sparreau
I'm curious to hear about others' experience with oily residue on the exhaust shroud. My guess is that it's blow-by, and will go away when the rings seat. Does anyone with a high-mileage bike still see it happen?

There's simply a nearby surface for it to collect. Non-issue. Piedmont of NC '15 FJ-09 '94 GTS-1000
mjsracing
I get occasional dark spots on my "exhaust shroud", the trim piece near the exhaust exit. Although it looks oily, It seems to be more like soot. I agree with clint that it is carbon (soot) mixed with water 2015 FJ-09, 2016 1290 Super Duke, 2017 150 XC-W (primary ride), 2012 DR650
stvnfardid
I've got 1700 miles on my FJ and still get that sometimes. It's no big deal just wipe it off with old cloth it comes off easy?
