It's actually easier because you don't have the long feeler to deal with. The sidestand is super easy and can be done without even looking. Kick the footpeg backward with your heel and the sidestand is right there under your boot. About 30 seconds of practice and you'll see what I mean.PRESUME THAT MAKES IT EVEN HARDER TO GET THE SIDE STAND DOWN ?

They fit and work just fine! A nice upgrade of the slippery OEMs.I have these being delivered tomorrow. I will chime back in on how straight forward the install is. Several FZ09 guys had left good reviews, so we'll see tomorrow. They only cost me $11.50, so if they don't work out, at least I'm only out a few bucks.

It takes some persuading on the left side, but the spring WILL fit. Once it's all setup, it's simply wonderful. I'm glad I went through the trouble as the vibration isolation, non-slip surface and look are just perfect!
I went the S Ten route and thought it was kind of a pain. Took like two weeks to get all the parts from Babbit's Yamaha with $20 shipping. Had to grind both pegs down 5mm as mentioned, I couldn't get the left peg to fit properly with the spring so I gave up and left it in the down position. Bottom line is they were not made to fit this bike but, the first time you get caught in the rain with the stock pegs you'll realize why you need something different. Seems like most pegs are only as strong as the pin that is holding it in place anyway. At some point I'll swap them out for something made for the 09 but, for now they feel pretty good.OK, what I'm referring to is the part of the peg that surrounds the hole the pin goes through. Had to grind about 5mm off the bottom to get them to fit into the bracket. Not a big deal really. Yes, I drilled out the rivit on the one side to get the stock pegs off, and used the pins that came with the S Ten kit.

I don't have any play where it slots into the rubber bumper at the footpeg, but yes, the whole bag can be lifted up maybe 1/2 inch. Perfectly secure really.have any of you encountered a bit of play with the bag mounted on the fj? I brought one of my 2004 fjr bag to the dealer to try it out on the floor demo and while it worked fine installing it, There was a little bit of space all around the rubber gromet near the passenger peg and the whole bag could be lifted up like half an inch or so. Nothing to disengage it really.
It's just my first bike with side cases and I'm wondering if this is normal or if I should look for some kind of fix.
On a side note I am one step closer to getting my bike as I've been approved for financing and the top case has been ordered!

There's a perfect fix for those windscreen knobs.I have had the windshield adjustment knobs back out. Thankfully there is a clip at the end of the threaded part that keeps the knob from falling off. Something to check often. From the riders perspective the windshield knob on the left is the one that has the three positions to lock the knob into. That knob has been the one that backs out. The L bracket that is part of the assembly will rattle around if the knob is loose. Other than that I haven't had any other loose parts. It's always good to go over nuts n bolts periodically. I try to do that with my service intervals.

Interesting, I've not had any issues with bolts, screws or nuts coming loose at all.Fellow FJ 09ers, I've come to the conclusion that just about every bolt on this bike (any bike) needs to be given a dose of loctite and a good retorquing. If the button heads on the trim's 1/4 turn fasteners get loose, check the clip they lock into. It's the usual suspect... -
I've got the Givi D2122S on mine as well, with FJR side cases. Got it up to 125MPH today and it was stable as a rock with no steering damper. Of course, I was leaning forward behind the screen at that speed.hi, i installed the D2122S about 2 months ago and at normal cruising (130km/h) speed, this screen is a really good improvement.
At higher speeds (so rather occasionally) the FJ got more sensitive to steer shake even with steering damper turned to increased damping compared to normal. i have the impression that the FJ stock screen does better at high speeds in fact in regard to bike stability.
any suggestions to get best of both, good wind protection and still good stability at higher speeds?
thanks Luc

Any advices to prevent my 12v connector to always unplug because of bumps/vibrations? Is there aftermarket 12v cable that can lock or something? For now, I'm using electrical tape...
I was able to use a small rubber strip along the side and it stays in tight.

Actually, I did a lot. At 525 miles, changed oil & filter, installed Shorai LiFe battery, OEM heated grips, KTM handguards (I hated the Darth Vader stockers), California Scientific "shorty" dark tinted screen.

Ha! Your box came out better than mine! But like yours, mine came out unscathed!
I got mine today! Smashed box, but the windscreen is undamaged. It looks great, and I can't wait to try it out.
-
Very nice! I'm loving mine in the lowest position.
Hey @smiley , look what I got! Did yours show up yet? This screen seems to be about 30% thicker than the OEM screen, and the lines really compliment the lines of the bike. Can't wait to get some seat time behind it this weekend and check it out. Thanks hawkeye... -
The SuperTen pegs are the best solution for me. Vibration reduction, traction when I stand up to stretch and look great. Very happy with this farkle.I look forward to hear what you think after you mount the super tenere pegs. they look like a great solution

