I'm sticking with my 900GT.  It does everything I need it to, be it short trips or long ones.  It's comfy and handles well, so it's definitely a keeper.  I added an MRA windshield but I find that the Handlebar touches it at full stop, so I'm going to remove the edge molding and sand it a bit.

    Can’t you adjust handlebars?

And wrenching continued today. This time: beak transferred, brake fluid reservoirs cups transferred as well as SW Motech tank bag mounting ring and the tank bag, kickstand enlargement plate and hand guards. Yamaha top case rack and box on new bike replaced with Givi set from the old one.

And more stuff on “new” bike. First I replaced dog bones back to the stock set up (it was lowered by previous owner). It can be done without removing the wheel and dropping exhaust btw. as some of you suggested here. After that was time to transfer engine guards. Done. Finally I installed the spacer that raised the seat about 8mm. Few other thinks left which I’m planning to do tomorrow.

  3. I prefer them attached to forks/fender mounting bolts. This way they are basically in constant movement (more noticeable to others) and they are pretty far from turn signals (this way not interrupting function of them).

Got new bike this week (new to me). In fact exactly the same as the old one 2019 900 GT. The only difference is the new one comes with 4000km when the old one with 20000 and the fact it is basically stock. Today was a first day that I had a chance to start transfer some stuff. So far windscreen, radiator grill and managed to relocate the handlebars to the stock position (closer to rider). What left? The beak, auxiliary lights, GPS, engine guards, skid plate, foot pegs, stock dog bones, sidekick enlargement plate and top case mounting rack.

Rick - What were the circumstances for getting the same bike back to back?  Was one damaged in a crash?

No, no damage and no crash. Last one I put on road with 6500km (4000miles) 1-st of July 2023. By the time I finished riding season last year it had 20 000km (12 000miles)  on it. Right now almost 21 000. So I figured out that by the time I finish this riding season it will perhaps get up to 50 000km (30 000miles). It will be hard to sell it without loosing a lot of money. Why not to get one with 4000km (2.500 miles) if the price is right and be ok for another riding season.

I've only had 3 tanks that I kept up with the milage on so far. Each was 40MPG. Doesn't seem to matter how I ride it, I get the same.

Ivan's tune. 20" Madstad shield. 30L Givi Dolomiti box. Stock exhaust. Various riding styles and types of roads.

It seems pretty low. I’m averaging around 50MPG and it seems pretty constant  (2 FJ09 previously, Tracer 900 standard and now on GT).

Probably should have updated this really! I’ve had her for a couple of weeks, managed to put about 750 miles on her and she is an absolute belter! Way quicker than I expected, quicker than the GSA over short ish distances, not as quick anything over about 100 miles.

Handling is good, the guy that had her before used her 2 up with luggage so even at my 125kg in gear I’ve needed to soften the suspension a touch. It’s not the magic carpet that the GSA was, but very few things are.

The engine is a peach, and the induction roar is addictive. My Hayabusas used to sound furious when you opened the throttle, this just sounds happy to be there! 🤣

I’m unconvinced about the tyres. Metzeler Roadtec, or something. They feel heavy and reluctant to change direction. I’ve fiddled with pressures to no avail so they will hopefully be going soon. Not sure what to replace them with. Toss-up between Dunlop Mutants and Pirelli Road 35’s, or whatever number we’re on. The Mutants look cooler, so they may be the choice. 😎

Other than that, I think I’ll just ride her as much as I can before the really horrible weather sets in. Now I have the luxury of not having to commute every day I shall allow myself to be a bit more of a fair weather rider. I don’t need to go out in -8c any more, so I won’t.

Good choice. You won’t be disappointed. I got my GT 2.5 months ago. That’s after 2015 and 2017 FJ09 (43000km in one year on 2017). Not single issue. At the beginning of this year I got 2019 standard Tracer 900 but few months later found great deal on low mileage 2019 GT. After 2.5 months on the road and 10 000km already I couldn’t be happier. Great bike. And cruise control is its best feature. Ride safe and enjoy it.

My old 2015 FJ09 on a road trip from San Francisco to Oregon. Pic was taken near Eureka, CA

And my new Tracer 9 GT

Sold my FJ09, tried a few different bikes (CB1000R, R1200GS, Versys) and came back to the FJ09/Tracer. Great bike.

    I agree and … congratulations!

  10. Congratulations. Ride safe and enjoy it. Seems like sometimes it’s worth to take a risk…btw my first one was also 2017 fully loaded. Than was 2015, 2019 Tracer 900 and for last 6 weeks Tracer 900GT. Already 6000km on my own on it. Great bikes.
