  1. Mark, Are you saying that those side cases you have fit directly into the OEM mounts? If so, what brand are they? Do you recommend anything else? The Shad cases look great and the mounting is nice and clean, but if I go with those, that means the original Yamaha ones I have will not get used at all, and I want to keep them on for shorter trips.
  2. Well, I am trying to make good use of the OEM panniers as well. I do not want to have a set of brackets for holding aftermarket panniers because it won't allow me to use the smaller ones. I think the only option is to get some FJR panniers. It will be the wrong colour but that doesn't really matter. Perhaps I could do a vinyl wrap anyway
  3. I can see a far-away shot of the 2021 mounts in a video, but not really close enough to get a good idea. It almost looks like the internal holders for the new bike are mounted to the frame with no shrouding around them. Perhaps they are the same internal mounts.
  4. Seeing that the Tracer 9GT has not been delivered to Canada yet (at least Ontario), I'm not able to find out if the panniers off the 2021 fit on the older models. I have a 2020. These new panniers look bigger, but I have no idea if they'll work. Sounds like wishful thinking but hey...
  5. Focusing on the positive....focusing on the positive....😬
  6. Thanks! I'm wondering about the heat effects on Cordura. Apparently this is the selling feature for kevlar - it does not burn at low temperatures, so it will not melt and fuse with human skin in the event of a slide on pavement. Melting point is 500 degrees. I pulled this from the web: 500 °C Nomex melts and simultaneously decomposes at approximately 350 °C (660 °F); the melting point of Kevlar is above 500 °C (930 °F). The higher melting point of Kevlar, as well as its greater stiffness and tensile strength, partly results from the regular para-orientation of its molecules. The melting point of Cordura is lower: 254˚C The INVISTA nylon 6.6 fibre used in CORDURA® fabrics has a melting point of 254˚C (commodity nylon 6 has a melt temperature of 219˚C). I am not sure what temperatures to expect when sliding, and I'm sure that it depends on the speed you were travelling at and the specific coeficient of friction of the material on your jacket. If it's possible to exceed 254 degrees celsius, it makes sense to go with kevlar.
  7. Aerostich is denier and cordura construction, right? Motoport is using kevlar, so I am considering going that direction.
  8. Anyone ever go with the Adventure Spec Gear? Specifically thinking about the mesh Mongolian.
  9. Yes, I might try an Aerostich. Not really sure what the difference is between the Roadcrafter and the Darien, other than the ability to zip the pants to the jacket on the roadcrafter. I have some Aerostich pants that are 15 years old and still in excellent shape. They are so easy to get on and off that i go to them frequently. I ordered them a bit on the big side, so the knee pads sit a bit low when standing. Because of the sizing, I wouldn't say they are the sexiest things going. But then again, I really haven't had any safety gear that looks "great" because, after all, it IS safety gear, and the pads and textiles don't really make them amenable to fashion. So might as go Aerostich and get the quality, customization, all at a fair fair price.
  10. About that length, maybe an inch or two longer.
  11. These two happy guys are wearing slightly longer coats than usual, perhaps two or three inches. Not my style, though, and I didn't check the armor level.
  12. Styles have changed. I have a jacket from 2008 and it is definitely a different cut from something you would buy today. It is possible to have a longer motorcycle coat if the bottom of the coat has a flap so that it can separate when you sit down.
  13. For sure, I could try a long instead of a regular, but, in general, I wish the styles would go back to a longer cut. I also wish that the manufacturers would leave the apocalyptic look alone and go back to more simple looking stuff.
  14. Thanks. That's for sizing, but I'm primarily looking for a jacket with a longer cut, regardless of size.
  15. Hey Everyone, Just wondering if anyone has had any luck finding a touring or adventure jacket that's a little longer than standard. Most of them are about crotch length, but I'd rather have something that has a bit of a longer cut, coming down an extra couple of inches. Thanks, J
  16. No matter how you slice it, I love the Tracer. I know that a full review by the traditional magazines should be coming for the new version fairly soon, as the test bike had made its way to the US already (it was in another video released by a dealer, who used it to go over its features). All in all, I wonder how different it will be, but I really don't have any complaints about the current one.
  17. So...I'm a beaker now....Before and aft. What's the consensus?
  18. Hah hah, I think there are other people better-suited to style and color trends! Quite a few other people....😆
  19. Sorry to hear of your unfortunate "accident" 😄 Send us a picture with the black panels. Anyone been discussing the new version? Of course, there are no full reviews yet, correct? Are they even on shore yet? I really don't understand the Japanese styling some days. After all of this time, I am sure they are keenly aware of styling trends. Would it really take that much to put someone in charge of this to spruce things up? You know, just someone who could review the all of the styling before production and let them know of any faux pas they are making.
  20. Yes, it looks good. I was always a fan of the 2019 black, silver, with some purply-blue accents and wheels. I ended up with the 2020 and the coppery-red, black everywhere 🤔 Not sure how they came up with some of their ideas. I see Yamaha dropped those nice carbon fibre look-alike panels...was there a frame change, so they would no longer fit? Or did they just drop them? Then some years they anodize the wheels, other years they are just plain black.... Strange styling clues sometimes.
  21. ...so you can stop your beakin' off....!! JK JK 😅
  22. Well...I'm going to change it! I bought the Puig beak at the end of Feb and it shipped today. Where did you get the carbon fibre side panels?
  23. Wondering if I can get some info on where your accessories are from: 1) Beak (I ordered a Puig yesterday) 2) Carbon fiber side panels 3) Crash Bars 4) Hand guards Are you happy with all of your add-ons? Anything you would change?
  24. I checked MachineArt Moto. Doesn't look like they make one for the Tracer.
