I am 6'1" 200 lbs. I normally wear an XLT (extra large tall)  I am long through the arms. In this jacket XL is perfect.

The good from first hand experience.

Weatherproof. With good armor protection. 

The bad.

Heavy and hot above 85* It ventilates ok. But it's a lot of jacket for warmer weather....  Some pics of me in it. 

This is what I used on my 2015 FJ. There are also slightly bigger spacers that go behind the upper hangers. IIRC

It's seating position is a bit aggressive for long days and my 62 year old body. Even with Helibars. The more upright seating of the FJ wins the (long) day.

A low of 31mpg to a high of 44mpg. It all depends on your right wrist.... 🤷‍♂️

It occurred to me that I never finished this thread. 

Towed the VFR up to Highlands NC. Free lodging for me. 🙂

Weather was hit and miss, so I didn't get the miles I had hoped-for. 

Zero problems with the bike. It is a hoot up in the mountains. 

A bunch of short rides dodging the rain and avoiding rain. For just riding around and short trips it's what I choose. If I were to ride on a long trip, the FJ-09 is still the choice.

That particular one is very thin. The band is slightly thicker, but not by much.  They are designed to be under football (American) helmets.

You can also try wearing a beenie that goes over your ears under your helmet.

Just be careful cleaning them. They scratch easily and at some point I got something on mine that gave it a "orange peel" look.  I had to get another one.....

I used to have a 7.3 powerstroke. 250,000+ miles under what was sometimes a heavy load. Now I have a 3.5 ecoboost. 

New turbochargers spin at +150,000 rpms.

That creates a bunch of heat on the vanes , housing and the bearings. When you slide in for fuel after a long run. Let It Idle for a few minutes.

That allows for the system to reduce the heat built up in the bearings and vanes. When you just shut the engine off it allows the heat to cook the trapped/static oil.

If you have a turbocharged anything, let it idle for a minute or so. 

Twin-Parallel Turbochargers

The 3.5L F-series EcoBoost V6 engine uses twin parallel BorgWarner K03 turbochargers which can spin up to 170,000 RPM and provides up to 15 psi of boost pressure. On the other side, the transverse 3.5L EcoBoost V6 uses a twin Garrett GT1549L turbocharger which has lesser boost pressure at 11 psi. The engine consumes 25% more air than its naturally aspirated counterparts.

These turbochargers are mounted to high-strength cast-iron low internal volume exhaust manifolds. After going through the turbo, exhaust gases travel through fast-cat converters to keep emissions low levels. The charge pipes, stock intercooler end tank, and intake manifold are made

It takes 2.8 qts with a filter to change the oil. Is price really that big of deal? I drove a personal diesel truck for decades that took 13qts and still paid for SYN. 🙄

I wasn't trying to be a downer. Just trying to be realistic.

If you play with google maps St. Augustine to Ft. Lauderdale is a fuzz over 4 hours with no stops going down I95. (traffic dependent) If you use the "avoid highways" option it kicks out to around 7 hours.

With what I know about the secondary roads down the coast I'd bet it's a lot more than that. 😀

2,500 in 7 days is pretty optimistic. Doable but it doesn't sound like much fun.... 🤷‍♂️

You will be doing Interstates. A word about Interstates here in Florida. They suck. Straight, flat and near any large city full of the worst drivers anywhere in the lower 48, in SOFLA it's Mad Max Fury road.

With the tight schedule, if I were you I would pick stuff you might want to see in any projected overnight stop. Here in FL. it's more about the destinations not the roads.

Some of my favorites are St. Augustine.  Plenty of historical stuff there. Some of my favorite places there are. The Reef restaurant, Aunt Kate's and Cap's on the water out on Vilano Beach. Downtown, A1A ale works and towards the beach Sunset Grill.

 A1A  St. Augustine to Daytona.

From my area, Ft. Lauderdale Chrome Ave to the Keys. Some places to eat in the Northern end of the Keys, Alabama Jack's, Lorelei Cabana bar, Lazy Days restaurant and Gilberts. I haven't been to Key West in Years.

In West Florida Sanibel island has Doc Ford's Rum Bar. Tampa has more strip bars than anyplace I been, but traffic is brutal.

In Northwest Fl. Cedar Key and Apalachicola cool funky little towns worth a look. IMO
