsement until the past 20 years or so.  My wife and I have it because we were grandfathered in.

I like that U-haul trailer, didn't know they had them.

$15 per day for the trailer is a bloody bargain mate 👍

The test/ course I want to do here in Nevada is recognised as an official test by the DMV . It's a 2 day thing , both in the classroom and hands on bike training. But it comes highly recommended locally.

Congratulations!   Great find to score a first-generation FJ with only 3,500 miles.

Getting your US motorcycle license endorsement shouldn’t be an issue, although I believe the actual process varies state-to-state.   Good luck!

The guy I got it from is in the USAF and ironically had the bike shipped over to England when he was stationed over to my homeland , so it's kind of ' come home ' .

The remap on the bike was done over there also.

The clutch needs to be  adjusted , literally no biting point. But I'll  be fitting the new version cable as soon as I can find one anyway.

Plus , as I keep saying , I need to pass my test 😞
