  1. Im not sure what adjustments they have ( i know my bike has a special left to right twist adjustment!!!😀) but you can definitely change the springs as I had mine changed -upgraded progressive I think
  2. thats really interesting. Thanks Bizarrely I am almost tempted by the GT but then selling the luggage to recoup some costs
  3. Thanks for all the replies. It seems the main things people like are the heated grips, cc and QS I have oem heated grips off my bike ( dead easy to fit) the qs can be bought for under £200 Now CC- I was not bothered by it in the least as most of my riding is town riding ( except the 15mile each way motorway stretch) but everyone raves about it so maybe its a " it would be nice" thing. Luggage, again I was never that bothered but the more I think about it the more I think it might be nice on the odd occassion i want to use it. That said I bought a waterproof givi bag to put on the bike and have used it about 3 times. The real crux for me is the suspension. Is the rear shock actually better than the standard shock. I know its got remote adjustment, but whatever i get i will take to the local suspension place, get it set up and leave it be. And is the front better? again its got more adjustment but is it better? On my tracer I changed the front springs and put a Nitron R1 on the rear. It wasnt brilliant but it was so much better. I wonder whether the front is better so that if I change the springs again in will be better ( thus saving the need for new cartridges. I guess what i need to do is find a defined budget and see what machine i can get for my money.
  4. I take on board your points. I never really gelled with my tracers until I sorted the suspension out and put on an akra with a reflash. Obviously there are lots of little things have also done as well
  5. thanks for the reply but tracer 9 or tracer9gt are out of my budget.
  6. Thanks for the reply I use my bike as commuter bike into London (35m each way) I generally dont need more than the top box, but the paniers would be useful. Cruise control doesnt bother me and I have the heated grips. its more whether the suspension is good enough to justify the extra price with some added goodies
  7. Firstly apologies as I was not sure on whether to post in this or the Tracer forum- so I did both- please delete one if required. Sadly I am pretty sure I have written of my 2017 tracer 900. I have managed to salvage some parts from the bike namely: Heated grips ( on MT09 bars) Akra Ti full exhaust Nitron R1 shock Shad topbox. I am looking at buying a 2018/9 model which I understand has the longer swinging arm and narrower bars. originally I was looking at buying a tracer 900 as I could put the salvaged bits back on it. But I have been informed that the shock wont fit and I will need a new mounting plate for the topbox. So with that in mind I started to look at the GT. With that comes questions. I am not that bothered by the paniers- if I kept them they might get used once in a while, but i would consider selling them, is there a used market for them in the UK? Is the rear GT shock on par with the Nitron R1? on my current bike I have the R1 and updated fork springs and it handles ok but I would like to get it a bit better. I wonder would I be better of keeping the rear shock, selling my R1 and buying some front cartridges? I guess what I am asking is the GT worth the difference when the only real benefits seem to be QS ( which you can buy) Cruise ( not sure if you can buy, but not that bothered, heated grips ( which I have), luggage (I'm a bit indifferent) and the rear shock) Thanks in advance

  9. Hi All error code I have a 17 reg tracer(uk) when stopping to fill up the engine management light cam on. Rather than pay the dealer £30 i got a Bluetooth obd and Yamaha adaptor cable. All good and it popped a p0132 to do with the air sensor. reset it and all is good but i would like to know some more details and if anyone actually has a list of all the fault codes Thanks
  10. Guys, I will post a proper review (when I have finished my full testing!) but here is a quick review. I bought an MRA double bubble screen- its shorter than the stock screen and looks way sportier. my main journey is a commute into London which is 20 miles of motorway then the rest town riding. I am 5ft 8inches with a 29" inseam and the seat is in the low position. Due to my previous bike experience I tend to lean forward. I have removed the stock handguards and replaced with Acerbis which I think makes a big difference with the buffeting. I have a Shoei neotec (which I think may be a size too large) and I ride with Mackie earplugs. My main concerns are getting the quietest journey possible but also I HATE the buffeting - my last bike (triumph sprint RS) had no buffeting at all - in fact I don't remember any as bad. First Journey: screen in the lowest position. buffeting so much better almost gone, noise much better, I would consider this acceptable if I had to. speeds travelled upto 115mph. I found that if I sat up really straight the noise became slightly quieter. if I ducked low it was blissfully silent. However the lack of backache (from the RS) was replaced by some neck ache) Second journey: scree in the top position Buffeting very slightly worse but not worth worrying about but noise worse. neck ache didn't seem to be there. didn't feel feel as good but couldn't tell you why to be honest. next journey will be in mid position. I did wonder if using the lowering links to lower the bike but then putting the seat in the high position with the screen in the low position could give me the best of the bad bunch . I reckon this screen could be good for a 5ft 10 rider and its cheap as well
  11. I have the Acerbis and the stock screen and they clear it with about 4 -5 cm I would guess
  12. bunyip, that changes the whole look of the bike, making it look a lot sportier. It looks really nice. There is a post out there where a guy makes his own screen from scratch and posts videos on how to cut and bend and finish the screen. I really dislike the standard flat screen. Having swapped the original hand guards for some acerbis guards I find that I have much more clearance so I can have a wider screen at the bottom and the wind noise I quieter as well. I was toying with the idea of buying a MRA double bubble screen and trying that but I try buying a FZ6 screen and using that as a template for a custom build screen
  13. I had my first decent journey today ( a jaunt into London) I found that the wind noise was much quieter than with the standard guards but I was getting a bit more numbness in the hands. But (and this is a big but) I have got new gloves and jackect that may affect this and also suffer from a rare form of migraine brought on by stress (of which I have loads at the moment) and one of the symptoms/side effects is numbness and pins and needles so I am on a bit of a a hiding for nothing really. So I think I will fit the bar end weights that came with the guards and see if that makes a difference