Yes, the list looks perfect. The peg mount on the left is actually adjustable, but the right is fixed. Angle is perfect when sitting. It takes some work as you'll have to grind or cut off about 5mm from the new pegs. Then fitting it all on the bracket takes some fiddling. When you've got it done it's pretty tight and wants to bind a bit on movement, but spraying some penetrating grease on the pivot pins and spring made it all work great!
The parts list is what I copied off of my invoice. Peg angle should work fine, but as soon as I get them on I will post a reply. Clint already has his mounted and has been riding them a while, maybe he could chime in here.Is that parts list on the st pegs still complete as far as you know?
Does the top of the peg angle work out when sitting?
Seems like a good solution. Thanks much, Bill

Easy fix nicely documented by Ty.
Your oil pan was cracked going over a *speed bump*? Man I didn't realize these bikes were that low.Today I installed my new oil pan to replace the one I damaged on a speed bump.....

As long as you can get 3 out of 5 wafers to line up, you're good. Just go with that. Remove the other two. Doesn't feel any less secure functionally with the key. If someone wants to bust the lock and they can do with 3 wafers in place, they'd succeed with 5 as well.Hey all, its been a while!
I did a quick search for the lock cylinders, and the little chips that allow you to re-key them. Yammy now has a set for sale for the top case part number 2PP-F81C0-V0-00, that will also work for the side luggage! For the $30 bucks I figured I'd give it a whirl. Alas, my cylinders used up all of one size quickly.
I'm not comfortable trying to grind the chips like some folks have mentioned... SOOOOOO...
Any chance you other guys might have this re-key kit? Maybe we can set up an exchange for the chips and help each other out?
I've got both side cases and 39L top box working with the ignition key by simply swapping the wafers between the 3 cylinders.

Certainly a fair question. I own both and just compared them on top of each other. The Ermax touring is about 2 inches taller than both the OEM and the D2122S. The Ermax also has a "bubble" center compared to the Givi which is more sloped back. Regarding noise and protection, I prefer the Givi D2122S much more than the Ermax touring and certainly better than stock.@clint , why do you think this performs better than the ermax touring? They look very similar to me and I don't know which to try. I don't suppose you have any photos comparing the 2? Thanks

Do you get any buzz or vibration through these? Aren't the pins on the FZ and the FJ the same? What dimension on the pins did you have to change?
I've used the stock OEM pegs, FZ6 pegs and now Super Tenere pegs. The stock pegs are buzzy and slippery in rain. The FZ-6 are perfect really at a great price point! Good vibration damping, comfortable and not slippery. The Super Tenere pegs provide the same, and are better looking.

REASEMBLE AND YOU’RE DONE! No longer is the oil pan the lowest portion of the motorcycle!
Absolutely fantastic, and hilarious write-up! BTW- it's too late for you, but performing the low profile drain plug modification also provides similar results.
-
I've not heard of anyone having an issue once the "low profile drain plug mod" is done. I modded mine 10 months ago and can tell you that the catcon and header pipes are both lower than the drain plug now.I'd like to swap the pan for the new one, but it looks like the exhaust covers several nuts on the pan.
I might do the low profile drain plug mod instead:

Agreed. I've been riding with my Neotec for 2 years now. Love it!Purchased a Shoei Neotec in the anthracite metallic color a few weeks ago and have now ridden in it a few times.. Well made of high-end materials and extremely comfortable. Ventilation very good for a modular helmet, has a drop-down sun visor, and is equipped for Pinloc visors for anti-fogging. Its not a cheap helmet, but in my opinion, very much worth it..

I'm 6 ft (or 1.83m) tall. Again, this screen does not create a bubble of still air, but simply reduces the turbulence and noise compared to stock. How tall are you ? I'm 1,93m and I have a Puig Touring screen and I'm not entirely satisfied.
-
No, the air hits my helmet about eye level. As you can see from that one picture, the Givi is about the same height at stock. I wasn't looking for a "still bubble", just less turbulence and noise. Much of that has to do with your height and helmet.Looks great. Clint I see from a previous post you are 6ft? Does the wind go over your helmet so you are in a 'still bubble' or is just nice air flow? And merry Christmas from the UK! -
Mine came to just over $100 delivered. You can't get a Calsci shorty or Ermax delivered for that! Also, GiviUSA and US dealers typically charge a lot more than Givi shops in Europe. Check out the price for this simple Versys 650 screen at Revzilla, then the same screen in Europe. I expect this will hold true when the D2122S becomes available in the US. Another nicety about this screen is it's NOT flimsy. It's thicker than I expected. Givi makes a quality product and I'm quite happy with it.ahhhh, shipping on that one is pretty brutal. Plus I can wait till probably June or so to change my windshield
Now!! The box suffered a bit in transit, but the windscreen came out UNSCATHED!!! Good thing they had that "FRAGILE" tape on there!

Ebay from Italy. Givi D2122Sso where did you get this. My google searches find nada!
Givi USA says they won't get them until February at the earliest.
