  1. Having turned 63 this past September I feel age creeping up on me. SOFLA traffic keeps my riding skills pretty well honed. 😃 I haven't taken a long trip in a while. My riding buddy decided that he was done. We have been best friends since high school. Trying to find my way as a solo traveler on the bike.

    Keep on motoring!!!!

I don't know if they were the first but it is well designed and is much smaller diameter than the similar Givi system.

If you have multiple tank bags (i.e., I have the smaller Engage and mid+ size City bags) and/or multiple bikes (each with their own tank ring), it's a very flexible and slick system that minimizes marring paint.

Oh yeah. It's a shame that SWMOTECH doesn't make the old Engage any longer. 😑

  3. Not sure on the order they will show.

Me on the XR1200 in 2012 (Grey helmet) The picture with the XR and the black helmet is my oldest son on the same XR  the year before covid. IIRC.  A Picture of the 2 of us. Me on the FJ him on the XR. We rode from Nashville stayed at the Resort and had a great time on our way east to Waynesville.   Me earlier this year on the VFR.

I try to go every so often. It's just not a priority. There are so many great roads in that area.

  4. I'm not sure this applies.

I live in Florida where we have "Sunpass" There are others but they are all compatible with sunpass. I have one sunpass transponder and account, but I have 4 vehicles attached to it.

I never move the transponder from vehicle to vehicle. When the vehicle I'm in or on goes through the automated without a transponder it reads your plate finds it has a sunpass account and charges the account. So far this is different than toll by plate as I have never been charged an "administration fee"  YMMV

But if I had to guess, that sounds like an intermittent electrical ground problem to me.   Check the battery terminals for tightness, then chase the black ground terminal wiring as far as you can and check that it’s tight at the frame and/or engine ends.

👆 This. It sounds exactly like a loose ground.

My XR1200 used to do the exactly the same thing. Especially after I put in urethane motor and swingarm mounts.

  6. I used a telescoping lug wrench for years. But honestly over the last few years I don't bring anything. I make sure to adjust it before the trip. I keep an eye on it and usually over the course of my average long trip ~1,500 miles it does fine. If I was to do something epic I would still tote it around. YMMV

I'm going to respond to this with a very simple reply:

Wet clutches are fine. Running in the same oil that lubricates the bottom end and top of the engine is less good (as I said it's contrary design). There is no reason for wear residue from a wet clutch [a high friction compound] to circulate an entire engine and potentially contaminate surfaces that depend on low friction.

It would be very easy to separate the lubrication of the transmission and engine; heck have the clutch run in it's own bath of oil with it's own replacement schedule.

It remains cheap and lazy convention by the Japanese manufacturers. i definitely would avoid conflating Ducati's crappy dry clutches with the contrary engineering of wet clutch running in the engine oil.

Harleys do that. Just saying...... 🤷‍♀️

  8. Technically I have 3 bikes. a 2009 HD XR1200 a 2015 Yamaha FJ-09 and a 2010  Honda VFR1200F

I sold my XR to my oldest son for $1 with the stipulation that while I'm alive he has to sell it back to me for $1.

With the XR in Murfreesboro TN. When my son flew in to visit (5-6 times a year) I would rent a bike from EagleRider. When all was said and done that's almost $1,000 for a long weekend.

For that kind of money I could buy a used bike, which I did. The VFR.

My point (finally) Is if you have paid for them. Other than insurance and some maintenance. They're not costing you much. Enjoy them both. Life is short.... Just sayin.
