I had a nice 100 mile ride on my 1250GS on a 35 degree overcast day. Heated gear is your friend.

No one cares about your new bike like you do……complete your service by yourself and know it was done correctly.

I used the Motopumps risers…..up and back with no problems.

Well, if you live in IL, that might be a problem given the extended winters and weather
But in Sunny California, you can ride year round, and that puts a lot of road grime and crud on the bike. I typically clean mine after about 3 or 4 rides, or when the bike ends up coated with grime.
Same here…..our weather has moderated to milder winters with very little snow (southern Illinois). I ride more in the winter than summer due to the heat and high summer humidity. I do keep my bikes pretty clean…..just don’t clean after every ride as I have been riding 25000 to 30000 miles a year for the last 6-7 years.

Should you wash it after every ride?
Absolutely not……that cuts into riding time.

Agree, I doubt free play will change anything.
The longer clutch arm smooths out and lengthens the friction zone of the clutch…..it is worth the $15.00 and ten easy minute install to try out.

Hi, my 2017 tracer is having issues since I brought it out of isolation, it starts fine when cold and hot but if I leave the bike for a while (till it's below running temp but not fully cold) I hit the button and the bike turns over and catches and immediately shuts off. The only way to start it is with holding the throttle open while turning over and holding the revs above idle for a few seconds until it will idle... runs spot on otherwise.
When did it last have a valve clearance check? Tight valves lead to start problems when hot. But, run a few tanks of fuel through it to clean things up.

I owned both the Tracer 900 GT and a Tenere 700……the Tenere 700 CP-2 engine is one of the best engines that I have ever owned and the MT-07/XSR700/Tracer 700 should be at the top of your list.

I only wear mesh air pants year round which include the rain liners/jeans underneath when colder…….due to the fact that I can’t stand the heat and humidity in the summer where I live.
That said, I have been successfully using Frog Toggs for about a dozen years now for rain overpants. They have never let me down by leaking although their appearance is not the greatest after some wear. They pill up and can look somewhat ragged after a couple of seasons……I throw them away every once and while and buy another pair for around $30.00. They are super light, pack small, and come in tall lengths for my long legs.
I use a regular Olympia rain overcoat over my riding jacket for rainy days.

My cruise control went off and the orange light started flashing and I couldn’t reset a speed. I turned off the motor, turned it back on and the cruise worked again for a few minutes, then went off. Anyone else?
Is your bike subject to the Yamaha recall that replaces the front brake switch?

That is some serious mileage! Do you ride daily? Just curious how you pack on those miles. Is some of that commuting back and forth to work, or are you retired and pleasure riding daily?
I am retired but only ride about 10,000 miles a year, April through October. Definitely a fair weather rider. This year I hope to do more!!
I am retired and ride every chance I get. I take several bike trips a year which last year accounted for almost 12,000 miles and have at least 12-13,000 miles of trips scheduled for 2023 with several friends. I live in the St. Louis, MO area and have had mostly mild, minimal snow winters for several years allowing year round riding.
My riding goal when retired was to ride at least 20,000 miles per year for twenty years straight. This is my 18th year and still on goal. My big year was 2017 with a little over 36,000 bike riding miles…….mostly on a Super Tenere.

Before my health issues really crimped my game from 2020 on I averaged 10~15K miles per season the prior 48 years, which since moving here in 81 from San Diego is May through maybe November...and 90% of the miles BION are within only a 300 mile radius!
Though even with 3 surgeries within 12 months since August of 21 and thus this season for me not starting until July, I managed about 5k miles 😞
Cuz I'm semi-tough but certainly have gotten much softer and inflexible, and definitely will never qualify for an Iron Butt.
I hope in another 15 months I'll be back to my old average and do most of it +500 miles from the ranch!
Chicagoland metro traffic would knock a lot of miles off of anybody’s riding. Good luck with the healing process…..takes longer as you age.

Over 30,000 miles so far this year and over 34,000 miles in 2021. I have ridden 20,000+ miles for 17 years straight including this year and my goal is twenty consecutive 20,000 mile riding years.
I am currently down to one motorcycle after selling my Tracer 900 GT in the summer and selling my Tenere 700 last month. So, I have been piling the miles on my Super Tenere.

Where did you get that pin striping for your side bags?
I picked up some scrap graphics paper from a local store and cut the stripes to size on a workbench.

That happened with me on an older Super Tenere with factory cruise. I opened the switch housing slightly and sprayed contact cleaner in the switch while working all of the buttons and switches …… problem solved.

sprocket nut is off. There was no washer which is indicated in the manual. Not sure what to make of that.
Thanks!
Less weight with no washer…..every little bit helps.
Good job on the sprocket removal.

Did you adjust the chain by any chance. It is pretty easy to over tighten the chain slack.
