  1. I suggested to one shop that they replace the basket under my YES and they him-hawwed around like well, if that’s what it is I guess, but we’ll have to check it out, etc.  I don’t want to be unscrupulous about it but at the same time, I want this sort of thing covered like betoney has mentioned.

I think the Tracer 9 is the FJR replacement.  The apparent fact that Yamaha is developing a radar adaptive cruise control for the Tracer proves it to me.  Plus, the obvious fact that the Tracer does everything better than the FJR.  Apparently the public is moving away from the monster motors.

I’ll take the FJR dash over the new 9 any day.  That thing is hideous.  Thankful I have the 2019 GT.

I always have my wife stand on the rear brake pedal and leave the bike in gear. Add a cheater bar to the wrench.

I suspect that could be potentially harmful to the transmission. I'll leave it in neutral for now.

  4. I purchased an 08 gixxer 750 a few months back that is a track only bike.  I’ve ordered new sprockets and chain.  I’m working on getting the front sprocket off and IT IS STUCK.  Unless that thing is not lefty loosey I’m at a loss.  I put a broom handle through the wheel and swingarm and it broke the handle.  I’ve sprayed with WD multiple times.  I’m afraid the previous owner put the permanent loctite on it.  Any other tricks?

How did Grattan go? I did 1 track day at Tally on the FJ.

It was cold, but I liked the track a lot.  The tracer did fine, but scraped a feeler in one corner and kind of spooked me.  I probably could have pushed harder after that but just didn’t.  I picked up a dedicated track bike since bc I’m just not willing to sacrifice the Tracer.

True there are several routes in that area that provide equally satisfying twists and scenery, but the the Dragon is a great experience.
I was there a week after you and and rounded a corner to this surprise

That’s crazy. I wonder if any photographers got the incident from start to finish.

Barber is fun.  I raced there with AHRMA a few times.  Little Tally and CMP were fun, too, but I liked Barber better.

Just a thought about track days - I'd remove the centerstand before hitting the track with this bike, since mine touches down before the right side peg feeler on the street.

I'm heading to Grattan next week and even though I'm in novice I thought about taking off the center stand just in case. Is it just a case of taking out the two bolts with a "6"?

As did I before going with his flash; main point for me was he had built his on a Dyno with a 2019 GT900. If you look there are a few other folks that have felt the same afterwards- to rich, messed up ride modes and poor fuel mileage- I lost around 4mpg. By the time I got the bike to the MV Augusta shop I was willing to shell out another $300 for a good Dyno tune, which could not happen because his flash locked up my ECU

Ivan gave me my money back after trying to figure out if it was his tune or some other issue with my 2019GT.  Of course I had to send it back and he put it back to stock.  I was going to try 2 wheel, but chickened out.  All I want is smooth throttle but it’s not horrible so I’m not messing with it for now.

  9. First review is in from the launch.  Looks like it is what we expected.  Smooth, sporty, comfortable.  Just think it could be improved with a center stand, heated grips, adjustable windscreen.  But who knows.  It looks the part.  Now if the competition between Honda, Yam, Kaw, and Suz could actually bring the prices down that would be terrific.

Yeah, a couple of years ago when I was in that area, I found I enjoyed the nearby roads I'd never heard of more!

There is also the ridiculously low speed limit and enforcement on the Snail of the Dragon.

At the one end of the tail, there was an unmarked cop car sitting on the side, but as we rode by it seemed empty.  Either it was just a deterrent, or he was doing what we all do every once in a while in the woods.
