    Well, you still have a problem if you dont know why it clogged. Could just be an o2 sensor, but rich fuel mixture is likely a bigger issue. All the messi g around with mapping often causes lots of problems IMO.

    I have a trip tentatively scheduled next year for the Black Hills area of S.D. and between Spearfish Canyon, Deadwood, Keystone, Iron Mountain, Sturgis, Needles Highway, Crazy Horse, Mt Rushmore, Rapid City, Vanocker Canyon etc. I'm having a hard time planning a route to fit it all in within my time frame. 

    When I'm on a road trip I'm more into riding vs. stopping for tourist attractions but its still 2-3 full days of riding in the area plus getting to some of it on the way in (CanAm Hwy and Spearfish Canyon) and some on the way back home (Custer State Park area and Hotsprings).

    There are a lot of twisty mountain and canyon roads in the Black Hills area.

     

    Be aware that around Rushmore you may catch a glimpse while riding in the area but you will not be allowed to stop along the road. At least that was the case my last time there. Devils tower is isolated, interesting, but with nothing nearby I wouldnt go uot of my way to see it. Incidently, the little boy in Close Encounters of 3rd Kind was a neighbor years ago when in HS. Very nice kid. That part of SD is neat though, and a zoo during Sturgis.

    On the NGK site, when looking for plugs for the FJ-09 / Tracer NGK only list a "Standard" plug, NOT an Iridium alternative. The part No for the standard plug is CPR9EA-9 # Stock Number 2308
     
     
    It sounds to me as though the Iridium plug CR9EIA-9 probably is the equivalent to CPR9EA-9 ... but that doesn't explain why there is no iridium listing on the NGK site for the FJ09?
     
     
    Finally as a comment to CocoST, are you sure that you actually fitted the correct plug (id est, did you check the actual plugs? - who know's whether they accidentally ended up in the correct box?
     
     

    For me, if a supplier says they dont fit my application I DONT BUY THEM! Could be lots of reasons-heat range, too long or short, lots of reasons. Why ask for problems. And if somebody who wants to sell me something but says dont buy it thats good enough for me.

    Last year I did a 4k mile trip from Oregon to Minnesota and back. I replaced my front tire before the trip, but decided to replace the rear when I got to Minnesota and had some down time. That turned out to be a mistake. Even in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area I had a hard time finding a shop with my desired tire in stock and/or time in their schedule to mount it. And every shop there was quite a bit more expensive than my favorite local shop here in Oregon. In the future I will always take care of tires using my known-good local shop before embarking on such a trip. 

    Arent the Tracer plugs irrodiums!? If not when I can change them they will be!

  8. A bike as new as yours should be good for abou any trip. My 4 bikes were good for any ride at any time because I did common sense inspections weekly. I have ridden with a guy who tries to get every mile possible out of a tire. He frets every second of a ride. If his tire blows it affects everyone else on the ride. I think if there is no doubt a tire will soon be shot shortly (2-3 days) into a ride I change it, and sure as hell don't keep it to resell. Not worth the work and if I need the $ that badly I'd stay home. I changed my own tires for over 25 yrs and still didn't keep dead ones. If riding with others, everybody doesn't need to carry an air pump, or patch kit, or multimeter (useless too if you don't know how to use it). Worry about fuel range, water, cell phone range, credit cards, and companion habits-are they reckless, want to sleep late, is 300 miles a full day or 500+, picky about motels, etc.

  9. Motorcycle seats are ridiculously expensive I fully agree. IMO the bike manufactures could easily tweek what they put on their bikes and provide acceptable comfort for a huge percentage of their buyers. Bet there are lots of us who have tried different items to improve riding comfort. But(t) when the hot spots flair up during a ride most of us will try anything! The most comfortable stock seat I ever had was on my KLR650, all day comfortable for me on many week long + trips. The least comfortable is the stocker on my new 2020 Yamaha Tracer 900GT. The fool who designed that stupid silver thing affixed to the front of the pillion seat deserves some sort of punishment 😬.

    To each his own. I splurged on what I knew would solve my discomfort problem because cheaper options were all on back order. While I intend to keep riding as long as I can, at my age I won't waste a day of valuable riding time waiting on "we'll advise when this item becomes available" from seat comfort vendors affected by the business shut/slowdown due to the Covid issue. 

    Anyway Ride365, sounds like your arse is happy, mine is happy! Let's keep riding safely and ENJOY!!

    I've used AH a couple times, just doesn't cut it. Different arses hang off the oem seat differently. AH is not rocket science to use, but its not for everyone. Works 4 U, great. Not so for many others.

  11. I appreciate the sentiment. But my post wasn't intended to be all about me. Some our age ride 100 mile days ane are beat. Others go to breakfast or lunch and for ice cream afterward. My "older" riding buddies kept doing what they loved. I intend to do the same. Hope we all do. Why not?!

    If you can geat the comfort seat thrown in AND they can get it do it. NOBODY has them or kniws when available. That oem is torture. I didnt want to chance the Bagster without the fancy foam, or wait for the comfort. The guy in TN, is so backed up he isnt taking orders. Seat Concepts did not have anything for the GT, but if they did I'd give them a try. I paid the national debt for a Sargent. It does not fit the 2p2p GT as they say, but I got it to work just fine by altering the bike seat fittings. Was'nt gonna mess up a $600 seat, when $6 of bike parts could work. The Sargent is almost 3" wider in the dish and comfy so far over 300 miles.
