  1. finally put the red beast thru its paces at the drag strip for this weekends Import vs Domestic races... Im racing in the bracket class(dial-in)... outta 7 passes tonight during test and tune I kept getting 11.5-11.55s @125mph in the 1/4 mile... funny part was the tech guy was pretty sure these little triple 850 motors will make the FJ-09 break 10secs in the 1/4mile ???... track was so darn sticky I could still see tire winkle marks left behind from drag radials- need to go another day when the prep is hardly done...

    avg 1/8 mile times was 7.45s @100mph

*** not stock gearing*** front is 15T not 16T(stock)***

    bike+me=625#...me=185#...Bike= 440#..

time to build one of these...

  2. Changed oil/filter...Re-Installed my wideband o2 sensor setup to see what AFRs the motors is running at the drag stripthis weekend ( POD300 display and Autotuner from Power Commander- this way it's universal, can use it on any engine, only needs power, ground and a 18mm bung for the o2 sensor)...

Also I thought of a nifty way to get a form fitting seat after I helped pour 2 seats this weekend for some drag trucks... tricky part is going from a drag racing seat to a little seat pad... just food for thought for those with picky behinds...
  3. washed the bike...then had a conversation eith the bike about a potential temp job coming up for work... I will be going down south to Charleston, NC for 2-4wks... the bike agrees with me about riding around NC... I have been working for MAHLE for the last 10+ yrs... we make industrial thermocoolers such as CAC(charge air coolers), EGRC( exhaust gas re-circ) for locomotives, military platforms, complete drop in modules ( Radiator, CAC, AUX coolers) for combines, 100ton dump trucks, etc...
  4. I suspect the price in the US to be around $12.5-13k USD...

I tend to automatically subject 20% off the EU prices as they usually include the VAT tax in MSRP compared to online stores which will add the taxes at check out when you add your billing/shipping info... still puzzled by the almost 580# wet weight... thats almost 110# more than the FJ-09... I was thinking it would be about a 60# increase over the FJ-09 due to extra wheel, few more feet of suspension and the triple tree unit...
  5.  How much of that cost is government taxes? The cost of crude oil does not change for different countries. Also, BP manages to sell petrol much cheaper in the USA

USA has a 19cent per gal federal tax and each state varies in state taxes.. Michigan is 26cents per gal of gas or diesel... approx 60cents per gal in combined taxes or about an extra $4-5 per 50gals

Edit: newish state law also says gas stations must be within 1 cent across a huge area... so if it's x amount at home it's gonna be same x amount 50miles down the road...
  6. I found that the Traxxion syringe worked better with the plunger seal well lubed (remove + dip in oil)... and even then it had a tendency to seize up a bit. I eventually just picked up a smaller syringe at a drug store... worked nice and smooth, albeit with lesser capacity. FYI... if you happen to run into this.
I agree with @piotrek... the traxxion dynamics syringe was difficult to use. I ended up purchasing a motion pro syringe and it is much better.

    thanks for the heads up!
  7. as for budget... I think $1000 is best all around cost... seems like majority of basic cartridge drop in kits(re-built OEM carts and send back orginals for core refund, springs, etc) and a basic aftermarket shock such as the RazorR will accomplish alot more than ppl think... Yes I know it can be done cheaper/expensive but you can spend alot of $ only to find out you no clue what to do... or you can go really cheap only to find out its not what you wanted or it dont work any better than OEM...then some ppl are like yall got spoiled delicate behinds and think the FJ-09 suspension is cloud 8 outta 9 ?

as for budget suspension I needed more suspension control/adjustment to suit my light 185# frame and riding style 50/50 street/track...

      I went with
-ForksByMatt DIY kit- springs, carts for both fork legs
    -KTech Razor-R rear shock
  8. Ok so with my 2017 I cannot do this myself? Can a dealer? Admittedly the 2017 isn't bad, but there is room for improvement.
AFAIK no the 2017 do not allow for user to do this adjustment via the dashboard... also AFAIK I have not seen any postings about the dealership using the factory tool to do this adjustment on the 2017s... there is a thread on building a code scanner for the 2017s using a OBD CAN scan tool but dont recall it being able to help with APS adjustments
edit: @ morky It cant hurt to ask the if next time the bike is at the dealership with the gas tank off for some services since its already " right " there...
  9. Burned a tank of gas this weekend since it was finally a nice enough to ride all day... orderd the Traxxion Dynamic fork tool kit for my upcoming suspension upgrades...also got my quote from ForksByMatt, very nice price ? on the KTech Razor-R rear shock BTW... it now time for my money to find a new home ? but in return I will get satisfaction and pleasure of "sorted suspension"...
  10. the biggest pain is removing the stock exhaust... IIRC you gotta have the bike on the center stand to get the stock exhaust out... it dont hurt to invite a buddy or two over with a case of "adult juice boxes" for an exhaust install to maybe help hold the exhaust pipe gaskets in place? ... it is a good idea to wipe the new exhaust down with mineral spirits to get rid of any grim, finger prints, oils, etc before firing the bike up to hear the new sound... then go hammer on the throttle for a tank of gas to color the exhaust pipes ?
