It was a very noticeable change. The Versys had different noises and never sounded like that. It was such a change that it prompted me to insure oil levels were correct, I even changed the oil early. It sounded to me like a sticking valve would in a car.

2015 FJ with about 4k miles, just starting getting noisy about a month ago ( sounds like valves when you are short on oil ). Had to bring the bike in for the handlebar recall today and they said they would listen/order the part. According to the service guy, Yamaha says they've had no failures due to this "noise", it's just an annoyance. Very annoying if you ask me.

The bike is away for the winter but I was always under the assumption that you could remove the ABS sensor and then use the standard front wheel dolly ( on the bottom corners of the end of the fork ) to raise the front wheel for removal, is this an incorrect assumption? I've got about 4k miles on the bike and am thinking of swapping out the stock tires in the Spring.

In reading through this thread, I certainly hope that my dealer just does this without asking if there is a "noise" from the cam chain. This is a new bike for me and, while I can pick up bad sounds in a car very easily, this bike makes a lot more "new" noises than my old one. I'm no noob as far as working on my own stuff but I couldn't tell you if it's the cam chain, regular chain, "unique triple noises", or the transmission making any of the noises on the bike. Riding season is short up here so I will probably try the dealer in the next week or so and see if they will entertain this TSB and when they can do it.

I've been looking for a larger foot for the sidestand, even thought of how I could make one. Motowerks makes a really nice one for the Versys but, alas, only that model. For about $16 US and a 3 week wait, I think this is worth it. Looks about as good as any of the other ( $50+ US ) ones out there. I ordered one.

To the person who asked if the G2 works with the factory heated grips, the answer is NO. The factory heated grips come already on the throttle tube and their is no real way to remove it without damage. I did notice how the G2 cam works so it may be possible to shave the stock ( or heated ) tube to the same cam. I didn't feel that adventurous at the time.

Just did this mod yesterday, I found pegs on E-bay for about $8 ( a PAIR ), so cheap I thought it was for 1 peg. I have 2 pair now. Good quality, took a short ride and my size 12 boots feel much better than on the short little pegs that came with the bike. Will be doing OEM Heated grips, adjusting the suspension, and designing a shorty windshield this weekend. Still waiting on the Givi monokey racks.

Just did this with some older KTM guards and noticed something interesting. On my bike , the wires front the switches go in front of the tree on the right and behind on the left. The right side has more slack. In looking at various photos in the forum, it looks like they are routed differently on each bike. To me, it makes more sense that they be routed in front of the tree to match those annoying tabs on the handbar clamps. Thoughts?

Just rode the bike from the dealer @ 35 degrees and the stock handguards just suck. Wearing my normal cold-weather gloves and my fingertips were frozen, never had a problem with the KTMs. I have KTM guards from the Versys and I can mount those. I laid them out on the handlebars for kicks and it looks tricky around the front brake fluid reservoir. Pictures of placement would be a great help.

Get a new Red 2015 FJ-09 tomorrow. Planned additions/mods, mostly from my '09 Versys, are : - CRG Bar-end mirrors, perhaps remove hand guards and replace with KTM guards. - Steibel horn. - Givi Monokey racks ( on order ), Givi 46L cases. - Connector for Battery-minder / heated jacket. - Heated grips ( also on order, Yamaha ). - Will wait on the seat, folks said the Versys seat was bad but I had no issues. Hope it is also true for this bike. - Front Fender extender, will glue/tape on ( no holes here ). Used same strategy on the Versys and it held for 7 years...why change a good thing and I can't stand drilling holes in a new bike - I also have a Powerblock that I might use, need to see space under seat, as well as some accessory lights. Looking forward to this bike, it's been at the dealer for the past 2 weeks while the snow/rain/sleet persisted.
