I don't think anybody has mentioned the Yamaha Led replacements yet?

I had to choose between two young secondhand 2019 Tracers and both had these on so I figured it was a pretty common upgrade. But I don't see them often. I really like them but they are quite expensive.

Not gonna pretend that I haven’t spent more on less, but I couldn’t get past the price.

Very pleased with the Cyclops kit (that I “found” here).

Oh forgot to mention......my rear brake was super responsive from the day I rode off the dealer lot, most responsive and effective rear brake I've ever felt on any motorcycle I've ridden "weird huh"?

Yup. Rear brake takes a soft foot. Takes you well into the ABS without much effort...

Does anyone have a breakdown of the process on a 2015 FJ? I got a Zumo 595 LM for Christmas and want to use a switched connection behind the screen.

    TIA

I have an older Zumo. Used the mating connector crimped onto the fused GPS harness power/ground to the existing aux plug in the area between the display and the windshield mount.

I only use the harness for the mounting base and 12v power, the rest is coiled up and tie-wrapped in the area behind the windshield mount plate (where the aux connector lives) with the lead to the gps mount routed out through one of the gaps...

    Hope this helps.

Smoke-tested the Cyclops provided relay and completed splicing in the T700 rear adaptor cables (eliminated the bullet connectors) & installing the rear blinkers.

Still need to posi tap in the brake signal.

Have the front cheek panels split but have gotten temporarily interrupted to go grocery shopping....

Install complete and closed up. Only materials needed on top of T700 complete kit was solder, heat shrink, and about a foot of 22ga wire to stretch the brake wires from the signals...

Are you going to have preferred personal pronouns next?  LOL!  When I picked up my bike after the first oil change the tech left it in standard mode.  Wheeeeeeeeeeee!  It was noticeable.  LOL!

My experience was the opposite. Pulling onto a non limited-access divided highway going to work after hauling my wife around over the weekend in B mode and wondering what the issue is?!?

Mine pretty much lives in A. I wish the rotary thumb switch ran the throttle mode & traction control mode with the menus/grip heat on the left switch gear though.

I would only add that it would be a good idea to add an inline fuse if you are going to use the aux supply without a relay or smart fuse box device.

I am sure someone said what the current rating of the Yamaha Aux supply is but I don't recollect what it was.

I think it is 2 amps (like the aux power socket).

    Pic from service manual.

    114 mph indicated, actually.

I think it was only the US spec FJ that was limited, and I’m not sure when the speed governor went away on the factory bikes... I’m assuming with the introduction of the Tracer here in the states, with its longer swingarm to improve higher speed stability.

My US 2020 is e-limited to 130 mph indicated FYI.

  10. Pic from day job.

It “fit” coiled up just fine, but not much room left.

Can see the case for the audio connection. My solution is def not very elegant...do like the high Madstad mount tho.

Still campaigning the first set of Sena (5?) I bought years ago. Did have to put a Chinese lithium battery in mine a few years back.

I have a MadStad 24 inch and if you ever get to west Texas, it's available for you to try out.  I got off of an ST1300 Honda and stopped in Virginia for an oil change.  The ST was a niche bike like the Tracer and they had never seen one.  I know everyone in the service dept rode it.  I told them I was going to enjoy a coke and they should ride it.  When they finished they came inside and told me it was ready.  I'm older and more stove up so I'll probably never get back to Pa again, but the offer still stands.

Well said. Anybody that shows up in NW Ohio on a bike is welcome to sample my 24” Madstad also.

When my ‘15 FJR (really another niche bike) had about 4k on it was feeling it was down on power compared to my previous ‘08. Was able to sneak it onto a dyno at the local HD dealer.

Told the tech to take it for a ride after. His observations were A. He couldn’t believe I thought it was down on power & B. He really wished he hadn’t ridden it (hard core HD guy-draw your own conclusions)...

Just wondering what people are doing with regards to mounting a phone or satnav and Gopro? There isn't much room on the bars and I don't really want to sticky pad the Gopro to the body work. So if you have alternative methods a photo would be great 👍

No clue on the GoPro. A RAM-B-367U will replace one of your handlebar clamp bolts and put a ball right on top of the clamp (bolt goes down through it).

    hope this helps

Yes, where or did you get it or did you use a cutting machine to do it with.  It looks super nice, much bette than the red reflective stickers Ive contemplated.  Have thought about a red LED strip on each sidecase for an extra brake light but would need wiring with a plug.

I put one of these above the license plate mount on my FJR:

    SS-T3.jpg

The Feniex T3 is fiercely bright. This...

Got pins/connectors/loom from Cycle Terminal, made an in-line M/F jumper with the T3 tied to the brake wires, rest just passed straight through.

If I go that route on the Tracer would mount it right over the license plate/right through the reflector...

Light is easily “set” to 3 fast flashes then constant on. Very very bright for a tiny footprint.

Used Inkscape to convert a graphic stolen from the web to a .svg file that was imported into the software purchased immediately after my wife brought home a Black Friday sale Cricut cutter years ago.

The vinyl is readily available, but is relatively pricey.

Thanks for the replies and advice.

If you do your own 600 miles service does it invalidate warranty.

If not how will a prospective future buyer of your bike might possibly be turned off because it does not

have an official Yamaha dealer stamp in the service book.

For a recent example of one instance in the US,, I recently traded in my ‘15 FJR A w/25k miles to a local long-time dealership. I had just completed its 2nd big service/checked valve clearances. The only thing I hadn’t done according to MamaYamas recommendations was to change the brake/clutch hoses.

They had performed the 600mile service (had 300 miles on it when I bought it), the rest was done by me/documented by a printed black&white photo of the odometer/accompanied by receipts for parts used, written description of service performed.

Only thing the service guys squawked was the Angel GTs that were about 40% worn.

They told me if I did the same w/my Tracer, warranty claims would never be an issue...

Bottom line is-either way really doesn’t affect market value, you could maybe make an argument with regard to making it harder/easier to actually “sell”...

  16. Got the FJ GPR stabilizer fitted about a week ago.

Took quite a bit of filing on the LH portion of the “bridge” fitting that straddles the frame neck.

Initially, the bridge fitting was twisted to the left so much that it didn’t clear the top fork clamp when cranked to the right/alignment from the actual stabilizer to its plate was not even close.

Relieving the left side allowed it to rotate around the air box mounting bolt to properly line everything up.

Have had three straight days of some fairly high cross-winds on the highway commute, and currently set on “9” is solid as a rock.

Still get pushed around by the wind, but don’t get the “weave”...and is eliminated at a ton-up also.

Did have to remove the motopump risers due to the stab bracket lifting the risers 8mm up off the top clamp. Woulda had to do some serious cable/harness tweaks to get enough slack, was borderline tight with the risers. Hoping my shoulder/neck can deal with the “change”.

  17. You’re welcome.

With all the matte finishes out there, I was very surprised that there aren’t more “visible”products/info available.

Was a couple months ago, but I think I had read that Beasley’s kits were standard equipment back when Hyundai released their matte Veloster.

Not trying to “sell” anything-just was about the only info on anyone’s “system” that I was able to find...
