  1. Big cleanup today after doing 400 miles yesterday. Planned on about 250 but was having way too much fun to stop.

Part of my 'problem' was that my Garmin Zumo kept re-routing me to the next exit whenever I got on the highway. I checked all settings and don't see any reason for it to do that. Any suggestions?

  2. Based on the recommendations here I swapped out the rear stock tire today for a Pirelli Angel GT at 3850 miles. TC 2 and Mode 2 mostly. Not agressive, except maybe from a stop and quickshifting through the gears. Really surprised at how soft the center of the stock tire was once removed. Easy on the bank with a couple of unused gift cards from Christmas 🙄

  3. The front fork leg (41mm) is responsible for guidance and direction setting, maintaining a constant wheel track of 16.14 inches. Legally, that classifies the NIKEN as a motorcycle says Yamaha. Inside the front fork, there's only oil, with spring and damping duties handled by the larger 43mm diameter rear legs.

  4. I ended up buying the  KLIM Outlander GTX boot in all black and have about 1000 miles on them. I have a wide foot and these fit very well with no discomfort. I used them one day to walk the dog in the rain after I got back from a ride and honestly they feel like high top sneakers. I would definetaly buy them again for their comfort and how light they feel. The BOA system with twist n go lacing is a breeze to use with gloves and saves fumbling with regular laces.

I haven't ridden in heavy rain but the online reviews have one guy saying they were his only boots for an 8000 mile trip and he never had wet feet, while another guy siad he got wet feet because water got over the top. I guess its down to what pants you wear over them.

I searched forever to get a discounted price but ended up paying almost full price and have no regrets due to them been excellent. I'm really 11.5 in EEE wide footwear, my Alpinstars were 12.5, but I was able to wear 12 in the Klim's as they are slightly wider. Reviews suggest going 1/2 size up. I would buy them again.

  5. I placed an order for Pirelli Diablo Rosso Scooter 120/70-15 56S Fronts and Pirelli Diablo Rosso III 190/55ZR-17 75W Rear to find the fronts were out of stock are discontinued. Cancelled the rear as I would like to have a set, and may now try the Michelins.

I have ordered the mudflaps, should have them in a few days and will report back whether they fit the original Niken.

Maybe you might place one on a sheet of paper and draw an outline and include the dimensions for us that may wish to make our own?

  7. I can't tell you if the sport seat is much lower but did read somewhere that it is not as comfortable as the GT seat. I lowered my Niken with the Yamaha lowering link and needed more, so went with the Hyperpro lowering kit and am very pleased, (29.5 inseam). You could try and repack the GT seat with less material if going that route.

@Heli ATP - Do you know how rigorous & strict the enforcement is in Pennsylvania?   I’m wondering if it will pass if you show up in good faith, even if your blinkers technically aren’t DOT approved?

I purchased the 2019 Niken in March of 2022, and was of the mindset that it was inspected by the dealer who sold it to me when he registered it with zero miles on the clock. I didn't take it to be inspected till a couple of weeks ago when I found out it can only be inspecter from May to October in PA. I have been driving around with the blinking brake light (and no inspection) for over a year and haven't been stopped yet. I will see what happens next month when I go for inspection, somewhere other than a Yamaha dealer.
