  1. I think the internals, besides being electronic, are also different. I have ridden both and bought the normal tracer. Have not had long enough ride to comment on it yet, it's still breaking in. But what I have heard is that the normal suspension is a bit stiffer and might be a bit more uncomfortable, especially on rougher roadsurfaces.
  2. Little warning for the 2023 tracers, the screen adjustment lever was moved up higher in the newer models. So shorty screen wil show the mechanism or you need to choose a shorty-ish screen.
  3. Ok, that's confirmed then. I won't touch it. If anything I'll add some lighting and add a switch on the handlebar for it. Thanks guys!
  4. If it is indeed canbus I would definately leave it alone. But are you 100% sure it is? As mentioned I would not positap or splice in anything I would always try to find a way to create something that you can plug between the original male and original female connector by means of 2 new connectors which then gives you the possibility to splice into that rather than the original loom. I'm not looking for more light for the cagers (a cell service jammer would work better to get their attention😞) but for myself. If I aim my original high beam lower in order to run it all the time, I have no high beam left to use when I need to see where I'm going😅. Thanks for the tip on the weaving, that makes sense indeed.
  5. Thanks ride365, is your advice from hands on negative experience with the specific topic or more general advice?
  6. Working out how I can get rid of the headlight wink on the 2021+ tracer 9. I believe there are 2 options : 1a. Maybe I can aim the high beam lower (does it come with so much adjustability?) and ride around with high beam on. 1b. I would like to add 1 or 2 aux high beam lights to keep the option of having more light. 1c. Preferably I would like to rewire the both headlights to the low beam and the high beam switch to the aux light. 2. Somehow rig a way to power down the high beam (I once learned from a guy that was behind doubletronic accessory, that the reflector of a light only starts working after x% of light). This was however with halogen and not sure if this would work with the led and if I do not run the risk of damaging it (costly replacement compared to a bulb). Both options require messing with the wiring. Ideally I would make a plug in between solution so I can always go back to stock. But also most can bus systems do not allow for changes. Is there even can on the tracer and if so are these circuits protected by it? Also is there a place where I can find the types of plugs that are used over the bike?
  7. What hits the ground when you drop a 2021+? Handlebar if lucky but in full lock it's what? tank or fairing and lower end of engine covers? Will the sliders save either? Normally a bike drops on the endcan, but since this is under the engine what hits the ground on the rear? Axle? passenger peg? or lower down? Trying to figure out what to order if it comes in.......
  8. thanks guys, Goo gone is not available here, but iso alcohol is. I'll take the hairdryer and bottle out and give it a go. Just glad they didn't put clearcoat over the sticker..... is the yamaha sticker on the front fender also removeable?
  9. Hi Guys, upcoming 2023 Tracer 9 rider with T-rex syndrom here. (long upper body, short arms). I had 25mm on my versys 1000 and suited me fine, can 20 or 25 mm be done by rerouting the brakeline or removing a clamp? (and is everything still safe that way?) or is 15mm the max (since yamaha supplies these as standard I suppose these are a no brainer, but I might need higher and pricing is similar for each size)
  10. Ok, so the big warning stickers come off easily... That's a relief, that's the first thing on my list when I get it. Hoe about the yamaha sticker on the front fender?
  11. I hope I did😅, it was harder than buying my first bike (the versys) now I have 10 years of experience and it now needs to tick more boxes. Preferably everything needs to be better than the Versys including all the things I have done over 10 years to it to suit my needs. It was unrealistic and never going to work..... Its looking at the compromises and seeing if I can live with them or there are farkles to change them. In any case... After the first year I will know🤣 Waiting for the call this week to pick it up.... Patience is a virtue (don't think it's mine though) Thanks for the tip! I'll keep an eye out. Hoi Ron! Thanks! The white one is a beauty indeed! My versys is/was white. Too bad the normal 9 is only available in black or red. I already have a red car and a red street twin (and both a nicer red than the Yam one) so opted for the black. Figured it might be easy to wrap some parts and come with my own color scheme. The panels and even the tank seems easier than most bikes to do. I hope the Mra vario is good enough. Having tinnitus I hate wind noise but love riding with visor open.... We generally have moderate climate, but a shorty like the wrs or ermax might be good in summer. I'm not too far from Amsterdam, although some might say that everything in the Netherlands is not far from each other 🤭.
  12. Hi Vincent here from the, big part under sea level residing, Netherlands Put downpayment on a new tracer 9 which will hopefully be delivered ASAP (can't wait). Did 40k miles on my 2012 Versys (which in our very small country is considered high mileage) and wanted a change. Tried the vstrom 800 but couldn't get along with the 21 inch front wheel on higher speeds. Liked the peppy low down grunt, good suspension but detracted from the vibes and the mediocre quickshifter. Was contemplating on waiting on the street version, but in the end the engine and quickshifter was going to be the same and aftermarket parts non existent. And I have tweaked the versys quite a bit, would take at least a year before the street version would have any farkles available on the market.... So the tracer tickt the majority of the boxes and the ones that were not can be retrofitted. Looking for a higher and possibly wider handlebar (love the 95 cm wide bars on the versys) so might be popping into some old topics to ask some questions. Will probably go for an Mra vario screen (coming from a fugly but very effective airstream, I am spoiled) and might be looking for a shorty for the hot summer (which makes the bike look damn fine!) I had the fully kitted gt version of the versys but decided to not by the tracer gt because when I travel I tend to opt for the lighter softbags (need to work out how to. Mount my lomo medium and small bags.) Will probably add a givi plate to the rear and buy a cheap topbox for the practical rides if I need to lock up somewhere or take my laptop or such. Crash bars are most likely also in the list...... Wallet might be losing weight too🫣
