  1. BBW-F840E-01-00 TOP CASE34L (Yamaha) $156.83 color panels sold separately
  2. I just installed the 34l using that exact mount. 2022 9 gt. got it from Partzilla. Had to order the red panels from Ireland. Only black panels available in the US. The 34l looks more aerodynamic, and doesn’t block rear view vision. Has quick detach. Big enough for full faced helmet plus. With the saddlebags, the total is plenty of luggage.
  3. Great info thank you. I need to get a service manual 😁
  4. Wondering why the cornering lights can’t just always be on. Why only in corners? Would improve visibility to others and for the rider. Anyone modified theirs?
  5. Installed new Yamaha 34L top box. Was able to order matching Redline Red color panels from Flood Marine in Ireland. Not available in the US. The 34L is the perfect size for me. Big enough to easily stow helmet if side cases are full or if I leave the side cases at home to split freeway traffic when have to go to LA. Also small enough that it is completely behind me so it doesn’t catch extra wind. Aerodynamic. Other cases are too big in my opinion. If detach the top case, the new mount actually doesn’t look bad. Extends the top of the rear to match the fender thing. Question: See pic with side cases installed. Those are the stock black color panels. I can order red ones from Europe. Should I, or is it enough red already?
  6. Thanks. Yeah the bolt thing is odd. 17mm socket wouldn’t fit all the way to base of bolt head. Started marring the edges, especially since the bolt was very tight. 11/16 then fit perfectly, all the way to base and precise no-wiggle fit. Cracked the bolt open with a firm pull. All good. To one poster: 11/16 or 17mm is the bolt head size, not the thread size. Maybe others are successful with 17mm socket because the bolt is already cracked open from previous. My bolt was VERY tight from factory, on first oil change. Anyone reading this in the future should not assume I’m right. It’s more likely an anomaly of some type.
  7. No. Same riding. The change in vibration was instant, following oil change.

  9. Nope. Only change was the oil, filter, and I cleaned and lubed the chain with Motul.
  10. It’s 10w40. https://www.mobil.com/en/lubricants/for-personal-vehicles/our-products/products/mobil-1-racing-4t-10w-40 Don’t know about wet clutch compatible. They file it as motorcycle oil so I’d think it compatible. Anyway no clutch problems since change. I am seeing now other sites people saying it’s noisy oil. Valve train etc. But not much said about vibration although might be related. I picked this oil because it was the most chosen in a MC user survey I found. I might have to dump it ($60 with filter) and go back to Yamalube.
  11. Did the 600 mile oil change. Put in Mobile 1 MC Racing synthetic. Now bike is buzzy. It had vibration before but it was tolerable. Now it’s putting my hands to sleep. Only change is the oil, filter, and I cleaned and lubed the chain with Motul. Why buzzy now? Any info on this type of oil regarding?
  12. Just did the 600 mile break in oil change. Thought the drain plug would be metric, 17mm. But it’s US 11/16. 😏 Nearly stripped the head assuming. Main reason for post: The manual says 3.4 quarts oil capacity. I drained hot oil on level ground on center stand 20 min after ride. Also removed filter. Replenished with 3 quarts after installing new filter, started motor. Then let sit. Viewed sight glass on level ground (confirmed by iPhone level) and it was right at the top of the circle, above top line. Rode the bike a few miles, rechecked. Still over filled. Had to then pump about a half pint out of the fill hole. Now at top line. So, if the capacity is 3.4qt, and I put in 3 and then removed .25, then where did the remaining .65 quarts go?
  13. Did you get the clear or smoke version of the MRA? If smoke, does it reduce through-screen visibility at night, especially through both the screen and deflector when retracted?
  14. Thanks, am now looking at the MRA. Good reviews youtube etc. Thick plastic looks sturdy. Also attractive shape for this bike. Like the increased adjustability. Seems like it will greatly reduce wind noise. I have a new Shoei helmet, not sure which model but not cheap. The noise at any speed over 45mph includes a sort of popping sound that I can feel in my eardrums. Like someone lightly boxing my ears. Annoying even with plugs. intolerable without. Screen height adjusting does little to change the effect. I’m 5’ 11”.
