I did drill a hole for the oil plug (off a bit) using the largest bit I have on hand, which isn't big enough, lol. Need to get a reamer and sort that out another day.
This set does exist. I have one similar and absolutely love it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/302924811918?_

I am heading down to the races on Sunday (tomorrow). If anybody wants to join up from San Jose area, I'll be leaving at around 8am.
...and, yes, King of the Baggers is on the schedule!
Have fun!!

I'm cleaning up old posts in the classifieds, did they sell?

Could you please add your location so potential buys can estimate shipping or drive time?

I swear there's a magnetism in new tires that attracts all the sharp stuff... Glad you got it handled OP!

I preferred no screen to OEM screen on '15 FJ. The CalSci tinted shorty was the best of all 3 IMO. I never tried one of their touring screens though.

Thanks for the comparison! Sounds like the '21 GT is a major upgrade. Congrats!

Ugh, really makes me miss NorCal riding. Sigh.. Oh well.

That's awfully warm Al, enjoy the ride though!

That's a great story Keith! What an experience, both the lava tubes and the Ford GT.

Also in for the opinion...

My '15 had butter smooth gear shifts. Like "was that a shift?" kind of smooth.

Got any TALL wind screens. Looking for 26-inch sized barn doors.
It's kind of unfortunate, the windscreen bracket on the FJ's doesn't support tall windscreens. There's numerous threads on this forum about windscreen brackets actually cracking.

And R7 that was a 675 triple would be stellar! I'll write a letter to Yamaha...
Full disclosure, I own a Daytona 675 so I might be slightly biased.

The R3 is a twin, so the "R" designation matches.
With 600cc sales in the tank, and looming CARB emissions, the "new" supersport class will be ~650 - 700cc twins. Look at the MotoAmerica twins cup, it was full of MT07's last year. This year it's a bunch of RS660's. Once this R7 is homologated into MA, they'll be a popular bike in that series. If it's being raced in a pro-series championship, then it's absolutely deserving of the R branding.
I have a sneaky suspicion that if this R7 sells well, in a few years we'll see a clean sheet R7 design that's less related to the MT07 and even more aggressive.

Put a hole in the oil pan. Looks like a rock hit it. 70 miles into a planned 1000 mile weekend. Just sitting waiting for AAA to flatbed the bike home.
Can I just drop the oil pan to replace it or do I have to pull the whole exhaust?
EDIT TO ADD: AAA can't find a towing service to get the bike. It would have saved me an 1.5 hours if I would have known that and I could have gotten my son to come pick me up. So now AMA and AAA have refused to pick me up in the MS Delta.
EDITED AGAIN: Traced the oil leak over a mile back from the traffic light where I noticed the leak. Nothing. No dip. No bump. Just a random rock.
Ughhh. Sorry to hear that. I suppose 70 miles from home is a lot better than 500!
Yes, you have to drop the exhaust to replace it, at least I did.
Were you able to find a tow?

Silly question, are the connections to your battery good and tight?

96 is not to be overlooked. Plus there a few more hidden gems in the area....Sawyers Bar....Salmon River.
On one ride up there, we took a un maintained logging road between 299 and 36. We had to ride around fallen branches and other debris but it was paved road. Got to see a logging helicopter picking up logs and flying them out....quite a road and Ive been trying to find it on maps for a few years now.
36, 96 ride is for sure on my list for this year.
I think I've been on that road too. National Forest Service road 1 or something like that? Absolutely amazing!

Winters aren't too cold in NC for riding, surely you jest? I ride in Ohio much of the Winter, the weather down there is typically much warmer and nicer than here in Central Ohio. Where issues can/will arise is obviously at higher altitudes, but my sister has 3 houses at Norris lake in Tenn, and they spend alot of time down there in the Winter because it's so much nicer than here in Ohio.
What isn't nicer than Ohio in the winter?? haha
