It actually broke while I was riding. It was a PITA to install as well. Went with the alu rack and was very happy with the quality and sturdiness. I love mine. Have used it to strap a tent, sleeping bag and foam pad too. Worked perfect. Only rack I have ever owned, so I can't compare it to another brand. I paid $55 but it looks like the price has gone up by $10. Still a bargain with free shipping. YamaGeezer Posted June 14, 2016 Share Posted June 14, 2016 Suncoaster - sorry for the delay in responding. I chose not to paint my new rack, but I did find a couple small plugs that fit into the openings in the front of the frame. I panted them black (were blue) and they fit perfectly. This way I don't worry about any water getting in and possibly causing problems, down the road. I also mounted a top box on mine and it rides perfectly.
