tripleb
Hello all, in a very short time I'll have reached 600 miles on my new blue rocket, which means that I'll be ready for my first service. So here is what I was thinking, while my bike is in the shop, and the tank is off the bike, would it be a good idea to have the dealer install a fuel management system ( such as a Power commander 5 ) as I do plan on adding an exhaust system in the very near future. (Still weighing in all the pros and cons on the systems that have caught my eye so far) just figured that there is no sense in removing the tank twice if I didn't have to. Now on the flipside of that, I've been reading that Quite a few of you have been getting your bikes flashed, but I'm not to thrilled on sending my (ecm) box out and being down for roughly a week and a half to two weeks, so if I were to purchase a second box, and then have it flashed, would that be more cost effective down the road for me? I basically use this bike for day trips with friends of mine on the weekends. My riding style is somewhat aggressive within reason, and the only mod I plan on doing is to swap out the stock exhaust system. Now with that information, do you think I'll be better off with a flash or a plug and play fuel management system? Thanks in advance guys.

The ECU gets flashed the same day it arrives, just choose the quicker shipping option instead of the normal cheap flat rate boxes... 2012 wr250f - C-class 30+ age group 2015 fz-07- Hordpower Edition-80whp 2015 fj-09- Graves Exhaust w/Woolich tune by 2WDW @120whp

Where do you live that it will take 1.5 - 2 weeks to get your ECU flashed and reinstalled? 2WDW has same day turnaround, and removal and replacement is 45 minutes each if you take your time. The nice thing about the flash, Nels and his crew have fuel maps already made for whatever exhaust you choose. If the only change you make is an aftermarket exhaust I would think a power commander would be a waste of your money since the fuel map is already taken care of with the ECU flash. Your best bet is to call Nels or one of his crew (425-269-5332) and discuss your needs and available options. They are very knowledgeable and willing to help. ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***
tripleb
I'm new to this flashing process, as I always just purchased a fuel management system when I was on the Harley's ( cough cough ) As for shipping out my ecm, I live in upstate NY about 50 miles north of Albany for those that questioned my location. From what some of you are saying, the flashing option sounds like the smarter way to go, and I'll more than likely go this route. If only the exhaust on the FJ were of a 2 piece design, as we could just purchase slipons then and be done with it.
norcal616
The ECU fits in the little USPS book sized flat rate boxes in which also the box fits inside the LG padded envelopes...when I sent my FZ-07 ECU to 2WDW using the priority 2day envelopes shipping was like $15 more for both ways from the middle of Michigan... 2012 wr250f - C-class 30+ age group 2015 fz-07- Hordpower Edition-80whp 2015 fj-09- Graves Exhaust w/Woolich tune by 2WDW @120whp
blkbrd
Albany is a 2 hour drive to Ivan's Performance in Congers. You could have it in and out same day.
