I remember doing those water crossings on the Daytona 675...
One time it was relatively high flows. With the amount of splash, I would have soaked my feet & lower legs. So I had a stroke of genius, superman! I kicked my feet out behind me, leaned way forward and realized just exactly how bad my nuts were going to get squished. But hey, my feet were dry.

I used to love Knoxville-Berryessa when I lived in the area. Rode it all the time, even on the Daytona. However, it sounds like a few years ago it was a very different road. I absolutely loved taking the supermoto out there. Honestly, probably would still like it on the SM.

Just cleaning up the classifieds a bit, is this still for sale?

The only hangup is getting the original pegs off. At least on the '15 FJ, one of the pegs was a clip but the other had a flange that had to be ground off.

I'm so sorry for your loss. GLWS.

IMO I don't think you need a whole new cylinder head. New valves, valve seats, & valve seals will probably do the trick. BUT, if you can't find someone to do the work...

I agree, it's probably a Gange runaway again. Hopefully Baz can put on a good show and maybe even make Gange sweat a bit??
Have fun those of you going in person!

Oh wow. That's an adventure.

Very cool! Did you fly up to Nashville and intend to ride the VFR home?

A friend of mine bought spoke after market wheels for his Tracer. I think the front was a 19". Along with a skid plate he's properly abused the bike and it's done just fine. Although he did get it several feet in the air and bent the dog bones on landing... So maybe keep the jumps minimal.

Very nicely done! Congrats!

I hadn't either until I watched hat video yesterday. I did (or do) run large magnets on the bottom of the oil filters themselves. Same principle, trap the nastiness at the bottom of the filter.

If you removed every beggar and drug addict from Las Vegas it would still suck.
Also - and this may get me banned - "superior burger compared to In-N-Out" is a low bar. Most overrated burger ever, and their fries suck too.
Great write up and photos BTW!
That's a banning offense, good bye!!
I'm kidding.

I'm looking into having the head redone: new valves, seats as needed, etc. Will post what comes of that.
I think there's a brand new head for sale on this forum unless Vinnie finally managed to sell it. Just a thought.

Did it drop a valve or did a valve burn up? Replacing a head gasket / valve really isn't that much trouble.

Edit:Really? We still can't imbed images on an online forum? This is basic forum functionality that's been broken since the update. Just trying to save some bandwidth by not uploading.
You should be able to and if you can't it was recently "blocked".

I use my JIS drivers in everything + screw now too. Even if it's a Philips head. Seems to behave so much better.

I'm not sure about shifting less, but it *feels* like shifting at higher RPM makes the shift(s) smoother.

I have many and cycle through them (pun intended). I actually sold my FJ earlier this year. I'll probably snag a GT in a few more years. In the meantime, I'm enjoying a Daytona 675 & Aprilia SXV550. My only recommendation is buy used & pay cash.

I've offroaded my FJ09, the ergo's, feel, and power make it pretty good. My biggest gripe is the rear ABS. Makes it so much more difficult to swing the ass end out.
That being said, yes there are better options for offroad bikes.
A friend of mine put spoked wheels on his Tracer. I think 19" on the front. He went XSR900 track bike, MT09 street bike, and Tracer 900 offroad. Nice little family IMO.
