  1. 2016 Australian/Japanese Tracer here. Never had any of the throttle problems that the US model had. Does yours have the California emissions (de)tune ?
  2. What are you getting ? Mine got Michelin Road 5s last month before the trip to Phillip island. Solid performance, wet, dry and dirt; 5200 km so far and plenty of meat left on them.
  3. @dazzler24 Yes, you're right. It is Sofala, which linked up with the Bylong Valley is now my favoured way to bypass Sydney en route to the southern states.
  4. Another of the Bagster seat with sheepskin in a faraway place.
  5. Bought one from Motostorm a month or so ago, then rode 5200km on it over 3 weeks. After the first day I put my sheepskin on it. I found it much better than the stock seat.
  6. Had the low profile Mazda plug on my 2015, it had an 8 or 8.5mm socket. Soft metal. Replaced it with one of these, "814-M14BLK", several brands available. I prefer the 6mm socket. Used a Yamaha crush washer, cheaper and better quality than the auto parts store version. M14x1.5 thread.
  7. Thanks Lawrence. I've got one on the way, on your glowing recommendations. Would it be worth still using an airhawk and a sheepskin I wonder ? I'll have to give them a trial.
  8. Hi Lawrence We've just completed half a lap, that was 19,000 km in 4 months around half of Australia, in a 4wd. Hunter Valley, Bylong Valley, Hill End, Crookwell, Tumut to Jingellic, King Valley, Yarra Valley, McLaren Vale, Barossa, Clare Valley, Flinder's Ranges, (rain on Oodnadatta track so) Port Augusta , then up the centre via Uluru, turned right at Tennant Creek, left at Camooweal to Lawn Hill. Then Karumba (best Barramundi ever !) across to Cooktown (missed you). Then Atherton, Charters Towers, Ravenswood, Hughenden, Richmond, Winton, Longreach, Barcaldine, Charleville, Chinchilla, The Bunyas and home. And a few places in between. Planning to ride to Phillip Island in February for the superbikes, (that's the excuse anyway), so about 3,500-4000km over a couple of weeks on the Tracer. Want to come along ? Very interested in your Bagster seat, I've an Airhawk and a sheepskin, and a bit of foam at the front of the stock seat to re angle it, and it's still not very comfortable. Also sometimes use padded shorts which make the most difference to my sit bones comfort. Have you had a chance to try it out ? Is it worth the $ (I reckon about $40 per day on that trip) ?
  9. Great list of reviews. I've used 2 sets of Alpine MotoSafe so far, and found the noise reduction was good; however, on rides over about 4 hours I developed a headache. I think it was from the modulated air pressure that did get through. I currently use Howard Leights, and am considering trying some Plugfones for the integrated bluetooth, even though I have Sena speakers adequate for GPS and phone. Curious about the new Sony wf-1000xm3 noise cancelling earbuds, but not quite enough to conduct a $300 experiment..
  10. Hi guys. Gee, haven't touched my mod for a while. I have changed screens a couple of times. Currently have a cut down stock screen and a beak, which I think helps with the buffeting. My only gripe now is head shake when accelerating over 140kph, for example when overtaking. Here's an old post about the bicycle clips. https://www.tracer900.net/topic/3440-windshield-flutter/?do=findComment&comment=39553
  11. I bought one - it came from the Baltic states, and is fibreglass rather than plastic. After a few coats of paint and re-drilling a hole or two it's on. If it cracks or breaks it's going in the bin. One side effect: it seems to have smoothed the frontal airflow a little. Before you put yours on try and guage this to see if there's any difference, it may just be my perception.
  12. Here's the Ogio, branded Dainese. note it has an expansion zip too. It has straps which I've looped under the rear seat to a carabiner, so the seat can come off with the bag attached, or the bag comes off via the plastic buckles. Each side pocket will hold a plastic water bottle.
  13. You certainly succeeded with that first sentence.
  14. While I don't think the bike is pretty or beautiful in any way (looks like a child has rolled it in a transformers parts bin), I do prefer the blue forks and blurple wheels. They match the blurple skies.
  15. Maybe the short Givi screen ? I have re-drilled the (cut down) stock screen so that it uses the Givi mount in summer.
  16. Tongue-in-cheek firmly, I assume, sun! Unless your last bike was a Bugatti Veyron...Actually not tongue in cheek. My Yamaha R6 went to an indicated 15,500 RPM and 2nd gear would hit 160 kph. I tested it many times.. (on a racetrack). The 2001 model made max horsepower of 120 hp (87.6 kW) at 13,000 RPM, max speed 163 mph (262.4 km/h). 10.8 second quarter mile. I never took mine over about 245 kph (on a racetrack).
  17. I find it amusing how different people have different expectations from this bike. Ex cruiser riders may find it psychologically hard to rev. My last bike revved to 15,500 RPM and you could use 2nd gear all day as 2nd gear went up to 160kph. Around town you could pull away from the lights in second and not change between lights. On this I rarely get over 9,000 RPM..
  18. Ok, here goes. Originally at https://fj-09.org/post/44139/thread
  19. Thanks for the info. I have fused wires with SAE connectors from the battery to run my lights, with a join under the seat to power my compressor. Rewired a $12 compressor from the local autobarn with mated SAE connectors (need to get polarity correct). It works well. A few of the Dual Sport guys around here use and swear by Anderson plugs for the same uses. It's sort of a standard with them, so they can all share a compressor/coffee grinder/whatever.
  20. Inspired by @kiwicanuck at https://fj-09.org/post/38400/thread , I fitted an Ogio tail bag. There was a recent review in webbikeworld.com, they are discontinued, and I had to hunt around for one, but it was marked down a lot. This one is branded Dainese D-tail bag but is made by Ogio and called "tail duffle stealth". A good fit, I used a carabiner instead of keyrings on the seat base.
  21. Que? Sorry, poor attempt at humour. I misread trial-pack as in "trial packet" of something like chocolate, or cheese, or something vaguely analogous to the lure of touring.
  22. Trial-pack: "Of what?" I thought.. "Did a trial-pack..." Consuming some highly addictive substance no doubt.
  23. Hey Lawrence- maybe your penchant for gold pinstripe is influenced by the gold pinstripe on your favourite tipple (in those cases in the background) ? Minchinbury Crisp Classic Brut.. x_x
  24. They look good. Are they the same as the ones on the Super Tenere?
