  1. Welcome to the forum

I have a 2019 900GT because it was one of the most comfortable bikes for me ride after having 36 pieces of metal put in my neck. I traded my 2014 S1000rr in on it and broke my heart, but the Yamaha has been a great replacement. Look around for the nice one you can find and the more suspension up grades the better!

Those actually are the Storz Performance wheels in that photo, so we’re thinking the same thoughts.  😀  About $1,000 less than the Dymags, and the more I look at it, the more I like the look of the wire wheels.

Did you do the chain drive conversion on yours?  I think I’m perfectly happy with the belt, but would love to hear pros & cons of other options.

No, I did not do the chain conversion, but it sure looks good. The only thing I think I remember about problems with the conversion is chain sliders have to be added or the chain and swingarm don't play well together, especially when the rear suspension is raised. Stortz can give you the details on that.

I would like to pick up a set of wire wheels also and keep my 17" Marchesini in reserve, Stuff is sure starting to get hard to find and expensive for our XR'S.

  3. When I installed the Spiegler lines on my 19GT, I was not happy with lever feel after vac pump bleed. I shoot the lock off my wallet which I don't like to do. I had the dealer bleed them hooked up to the computer and that did the trick. The dealer is able run the ABS pump and it gets all the air out and fully flushes the ABS system. They said they went through 3 bottles of Yamaha brake fluid in the process.

  4.  All joking aside, ride her and enjoy. I would recommend some braided brake lines, can't tell by the pic's if that's been done. Also pull the fuel tank so you can look down the throttle body and check the two screws that hold butterfly to the throttle shaft and make sure they are not loose or cracked. If ok, put some penetrating Loctite on them. More than a few XR top end were wasted when they fell out.

I went with ‘Thanks’ as a reaction, but Like, Thumbsup, Haha, Confused, and Sad also seem to apply…

I’ve already started down that rabbit hole, and I can see where you can throw an obscene amount of money at these.   I basically bought this for the cost of the upgrades that have already been done!  😳  My wife didn’t fall for the pitch that the bike was effectively free, but she’s pretty good-natured about my moto-spending.

Now that you have the wife on board with your Fast Orange build🤣  You need to speak to Dan at Hammer Performance for the go fast parts for motor build. We also need to get you a set of 17" Carbon Fiber wheels and other bits from Twin Motorcycles in Belgium. Don't  worry about the shipping, the wheels are really light.

  6. That's a clean looking XR Scotty!

I have the same year and color (fast orange). I spent way more money on the bike than any sane person would admit. Olins 852 rear shocks, X front forks with K tech springs and inserts, Ohlin steering dampener, Marchesini racing 17" front and rear wheels, Race Spirits long horn air intake, Brembo 4 pot rear brake caliper, Drag Specialties engine mounts, primary chain conversion that was run at Daytona (Believe it or not they were clocked at over 150mph on the banking in the draft with a completely stock motor). Then there is the motor work, Hammer 1275 big bore kit and head work, Zipper red line cams and all the goodies. End result is 110HP and 91ftpds  at the rear wheel (the guy that built the motor and tuned it said he could have got more out of it but wanted the motor to stay together and the bike still to be enjoyable for everyday riding)The end result is a bike that weighs a little over 500Lbs dry and is a blast to ride. Always gets attention when I ride it because most people don't know what it is.

Aftermarket performance parts are starting to get hard to find and expensive. HD has dropped a lot of pieces  from the parts catalog but E-bay has a good selection. If you have any questions about the bike PM me and look on the XR1200 owners forum.
