  1. New tires! Roadsmart 3s as the Road 5s were a miserable experience with cupping and ramping after 2,000 miles. Oh well, I've got a tire machine, so "Quit your bitchin!". I truly view tires as consumables and don't think badly of Michelin. I think I'll try more rebound, yet I didn't have this problem with Roadtec 01, T30 Evos or RS2 that were previously fitted. I was running 36F/42R as my girlfriend is usually rides pillion. The Tiregard TPMS is a good system. I've mounted the sensors inside the tire rim using Doran Manufacturing valve stems with the lock ring.

Mine reads "SET -", but that is not what it does.  It took me by surprise, but I caught on.  I may have to change the markings.

"SET" does indeed set the speed and "RES" does resume.  But the acel and decel functions are swapped.  I don't know if I installed a pair of wires incorrectly, or what.

No, you got it right. Mine is identical. Set - sets cruise speed and accel. Res - Resumes and decels.  That's just the way the Brandon CC works anyway. Same controller, I understand, as the McCruise.

  3. Aerostich Darien Jacket and Pants. Goretex gloves and boots!

I'd rather ride in beautiful weather of course, but if it rains, I enjoy it! Not need to stop, just keep on going. I absolutely love riding in a downpour, totally dry and protected. My own little cocoon.

I had started an earlier thread wherein this group gave some good insights about a strange fastener that holds the front side panel on... I will paste that link below.  As that thread evolved, we started to discuss swaps of LED flashers instead of stock, and I think that  a separate thread makes sense.

Here's why- like others I hate the big orange pumpkins that appear on US bikes.  So I did some research using the always reliable Youtube.

This good fellow does a lot of work on his FJR, and more recently his FZ 09.  I watched carefully, and decided to order the Yamaha accessory LEDs that he installs in the video.  I like the look and the position light + brake light functionality.

I had my eye on that set of LED flashers for some time, but the reported failure rate scared me off.  The video link above is for a Yamaha comfort seat, not the LED flasher install.

  5. I am looking for comfort pegs for my passenger that I can close when I am running alone. What would you recommand?
I bought these to add a couple of inches legroom for my partner. Very happy with them! Got mine in black.

  6. Hey everyone,
Planning to do a couple trips this summer. 1 of them being from Toronto down to Tail of the Dragon.

I have the yamaha hard cases, that each fit a full size helmet, but I was thinking it might be nice to get a good sized tail bag as well.

That way I'm not cramped for space and I get a backrest out of it.

Any suggestions? Looking for something 30L or larger.

  7. @clint ... if they cant see the blaring white LED headlights... they aren't going to see any indicators. They are very visible from the sides. To each their own. I understand the visibility concerns, but I don't think these have much of an effect on it. Also, everyone should ride under the assumption that nobody can see you and plan escape routes and emergency maneuvers accordingly.
    Yep, all points well stated!
  8. I’ve had those on my FJ for 2 years. You can see them from the front fine.
I too have had them for a couple years. I think they are less visible at night with your brights on than in the day. I can understand the everlasting concern of visibility, but to be honest, I can't think of a situation where someone facing me really needs to know if my indicator is on or of a situation where this would be a safety concern.
Well they are also running lights. A nice pair of prominent LEDs increase your conspicuity.
  9. I also ordered flush mounted Turn Signals which will be protected by the engine gaurds if the bike ends up on the ground.
I got them both installed. Few before and after photos to see the Lights head on and a close up of the decals. Took all of 45 mins to get the lights and the Decals on.
