  4. Hey Husqy Do you by any chance live in Waterloo?
I often see a red FJ ride past my office which is located at Erb & Westmount Road.
Seeing that bike ride by definitely helped push me in the direction of the Tracer!
    Cheers,
    Rob

    Hey Rob,

That is almost definitely me smiley.png

Live in Kitchener but work right beside Uptown Waterloo. When I do ride, I go right by Erb & Westmount to get to the office

Happy to hear I helped bring you on-board! Maybe we can grab a coffee if we get a break from the winter. She's stored in the garage, but I break her out if I get a dry, +5C day on the weekend.

You would actually be the third person I influenced into getting a Yamaha triple. Two buddies of mine picked up the MT09 and the XSR900 because they fell in love with my FJ motor!

    Cheers.

When we switch to the new forum software, the new forum will be getting a "member map" at the tp of the forum where you can place your pins on the map of the world, and then when a new pin pops up in your area (Ontario), you can click on their pin and send them a pm to go ride!

We will also be creating a new app called "Clubs'. A Club can be created with it's own forum board and these will be great for regional clubs that you can create.

    Good stuff coming

  5. Certain words just pop out at me when reading a post...  HaHa, just having withdrawls here, its been a week since I have been out rippin' up some twisties.

Yeah, there's a bunch of us ole VMOA, VMax Owner Assoc Members who have known each other since the mid 90's. Some still ride Gen 1 VMaxes, others ride the newer Gen 2 VMaxes, reflashed right at 200 RWHP. After 3 VMaxes I was riding a 2000 ZRX1100 and also had a 1996 ZX11 Ninja. I'm more into the 2nd gear twisties where some of them are much more into the high-speed sweepers. We meet up in May in Eureka Springs then in September at Deals Gap. Besides that, I'm riding the piney woods of east Texas and NW Louisiana. And since I'm only 1 to 1/2 hours below Arkansas I can be by Push Mountain, Mountain View and Mountain Home, Clinton, Hector, that whole area in 1 day. Ride right up Scenic Hwy 7 from Arkadelphia. So a 3 day or 4 day weekend in Arkansas is easy. Pix of the ole steeds!

Do you still have that ZRX-1100 ? That one is absolutely beautiful. I have always been fond of them.
  6. Well, a member on the Tenere 700 Forum test rode a Niken with a group of people. He said that everyone in the group loved the way it handled and that they all went 10-20% faster around the hgh speed corners due to the increased traction and confidence. He also remarked that it was cool to be abe to hit the brakes in the corner and not have the bike stand up.

He also posted some pics , you have to join the forum to see his post but it only takes a second.

  7. I talked to a few Yamaha dealers about this. They all said the same thing. NOBODY is asking about this bike. And none of the dealers are ordering any Nikens.

Yamaha will not discount any demo bikes for dealers, and dealers do not want to floor model a Niken and risk being stuck with an expensive bike that nobody wants.

This bike better perform in some currently unknown way. Or it will fail miserably.

What pisses me off is that Yamaha could have just released the Tenere 700 instead of wasting years of R&D on this three wheeled bike that nobody wants.

Someone is gonna get fired. Maybe an entire dept.
  8. In no particular order of preference;
    Pirelli Angel GT

    Bridgestone Battlax T31

    Michelin Road 5

    Dunlop Roadsmart III

Current Tire Rebates - I wait until they have a rebate and then pick up 2 sets so I always have a fresh set waiting in the garage.

I love Rocky Mountain ATV. Awesome Tire rebates, fast shipping, amazing customer support. They are like Revzilla was before Cycle Gear bought them. @rtaylor522

They send in the Tire rebate for you when you buy, and then you get a mastercard gift card in the mail, tires end up being dirt cheap https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/l/Current-Tire-Offers?il_medium=main-tire-offers&il_source=home#motorcycle
  9. The First line oil filter is made by Rocky Mountain ATV and I have been using them over a year. No probs, good quality and the internals look even better than stock. Oil Filter fits FZ09 , FJ-09, MT 09 and MT 09 Tracer and MT 09 Tracer GT

  10. After being in two crashes, I have no problem spending money on premium gloves. I ride with Held gloves. Held makes high quality gloves with strong materials such as kangaroo leather and Kevlar.

I have two pairs of Held gloves. Every serious rider should have a pair. Some of the best ever made.

  11. http://www.visordown.com/motorcycle-news-general-news/yamaha-files-patent-mad-three-wheel-v-max
If it is ever made, a three-wheeled Vmax would be a monster.
Ive ridden both the Gen I and Gen II VMax, it is indeed a monster.  If Yamaha can get it to lean like the videos of the Niken and maintain the 200hp punch - Look Out!!

A face lift wouldn't hurt either, the Gen II was HIDEOUS.

id love to ride a Vmax version of this. It would probab;y cost around $20,000 USD but what a bike that would be.

Spot on, this is the wrong version to put three wheels on. A cruiser with bad ass engine and three wheels to grip the corners better? That would be one hell of a bike.
  12. If U.S. MSRP is set at $18K and we add $1300 or so for destination and dealer fees, and $1700 for T&L, we're looking at $21K all in.  I had such high hopes for Yamaha on this new model - after all, how much could the parts to "trike" an FJ09 cost?
Maybe the plan is to recover development costs in the first year so if Niken is not a success, they cut their losses.

A year old MX5 Miata is looking better by the minute (I do love a/c in summer.)

That is a ton of money. Maybe the price will fall lower?

  13. UPDATE! Yamaha Niken to be priced USA $16,000 MSRP. Price of the Yamaha Niken in the USA is MSRP $16,000 USD.

Ok, Yamaha Niken pricing in Hong Kong has been released at HK$168,800, according to Yamaha MLT Hong Kong.

That would equal $21,500 USD in the USA. DAMN! Or 17,600 in Euros. WOAH!

But, Lets remember that freaking everything is expensive in Hong Kong.

As Motorcycle Magazine ponts out, in Hong Kong the Yamaha R-1 is priced at $198,000HK, which translates to $25,200 in USD.

The R-1 does not cost $25,200 in USD.

Using the math or REAL USA pricing, the Yamaha Niken would have an MSRP of around $18,000 USD, or around 16,000 Euros.

This is alot of Guesswork. A lot of Guessing by alot of people going on.

Would the Yamaha Niken sell at $18,000 or more? It better handle like no bike ever produced.

Time will tel, and hey, by the time this bie hits the USA sales floor, our freinds around the world will be posting their reviews right here.

Please post more MSRP reports below in this thread.
