Really grateful for all the advice, and thanks for checking in @stumpy. I wish I could say the mystery is solved.
I finally had some time to look into this again over the weekend. I inflated the tire to about 40psi and sprayed both the tire and valve stem generously with soapy water. I was not able to detect any bubbling. But it's still losing pressure- down to 25psi today.
My plan now is to start working down @2linby's list, although I admit to being a bit a newbie when it comes to maintenance- I don't have a ton of confidence or a ton of tools. But some of these things seem pretty straightforward and I'm game to learn.
so did you have a bath with your rear wheel yet? lol... just hanging by a thread waiting for your conclusion.

Stumpy, I had Terry redo the seat on my Super Tenere on a ride-in appt. Nice guy who is meticulous w/ his work. After a few hundred miles found the foam to be too soft and felt like the wings were collapsing. Ended up w/ a used Russell (nirvana!). I had Seth Laam redo the seats on my FJR and Ducati Multistrada and will have him fix the Tracer seat.
Rod, the Multistrada 950 had perfect ergos for me. The Tracer is a little more "compact" but I had adapted by the end of the ride today.

those are 2 other great choices...definitely on the right track.

We have options... but we naturally end up gravitating to places with best prices and service, and so FortNine wins almost every time... for me anyway. We also have (some local to GTA for walk-in) Royal Distributing, GP Bikes, Parts Canada, Kimpex etc. Twisted Throttle gouges and no longer offers free local pickup... but sometimes there may be no better choice.
Out your way, you have Motostarz and Bayside Performance just to the west. I've ordered from both, but shipping is usually pretty expensive. There are probably other options.
don't forget Pete's superbike for tires. have bought 3 sets from them now. 613 motorsports in Ottawa seems to be an up and comer

Kind of hijacking here but: I was in talks with Bayside re: suspension upgrades, but he would never give me a straight answer. He lost my business because of that.
i got my Penske rear shock from them...they seemed alright to me.

@Cruizin....do i detect another motorcycle forum for you?? I can't wait for the manufacture rides ...if they have them this year.

If it was me buying a new tracer it would be the non-GT model. I would use the money saved for a good Givi top box and panniers, mc cruise, heated grips(integrated OEM) and some suspension goodies. Quick shifter means nothing to me but being able to put a helmet in the side case means way more.
There has been some great deals on non-GT models lately

Hey @Cruizin! Do these ladies ride Tracers? Lol. My wife wonders what I'm looking at when I say "I'm reading up about my bike"...she looks over my shoulder and says ya right.
I'm not complaining ...just laughing on how I have to explain myself. Ya got pay the Bill's some how.

i have done both. comfort in riding from the shock wouldn't be as good as a good seat. the shock improves the ride as in the bike handling better. the replacement of the seat will be felt every moment you ride.

someone's bitter...i'll welcome wordy back to the fold..always has interesting insight to riding with his experience over the years. just lower it and enjoy wordy.

I'm not the type to go through bikes or vehicles every few years, my previous bike was 10 years old, my dirt bike is 14 years old and my daily driver truck is going on 20.
I'm hoping that maybe in a few years Yamaha will revitalize the FJR with a lighter, sportier chassis with lower CG and lighter steering.
I’m waiting for a tracer M10 combo...that would get me all fired up!

My plan is to give it another 5 years and see what is available in 2025.
That’s some serious self control...

I too wish I had some project or upgrade left to do to my bike. I have been looking for something, ANYTHING - but the best I could come up with is order some 2" blindspot mirrors and a nano-glass screen protector. - SAD.😢
Well...time for a new bike.

Yeah, I love the pics of seats that came from Terry's. I don't want to go without my bike though. I should've taken care of this over the winter. How long does he take typically?
I've always like the versys, I'll mention it to her. I've been trying to push an SV650 on her. She isn't going to listen to me though, I'm just along for the ride.
Just give him a call. Terry's Custom Seats is the name of his company. You can get him to use an existing seat pan for an an additional charge then he refunds it back when he receives your original seat. Great couple to work with.
Hey look. There is Ontario Fj09/Tracer
in Canadian FJ-09 Owners
