  1. In my never ending quest to achieve some wind protection, and getting it pretty good with a MRA I discovered that if I ducked down an inch or so it was ideal. I have tried rotating the risers and twisting the bars forward but that didnt make much difference. So my next option is either 60mm bar lowers and/or different handlebars Has any one done this? It seems the rizoma 60mm risers are the ones to go for and, from what I can see, the clearances are ok. When looking at bars it seems that renthall bars are the choice. I do find the bars a bit uncomfortable on the wrists. But what model would Choose to get a 30mm drop? ( i dont even know the height of the standard bars!) and could I combine the 2?? All advice is appreciated. Thanks
  2. So the saga continues!!! Latest mod was to rotate the bar risers forward and twist the bars forward to get a lower crouching position . I had hoped to swap the bars over to my old MT09 bars (which i had on the old tracer) but discovered they are identical to the GT bars. Its getting there but its just not as good as the old bike. Next modification is to start playing with spacers under the screen. I am thinking of adding spacers just at the top to increase the angle, but also considering some 5mm at the bottom so there is more air flow. After that I will try 60mm bar risers and/or different bars. Never bloody ends
  3. mine is 7% faster so a gps (garmin) 100mph is 107 on the tracer- Maybe its a euope thing?
  4. As the title says I need some trim clips that went missing during some work. for the tank cover and a few other bits. Any idea of what size they are?? Thanks in advance
  5. Got a feeling they wont fit the tracer 900 gt! But I will check
  6. would anyone be able to tell me the height of the bar riser from the yoke to the join please? I wonder if there is any difference between the 15-17 and the 18-20? does any one know of any lower bar risers available?
  7. Thanks for that. Do you mind me asking why they wouldnt fit? the part numbers are slightly different but they certainly look the same
  8. Will the OEM bar risers from a 2015-17 FJ / tracer fit onto a 2019 Tracer GT? TIA
  9. THats what i am hoping, as by dropping it down 1 notch from highest seemed to make a bit of improvement. At the moment it has higher bar risers. i am going to rotate them to induce more crouch, and maybe even buy some standard size ones to drop it down a tad
  10. Im trying that as well. Can i ask what works best for you as screen height and then spoiler height? so fare I have tried screen lowest, spoiler highest. Screen highest and spoiler highest. I am gong to keep the screen hight and start dropping the spoiler 1 notch at a time
  11. Well the mra vario saga continues. I am wondering if anyone has put spacers on the top (or bottom) to alter the angle of the screen? If so, what were the results?
  12. My thoughts exactly. Once I had the screen how I liked it I locked the bolts off and left it like that for 2 years. I would rather have a screen thats a pain to adjust but works. But I guess that doesnt sound so good on the brochures!
  13. So New bike means loads of mods to be done. On my old bike I had handguards with DRL on them, Indicators with DRL and a set of LED DRL. Pretty sure I took the power feed from the aux 2 port and all was good. So unless advice on here differs I will do that. Now where it gets (mildly) interesting is that the new handguards I have got have DRL and Indicator. I am toying with mounting them to the lower screw fixing of the indicator panel. or possibly get a bracket going across from the top fixing. So my plan was this. From the aux 2 wiring run 2 wires(one each side) down to the inside of the indicator panels. That would then spilt 3 ways to feed the indicator and handguard drl and the drl The indicator negative then splits 3 ways for the earth The indicator positive splits 2 ways for the indicator and handguard. Does that sound ok and the current used is pretty low. The DRL has an option to flash ( yes I no its naughty and not allowed) via a 3rd wire. What I would really like is for this option to kick when the hazards are switched on (but only the hazards not the indicators on their own) The only option I can see is to tap off the from the actual hazard switch. Any other options? Finally what way do you prefer to join/ splice your wires? Its not so bad in the hidden panels but in exposed areas I want it as neat as possible. I generally solder the wires and heatshrink the join and then heatshrink again. But this doesnt make for easy removal. On the tali tidy I have been fitting I have indicators with tail light and brake light and some led striplight on the topbox with the same. I have used bullet connectors for easy removal but it looks a right mess as I have had to make splitter cables as the brake light now has 5 separate outputs. Thanks in advance
  14. Well I have got the MRA vario Tried it out , and was disappointed. I had really high hopes for this. So far I have tried it in the fully raised position with the visor in the bottom and top position. Still way more wind and noise than my old 17 tracer with puig touring screen. To be fair if i crouched down a few inches it was bliss. I have raised bar risers so may drop back down to the original ( does anyone know what size they are? as I dont have them). One thing I noticed on my old puig that although it was smaller it had a proper mounting bracket that fitted to the bike. The one I have for the GT doesnt seem to have that? onwards and upwards?
  15. Thanks for the detailed response. As I said i put the old tracer screen on and it was horrible, noisy and felt like i was being blown off the bike. I may well try the puig just to see what difference there is between the GT version differs from the old tracer version. When I had it on the tracer I could ride with the visor up at 90+ You would expect a newer design would be better?
  16. That looks nice! just found a MRA vario going cheap so will try that
  17. Seems like the MRA Vario is very good. Can you tell me if you need the visor full up for the benefits? Also what is the height of just the screen? Finally has anyone tried it without the visor? what was it like? cheers all
  18. I reckon after a few months I could be agreeing with you!!!
  19. Well I have been playing around with the satnav mount, which meant taking the screen off. I have just fitted the old tracer screen ( had to drill 2 new holes at the top) I have to say it looks a lot better than the stock gt screen. Slightly shorter and jus covers the sat nav. Not sure how it will work though. I was toying with doing the same wit the old Givi I have, but its almost identical to the GT stock screen so I will try to sell it instead. I will read the review from MCN. Thanks
  20. Thanks for the replies The madstad just looks horrible to me ( sorry) I dont think I have tried enough options to try that yet ( and its bloody expensive) The MRA looks ok and its not too high 54cm with spoiler raised) Whats frustrating is that the puig touring on the tracer was really good, quiet and not too tall, for the GT its jus too big. I may do an experiment with one of my old tracer oem screens- drill it to fit then try various cut down options. Onwards and upwards
  21. thanks for that sounds like its good for buffeting (or lack of) but how about noise? Also in England the weather isnt quite so warm lol
  22. Sorry for the same old same old post I have just moved from a tracer 900 (17) to a 900GT On the tracer I had a Puig touring screen which, although wasnt pretty did a good job at protection. I picked up the GT with the standard screen and deflector. It was as good as previous bike. The bike which has been lowered also has a Puig touring screen, so I fitted that. It was bloody massive. Previous Puig I was peeking over the top. This one i am peering through it- which I hate. So I need to look at a new screen. Ones I am considering are the ermax touring and sport, puig racing and possibly trying to bodge something out of my 17 oem screen and the givi touring screen. Im 5ft 8 if that helps any Thoughts? Thanks in advance
  23. As per the title really. I am spraying up some after market handguards. I have a 2 stage paint on order and the company recommended 2k clear but thats Gloss. That doesnt seem right to me. What would you say to get the best match a saitn or matt(e) clear coat? TIA
  24. Hi I know this is an old thread but...... I am in the process of fitting different handguards which I will paint in the phantom blue. The question is what laquer / clear coat should I use? I dont think gloss would work. so Satin or matt? TIA