  14. I bought my Givi engine bars from them as well. Excellent service!
  15. Blobbs I don't really understand your post. Anyway the replacement extender arrived so I fitted both. I can now see so much better. I still need to do some fiddling and may try the left hand mirror raised rather than extended. but the view is so much better. I need to tighten the bolts a bit as the right hand mirror was a bit blurry over 70mph but I would rather have blurry vision than clear views of my elbow!! all in all a very good £5
  16. So at last my Acerbis have arrived. They look nice and sturdy and seem well made. The LED inserts screw in and the actual LEDs can snap out allowing me to put some orange lighting gel between the LED and the inserts to turn them into indicators. There were a selection of bar weights so it all looked good. But why life is never simple! The tracer has inserts already inserted into the bars. so I took these off. But then the actual inside of the bars are threaded and the insert wouldn't fit!So I ended up putting the original insert back in and then just using an allen bolt to tight the guards on. they seem sturdy enough but there is no fixing at the other end. If needs be I will use one of the original brackets to fix it at that end to make it rigid. The guard is opaque grey plastic, but can be painted so I am thinking of getting some lava red spray paint and painting them to match the rest of the bike. The lights seem quite bright even though they were running off a 9v smoke alarm battery!!. The clearance by the screen is about 5-6 inches so when the bike is on the road I will interested to see what (if any) difference it makes to the wind noise. hopefully it will also allow me to make up a sportier wider screen. The bike also seems much narrower. so far - without a road test I am very happy pics below http://i.imgur.com/Y1Sc7Uo.jpg http://i.imgur.com/iZ4qQ2p.jpg http://i.imgur.com/cAIJt3k.jpg http://i.imgur.com/DzOnKvl.jpg http://i.imgur.com/DM8STZ5.jpg
  17. well no pics as such and limited good and bad feedback the bad feedback is that they sent one correct item and one incorrect item (m10-m8 thread converter) so I could only fit the left hand mirror. also as I had the engine sliders off with no new bolts I couldn't road test the bike. but sitting on the bike it seemed a really good improvement. BUT here is where it gets interesting! this was in the position of raising the mirror up by 25mm. but if you look by the mirror knuckle you will see a rubber cap, pull this back and then you can undo the mirror there and insert these adaptors. this then extends them out 25mm. this worked really well. plus you still have the option of adding in the extenders at the bottom for the height as well So when I get incorrect item replaced that is what I will be doing. then I will take some pics. well all being well the links below should show the one I have fitted http://imgur.com/Y1Sc7Uohttp://i.imgur.com/iZ4qQ2p.jpg you can see that these push the mirrors out by 25mm . Due to needing some engine bolts I haven't been able to road test them for vibration yet but when I can I will try them in the current position and the "raised" position
  18. not being (too) pedantic but the Oakdene is in Wotham Heath . Wednesday is a big biker night and also attracts a lot of police attentionI often used to get stopped on my way commute home from work :-(
  19. Wessie I got the humour and knew you would see it coming right back at you! Johan I do that journey from time to time when I go to Excel, but being a tightwad I thought I would make my own light set up! this is based on experience of my last bike which was an old sprint RS which I loved but had terrible lights (the commute down 7 mile lane was horrible) So what I actually want is various lights such as the hand guard indicators, indicators with DRL for visibility and then some decent cree lights that are low down for illuminating the road. I want these on a switch but also linked to the high beam so that if I flash the highs people know about it. but on the subject of the handguards I have just bought some Acerbis Dual road black guards. I have then bought the LED kit. I was just going to buy the cheap £30 guards but I liked the fact that you can take the spoiler off the Acerbis. I was also going to buy an amber LED strip to insert but thought I would rather but the proper insert as its shaped and then put some lighting gel in front to make it amber. Oncer I get around to fitting them (along with all the other bits that are sitting in the garage I will post some pics)
  20. Not a fan then wessie??But then where you live its mainly horse you need to worry about Lol, where I live Ive got the urban mummy with 4x4 all the foreign lorry drivers on the M20/A20 (not to mention the immigrants baling out) and the commuting Audi/BMW brigade. so yeah I'm thinking with Hand guards with indicators, indicators with inbuilt DRL and then an extra set of Cree lights for night. Let the fu**ers say "sorry mate I didn't see you" then Lol
  21. For those in the UK I have just bought these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-MIRROR-ADAPTOR-KIT-10MM-LEFT-HAND-THREAD-CONVERT-/271914330927?clk_rvr_id=869400488410&rmvSB=true only £5.95. I know they are silver but a spray of matt black will sort that out. I am hoping that the 25mm (1 inch) will suffice iff not I will give the extender/ raisers a go
  22. The problem I have with the last ones is that they only mount on the bar ends (and it looks like I might have to remove the bar weights which would increase the vibes) another one I have seen is this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Acerbis-2140450001-Dual-Black-Handguard/dp/B001KODHFU/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1437268254&sr=1-2&keywords=Acerbis+Dual+Road+Handguards which don't have the inbuilt led but can have them added . I have read that with a bit of dremel time you can fit a cheap LED strip from ebay in the slot. so if I can find some orange/amber LED strip I could be onto a winner! https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0738/8501/products/Guards3_large.jpg?v=1422593506 is a picture of them on a street triple I think. these are looking quite good to me, but I am tempted by the angular practicality of the x tarmac guards . It all comes down to the size I think, as ideally want a screen without that stupid cut out!!!
