  1. Changed the oil, filter, lubed the cable and chain, and then test rode her. Ready for another 4000 miles.
  2. Dropped it off at the dealer to get a new front tire put on it. Went with a Bridgestone T30, same as the rear tire. Won't have my baby for 2 more days :-[
  3. And we've been having some freakin' sweet weather lately too!!
  4. Here's an alternative while you wait on Yamaha... http://www.aerostich.com/a-to-b-utilities/rider-comfort/grips-accessories/aerostich-warm-wrap-grips.html I'd really like to try and stick with factory as much as possible. I'm the kind of guy that wants everything to plug in and be removable with ease. Guess I'll have to wait until January 8-| The gloves I have work awesome as long as they're not sitting in the cold before I put them on. I guess this must be due to poor circulation in my hands... Does anyone know what the accessory plug type is that's under the dash? There's 3 plugs, 2 look like they're for the heated grips, then there's the 3rd plug- what type of plug is that? Or does anyone know where I can get the plug? I've been searching around and can't seem to find the answer (either that or I'm not searching for the right things ).
  5. I'm sorry...but is this a serious question? To answer your obvious question, yes...plenty have. I opted for less expensive alternatives, Oxfords from Revzilla. I LOVE them. Look back a few pages, I posted a pic. I'm sorry, but does it LOOK like I'm trolling around? B-| I'm specifically looking for factory, seems like nobody around here (here being a relative term for Southern California, in the extremely off chance there was any confusion) has been able to get them.
  6. It was a bit nippy this morning at 40*F. My hands were basically frozen solid most the way to work- never thought I'd say that 60*F feels warm!!! Has anyone fitted factory heated grips yet? Dealers here are saying January 1st is when they'll be able to get them.
  7. Thought maybe I would see where everybody is located. You don't have to state specifics, just want to see how diverse FJ owners are I am located in San Diego California. Poll added by redfjniner 11/6/15: Update 12/15/18 The Original Poll was lost in the transformation to the new web site. Best of my recollections is as follows: PSWR: 23% SWR: 22% SER: 21% PNWR: 13% NER: 12% MWR: 6% MPR: 3%
  8. Replaced mine at 5300 miles. At that point, small pieces of rubber were beginning to peel off of the center of the tire, and the tread was worn completely on both sides.
  9. Bought a pair of blue brake/clutch levers yesterday. Going to start to farkle the FJ a little bit O_o 8D
  10. I'm at 4130 miles as of today, and it hasn't even been 90 days O_o
  11. Wondering how I can get a set of blue forks here into the states.... Sure would like to get lust a little bit of color onto my FJ that's not the standard yamaha gold forks.
  12. Yes it will spin the rear tire at a standstill. Make sure it's cold first. A warmed up tire won't slip so easily.
  13. California. Sheriff for one of the local town/cities (it's kind of on the verge of being both I think O_o ) There are options for programming and none of them include dimming the tail light's running light, nor do they include blacking out certain sections. They also did not recommend modifying the control board inside as it may damage the unit as a whole. However, they did state future models may be setup more like the factory light.
  14. But isn't that what you want? To increase conspicuity? This is the MAIN reason I bought the Motodynamics tail light. All of the LEDs are lit brightly, then flash 3 times quickly and become even brighter when braking. I disabled the turn signal functionality. Well when a cop stops you to talk about your tail light.... It kind of makes a need for it... I don't like being stopped by anybody. Besides, I feel the running light is far too bright, less attentive drivers might mistake it for a brake light. The brake light isn't that far brighter. Thankfully the tail light has DOT stamped into it so there was nothing he could do. Did you have to use the small extension? I did not, mine literally plugged right in and away I went.
  15. Installed my new Motodynamics tail light and my new One Off Fab tail tidy kit. The tail light is stupid bright, and the running light is almost as bright as the brake light... Going to need to figure out how to modify it since all of the LED's come on for running..
  16. Did the first service yesterday. Dealer wanted over $200 to do it O_o All they were going to do is check all the nuts/bolts, check the chain and relube it, and change the oil/filter. Not $200 worth in service, and all stuff I can do on my own. Shined the whole bike up afterwards and made it look purty and sharp. Dropped the windshield onto the ground and put some nice dings in it I also ordered a fender eliminator from One Off Fab and a MotoDynamics taillight 8D
