  1. He decided to leave us on his own accord and deleted his account on his way out the door.
He did post some good info and hopefully more people will step up and post more good info.

I've been on many forums, and left some due to selling the vehicle I was there to discuss, but I've never run across a situation where my old posts were deleted upon leaving. Is there a way for the administrators to not delete posts from a member that leaves? It seems to destroy the meaning of the post, especially if the person leaving was the OP. I'm just wondering if there is a setting that could be changed to leave posts intact.

@memphomaniac Please, read my post that you actually just quoted. He deleted his account, and also went in and deleted all of his posts. We did not delete the posts or his account. I agree, it is strange and I haven't seen that happen before and unfortunately, I cannot get posts back once a user deletes them.

Moral of the story is, when a moderator PM's you and asks you not to break a certain rule, don't fly off the handle and delete your account and all of your posts.

  2. Can someone post the link to those mirror extenders ? It seems GSORider is not a member of the forum anymore... TIA
Odd that when someone leaves the board that all their posts get deleted.  Very strange indeed.  GSORider had some good information on this board and it will be missed.

Got another short (34 mile) ride in. Odometer now reads 102.

The California Science windscreen is a HUGE improvement over stock.  Much less buffeting and a far quieter ride.  The FZ6 footpegs felt better on the feet, too.

@cameron12x Can I post these pics on the front page? Awesome looking bike!!

  4. ??? Sorry Cruizin, I didn't quite make myself clear when I stated a legit version.
As it clearly states on page 1 pic 2, "...without the written permission of...." So, why not write to Yamaha Global legal to seek permission? What could they say? Shut the forum down before saying "NO!" as pay back?
Commercial interests for both parties. Tell them... we'll buy 10 copies for every 50 members... Sell 9 for those that prefer a printed version. You are going to do that anyway.
What if they say ok? What if they say buy 50? Tell them you'll have 1000 members before too long! Work it both sides.

It was a suggestion. Unclear, yes.

    Cheers,
    Steve

As a sales manager, I totally appreciate your line of thinking. But no way that Yamaha will go for that. And I'm worried about Yamaha shutting me down as it is. They have shut down other Bike forums before and I worry about them seeing FJ-09 in the domain name as it is. In fact, I have a couple of other back up domain names in case a ceast and desist letter comes my way.

Thanks again for the suggestion Steve, I wish we could.

  5. 8-) Hey Cruizin, would it be permitted if ALL members pay you US$XX via paypal and you PDF a legit version and make it available to members to print what sections they require?
I'm not going to tear down the engine or gearbox (I've done that to far too many V-twins in my time...) but, servicing forks & swingarm bushes and the like would be great?

Say, I'm taking a stab here...how many members are on this great forum? Pay you X amount each... Your time to scan a legit version to PDF and make pages available to download & print?

Like I said, I don't require the whole book.... Just the details.....

    Cheers,
    Steve

HEY! Let me be clear, thought I was above. I DO NOT SCAN NOR DO I SELL OR SHARE SERVICE MANUALS!

AS STATED ABOVE, there is a guy on ebay in the UK who does and he is working on getting a service manual and will be selling PDF's, like he does fr the FZ-07 and FZ-09. I never said that I will be selling this crap. Don't wanna get sued and thrown in jail.

  6. 1.It will not be a legal copy.

2.It will be for sale on EbayUK, the guy has FZ-07 and FZ-09 copies for sale now.

3.The FJ-09 forums do not condone, or suggest the use or sale of pirated copywrited materials and such materials will never be posted on this forum.

But some might share some ebay links when they appear.
  7. Today, I removed the license plate holder and mounted the plate directly to the plastic underneath. Really looks like it was made to be there.  license.jpg

I also replaced the license plate light with an 1 watt led and modified that light housing so it doesn't bobble around.....at all!! Much nicer.

Nice! Any chance you could do a couple write ups on that in the "How To" section? Great idea man!

  8. How did those bags work out? Gonna be able to keep them out of the wheels at speed? I am a fan of softbags, Wolfman and Giant Loop. They tend not to break if you drop your bike.

  9. thought that I would start a thread of interesting stuff popping up for the FJ-09 on Ebay and Amazon.

Feel free to add on, but please keep it to Ebay or Amazon parts. In fact, please keep them in here to reduce clutter on the forums.

Carbon Fiber? Rear hugger mudguard for $92.50

  10. YAMAHA Part Number is 5GH-13440-50-00. This is the same oil filter as the FZ-07 and the FZ-09. Yamaha is doing us all a huge favor by keeping it simple!

The following are also all compatible. And before anyone starts pointing out a favorite, remember that more important than brand of filter or oil is actual Frequency of oil and filter change.

  11.     It's all good Miz. Please don't put words in my mouth and I won't get snarky.  As for saving internet users from themselves. Good luck.   The first thing most save up for is a pipe.   Me , suspension. (That doesn't make them wrong. Different priorities, is all)   If there is a glaring flaw with  the FJ it will be obvious to some ,but not others.   If say, The power delivery was abrupt in A mode and made smooth transitions from brakes to throttle at the Apex hard. For me, that's a problem.   My stunter friend would say,"whats the problem", as  he snapped up another wheelie.(..and he parks it in the corners)   If he bought a new ride his first priority ought to be frame siders, case guards, and life insurance ,but those would be my priorities, not his. (He thinks I'm crazy too.)   I'm with holding judgment on anti lock brakes till spring. I expect to stop faster upright under less than ideal conditions.   If I'm not comfortable doing so, they are being bypassed with a two brake line system.
Not entirely sure when I put words in your mouth, so don't get snarky with me. Seeming you have so many problems with this bike, I recommend finding another bike to meet your needs. Best of luck and farewell internet forums. People like you are the reason I never join them.

I hate when people get pissy on my forums. Keep it up and your both outta here.
