  1. Lol, actually the rim tape is orange but that's a quick fix to get color coordinated. Thanks!
  2. Quick pic from yesterday's test ride up to the top of Mt. Umunhum overlooking the bay area.
  3. I've kept a pulse on that site for a couple weeks now. One of the best classifieds around!
  4. Take a tight right hand turn for example, you could: a) sit center/neutral on the seat through the turn b) slide your butt, torso, and head to the inside of the turn. Or what I'd consider sportbike or road track style. c) push the bike down under your body (butt slides over the left side of seat), outside elbow up, weight outside peg, and sometimes counterweight with inside leg out. Supermoto style. Backing it in is a whole different level but yes would incorporate elements of style 'c'. I like this style with upright bikes like the FJ09, 525EXC, FZ1, etc. (though the fz1 likes to be ridden sport style as well).
  5. Just got back from another 60 mi loop up one our local mts. I like to ride flat track/supermoto style on tight twisties and was happy that the seat allowed me to keep this style w/o issue. Great seat!!
  6. Heh..heh! Yeah I saw that one, looks like they lowered their price finally. Thanks!
  7. Ok, so I did the seat swap this morning and here's my initial impressions/observations: Road the bike over to the bike shop which is about a 30 mile highway ride. By the time I got there my butt was starting to hurt from the stock seat. Swapped out the seats, Corbin seat clicked right in nicely, and off I went. Within the first mile I could tell that I now sit 1-1.5" higher on the bike which will take some getting use to but its actually good. I'm 6'2" so the extra leg room is welcomed, plus I have a helibars riser on order which will come in handy and help maintain the feeling of being in the bike (not on the bike). Anyway, after about 5-10 miles my biscuits were super happy with the upgrade and by the time I got home my butt wasn't hurting one bit. Matter of fact I almost didn't go home and wanted to keep riding but the honey-do list awaits. Thanks again to all of your encouragement on the decision. Now I'm going riding again!
  8. I was going to swing by Tuesday but dont want to chance he'll change his mind so I'm going to stop in later this morning.
  9. Here's an update that motorcyclegear.com is still slingin' killer deals. Just picked up a new Shoei GT-Air helmet $100 under the best internet price I could find. I love companies that actually answer the phone and talk to you. Great customer service!!
  10. Just picked up my first GT-Air and I LOVE IT!! Been a long time RF-xxx owner since Shoei fits my head.
  11. I've always been a long time Shoei RF helmet guy going back to the RF800 through RF1200. I just picked up my first Shoie GT-Air and though it isn't snell approved, I am super impressed. BTW, I picked it up for $100 under going rate over at motorcyclegear.com (my first purchase from them and very happy). Now need to mount a Sena and I'm ready for some group rides.
  12. I'm still wearing my Astars SMX plus boots. My feet are still in love.
  13. I love the comments on the Roadcrafter 1pc. I'm currently looking for my first used suit (size 46L if you know anyone selling) to try out this year. I've got two sets of leathers so coming from these, my main concern is abrasion resistance which the roadcrafter has proven to have. I figure if I can test a used suit this year that next year I'll get one tailored to fit.
  14. Thanks Scotty! Remember, I'm giving up my set of stock seats which I'm still unsure how much will cost to replace. I'm going to put a wanted ad in the classifieds for a set (hopefully on the cheap) so I can do some back to back comparisons over the next month. Anyone have a set they're no longer using and willing to part with? If so, shoot me a pm. Thanks!
  15. Man I really like the skin on that seat. Do you have any close up shots and material detail? I like that it's a matte color and not shiny. I'm definitely going to swing by in the morning and grab it. You guys are getting me fired up!
  16. 1) Definitely liked it for the short period I sat on it. I then when directly home and sat on my stock seat which amplified the difference. 2) short of some typical leather 'wrinkles' the seat looked like it had been treated with leather conditioner and in great shape. I'm more concerned with how much it will cost me to buy some stock seats (in excellent condition) in the event I didn't like the Corbin in the long haul. Im not too worried about the red piping and you're right, it would probably fade into the background in due time. The other thing I'd like to get an idea on is how much Corbin (or and independent shop) would charge to shape the seat to my butt and re-upholster the seat in all black. According to the bike shop, the previous owner was close to 300 lbs which probably took a toll on the foam though it still feels nice.
  17. So I've only had my 2015 for about 10 days and though the weather hasn't been cooperating I have had a chance to ride it around town for 30-40 mile rt (~200 miles total). From this short period I can tell I'm going have a hard time with the seat for longer weekend rides. For reference I'm 6'2" 220lb (w/o gear) and this seat feels very much like my KTM seat (i.e. soft 2x4 lumber). There's a local bike shop that has an FJ09 for sale (not on consignment) that has a Corbin seat so today I decided to drive down at lunch to just try out the seat so I could feel the difference. I only sat on it for 5 min continuous and could tell a big difference. Was it like sitting on a cloud? No but I could definitely feel an immediate difference over stock seat. So, not being able to spend the day riding on the seat its hard to tell how much I'd like it. But with that said... Just for giggles, I asked the salesman if the shop owner would be willing to sell me the seat if I brought in my stock seats (in very good shape)? Fully expecting him to laugh me out of the shop the guy made a call to the owner who is willing to sell me the Corbin for $100 plus my two seats. Below are pics of the seat which is in generally good condition but the red piping is killing me. What would you do? Thoughts?
  18. I've only had my FJ for a bit over a week but the bike came with a Givi screen and I'm very happy with the wind protection around town and on the highway. Sometimes I rip down the highway at 80-85 and experience only minimal buffeting of the helmet. Screen is in the low position and can be raised another 1"+ which I'd guess would be even better. Btw, I'm 6'2".
