madsquabbles
So I purchased a 22 model and am looking at adding the usual accessories. I currently have a 19 with the rear rack installed and there appears to be what looks like a major difference. The 21-23 model seems so much weaker than the prior years or am I completely wrong. I wouldn’t be hauling anything heavy but just adding a “plate” with the two bolts seems like an afterthought to me. Also shameless plug for my 19 tracer listed in the for sale section. Thought on the rear rack as an add on for the newer gen’s??
OldBikers
When I purchased my 2021 there were no Yamaha rear racks available so I bought the SHAD rear rack which is so much more supportive than the Yamaha and it opens up to a large variety of SHAD top cases, who also makes the Yamaha cases. So I have a 45L case for long trips and a 34L case for around town and short trips.
madsquabbles
Is the shad a plate that just bolts on like some of the others? The former gen racks had supportive arms and were rock solid.
OldBikers
It doesn't just bolt on but it does have supporting arms that attach to the frame. It's a very solid mount.
