I have discovered the first cheese fastener on my new bike. Givi provide some spacers to fit behind the pillion pegs with the top box kit. This brings the lower pannier mounting points out to same distance as the top rails with the Givi top box bracketry in place. The OE allen bolts had blue loctite and one of the fasteners decided to break, rounding off, before the loctite seal gave way. I have tried the torx method. No dice, so it will need drilling out. Fortunately, Givi provide longer, more robust bolts with the spacer. A job for another day or another person, maybe, as the luggage is not needed for several weeks.
