scotto
Does anyone know where the speedometer is driven from? My 2001 Suzuki SV650 came off the front wheel while my Versys650 was at the countershaft sprocket I believe. Going to change the rear sprocket and wondering if it will affect the speedo? I'm guessing it may be at the ABS sensor on the front axle.
skipperT
Yes, it's calculated from the wheel speed sensors. You can monitor the data in one of the DIAG channels if you are curious. Just goes from 0 to 100 and repeats IIRC. -skip
oldfart
I started my bike on the center stand the other day after nearly always starting it while on the sidestand. The rear wheel spun and the speedometer showed 7 mph! That's at a standstill on the centerstand, haha. So I'm pretty sure it's reading the rear wheel. We should have a contest to see who's bike goes the fastest on the centerstand!
