  1. I agree with these observations. I will add that I think it's unreasonable to expect this type of jacket to perform very well above 85-90 degrees (not saying fddriver2 was implying that, just wanted to add). I usually switch to mesh around 80-85, because I usually have it with me. I've worn the Kilamanjaro at 90F+ and as long as I was moving, it wasnt horrible, but it doesn't compare to mesh. Another pro is the wrist vent. I love having that. It makes a surprising difference for me on hotter days. Unfortunately, I don't think that perfect 4 season jacket exists yet... vents like mesh in the summer, is waterproof, and allows me to wear my warmer layers and heated winter layers too. This jacket, however, is a great 3 season jacket and could be pushed to 4 seasons in certain areas of the country.
  2. Jacket sizes have always been a tough fit for me, with wide shoulders and thinner waist. 5'10 190, but I wouldn't base my fit for yourself. To better help answer your question, attached is the size chart, which I think is pretty accurate.
  3. Thanks. I have it in size large and it's working great for me too. XL is just too big on me
  4. Hey everyone. I have two brand new items for sale that I could not return during the pandemic, which are unused and did not fit me. Both have D3O armor and are waterproof. I will ship anywhere in the 48 contiguous states for $10. If you are interested, best way to reach me is PM. I don't always get notifications on for sale threads. First Gear Killamanjaro Jacket - Size XL - $350 SOLD - First Gear Kathmandu Overpants - Size 38 Short $250 https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/firstgear-kilimanjaro-jacket?fbclid=IwAR3sfebCdZLmj4LYivOkg7Ypzxn2JaFc-1Q8L_EQmS-_-zM4Xn4lTKY6AjM&sku_id=1083758 https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/firstgear-kathmandu-overpants?fbclid=IwAR0AHMUc_DesxDrrkS7dkR719D5NhwjPM5NKlcil_Dli33pHfCjECBkT948&sku_id=800637
  5. For anyone interested, I have a brand new and reinforced OEM windshield bracket for sale. I haven't posted it on here yet, but I have it and will eventually. I don't have an FJ09 anymore, so I have no use for it anymore. It has two extra gussets, to prevent the failure from happening again, added and then was re-coated black. If you are interested in buying, PM me.
  6. I've ran all these tires (except the Road 5s) and absolutely love the Michelin Pilot Road 4s. I got an average of 8-9k miles out of a rear. I also got about 3k out of the stock tire, for a frame of reference. The wet grip performance was like no other tire I rode with. I'd do 90+ with wet roads, knowing I had PR4s on and I felt comfortable with the road condition.
  7. My valves read just as tight at 21,000 miles. At 37000 miles, my head was shot; I have a whole thread dedicated to that debacle. I still believe there's a bigger issue than we realize. I went to corporate Yamaha and met with someone about my bike. They definitely know there are some major issues. One of these days I am going to write a blog post with a full write up on that experience... Riding my new Suzuki V Strom to Cypress, CA to formally complain to Yamaha in person lol.
  8. Hopefully, I'll weld the extra gussets on next week and then won't have this problem again
  9. I'll look into that for my new bracket. I still haven't installed it yet because I want to weld two more gussets on it first. UPDATE: National Cycle ignores my emails and never responded after they said they would look into it. I do not recommend doing business with these guys. I spoke with Scott Durham.
  10. Radio silence so far. I will send them a follow-up email on Wednesday
  11. At 24k miles (14 months of ownership of the brand new bike), I changed my air filter, clutch cable (because I didn't want it to break on my cross country road trip), put in new antifreeze, new brake fluid, and adjusted my valves. After reinstalling the CCT, it just started failing. Knowing that there was an issue with the stock CCTs for this bike, I was pretty much panicking because I was supposed to leave in 2 weeks for my week trip. I don't trust my local dealer to touch anything engine related on my bike because they are notorious lean mean motorcycle messing up machines. Luckily, I live in PA and Stoltech also is based out of PA. They shipped me an APE tensioner, which I didn't really want to get, but seemed like the best option. It needed to be adjusted 2 times in about 10k miles, which I can live with. Hope that helps
  12. The stock brackets were designed for smaller stock windshield, therefore, any larger windshield may cause them to crack over time. Time will tell if this is a one time problem, or starts showing up more often. That's why I want to add a gusset on each side before installing the new bracket. I definitely want to keep using the windshield because I have grown to really like riding with one.
  13. The customer service representative said he was passing my write up to management and the owners of the company. I did more R&D than they did on the windshield. They must not test for simulating high mileage bikes. The best part is that I think the windshield is too short and want to put an extender on it to get the buffeting wind off my helmet.
  14. After about 30k miles on my FJ with the National Cycle Tall windscreen for the FJ09, it successfully broke my stock Yamaha windshield bracket. I was on the my 3 week cross country road trip (about 4000 miles in) and it was flexing quite dangerously (between 4-6 inches of deflection at the end of the screen while riding at 65mph), so I did a JB weld repair (in the woods) to get me the remaining 5000 miles home to Pennsylvania. It also was making my cluster move/shake, since the windshield and cluster share the same bracket. The JB weld worked pretty well, for the 5 bucks it cost. I ordered a new bracket from Yamaha for about $95 or so, but I'm going to add a gusset on each side and e-coat the bracket before bolting it onto the FJ. I'm not dealing with this again. I called National Cycle and shared pictures with them today. I'll report back what they say/do. Here are a few pics:
  15. Bought the bike in April of 2016 and have 35,000 miles from brand new!
  16. Strange thing happened today. I brought my FJ in for a warranty kick stand issue in early September. The dealer told me that there was a recall on the FJ for the Cam Chain Tensioner. He said he'd call me back about it. Just heard from him today- He got the kit in for my "recall" and wanted to make an appointment to install it. I don't think I'm getting any CCT noise. I'm at 16k miles with constant everyday use since I bought it 6 months ago. Anyone else get told this was a recall? Could this be the CCT kit that you all are saying will be arriving to many dealerships in Dec? I wouldn't want to install the outdated CCT just to do it again.
  17. Just got a call from my local dealer regarding a warranty recall on my FJ's CCT (I was already in touch with them regarding a bent kick stand warranty issue). He specifically said this new recall is for my CCT. Not sure if he was confused with the service bulletin or if that changed to a recall. I will report back.
  18. PM if interested. That's the best way to reach me
