I was looking at the BMW F800GT, then the new Triumph Tigers, then saw the MT-09 Tracer (FJ-09 for some). Pretty much exactly what I'm looking for. Been riding several decades, like touring (Tasmania is the best), spent a lot of time on the Victorian Spurs. Was in the DoD back in the early 90s, am inspired by films like "Long way round", and am quite fond of cafe racer hipster bikes like the XS650. I think the Tracer needs farkling with: Hugger extension Fender extension Hand guard lights Driving lights Seat cover Seat concepts mod Seat angle change Radiator guard Engine protectors Dashcams - 90 degree front & 120 degree rear - Innovv C3 Heated grips Rubber footpegs Mirror extenders Wheel reflective stickers - Green on starboard, red on port ? Windscreen mod/replacement - Wunderlich wind deflector Suspension tweak/upgrade Tank leg grips Horn upgrade Belly pan Mobile phone/tablet mount Screen protectors to stop glare Adjustable clutch lever Headlight lens protection film Cruise control/throttle lock Grip puppies Left swingarm protection from boot rub Sump plug mod Remapped ECU Bar risers Carbon fibre wrap pannier brackets Highway pegs ? I have also been interested in many of those other bikes and I have to admit that after watching LWR that I was inspired to buy an 1150GS and I spent about 90K of the happiest miles of my life on that bike and desperately miss it. But they keep going UP in value!! A decent used 1150 costs essentially what a brand new FJ does and it's 200 lbs lighter with roughly the same power.....
