  1. I made my comments based upon info provided to myself from a industry source ,that states yes there will be another niken and it will be the euro 5 spec motor and a general refresh .If however it does not happen ,I will just have to keep mine going until I pack up riding .
  2. There will be another niken .It will either be just a euro 5 motor transplant from the new mt/tracer models or it will have ,tft, better screen ,spun wheels for less weight ( taken from mt09 ),mt09 exhaust, other weight saving measures, new colours .There will only be a gt model .Tracer gt luggage set up .
  3. The cold has never really been the issue for me ,it's the combination of weather's that's the issue .However I think the coldest ride was freezing dog to the point of froze the clutch cable solid .
  4. So following on my top bikes are the niken ,buell Ulysses and Benelli trek .The niken because it does everything and has added a new dimension to my riding .The uylsees because it was by far the best fun ,sounded awesome ,best pillion comfort, pulled the best wheelies, was ugly and no one wanted to steel it lol,The Benelli was a love hate,Italian beauty, sounded fantastic going down hanger straight at Silverstone when it was working .It was fast, handled great,it had style,it did touring ,track days, commuting, when it was running .
  5. I've owned far too many to list but I will give it a shot Niken gt,ktm duke 790,BMW 1250rs,vfr800x crossrunner,Aprilia srv850,Yamaha fz800,Honda cbf1000,cbr1000r,Benelli trek1130,buell uyleeses,Hd vrcd night rod,Suzuki gsxr750,fzr 1000 exup,HD 1450 dyna fxd,rf600 Suzuki ,triumph tiger,Kawasaki versys 650 ,HD sportsters in various guises x3 ,Yamaha dragstar,Honda cg125, ok so that's back to 1997 so prior to that it's mainly a mix of 2 strokes but it's at least another 40 bikes according to my better half lol .
  6. It only 2 bolts so I did not bother taking pics of installation .I did it while on the centre stand and a piece of wood under the rear wheel .
  7. So an update after fitting the rear lowering link .I did not drop the forks through the yokes ,yet .The bike with the link fitted feels far more composed on the rear .
  8. So an update after fitting the rear lowering link .I did not drop the forms through the homes ,yet .The bike with the link fitted feels far more composed on the rear .
  9. Yes my pillions love the niken comfort .I only have a 29" inside leg and have managed fine by flat footing on the left side only. You can make it lower by fitting the lowering link which I have just done ,which probably makes 15mm lower. The effect of this link have made the rear handle better imho. You could either have your seat modified or if a gt model for a standard seat due to it being thinner .However the seat girth imho is the biggest issue and if this can be slimmed down at the cronyism sure this will be a big improvement .Another issue is very placement when coming to a stop ,ideally restricting of leg gives a straighter leg to the ground for support. The three wheels do make low speed manoeuvres with pillion easier.
  10. Over 3k miles on the pr4s and the fronts still look like new with no irregular ware patterns. The rear defiantly more ware but looks like it will do another 3k .
  11. I also fitted the puig screen with small deflector attached. My findings are it does a better job than the original gt screen, defiantly less wind noise and my pillion agrees. However it's not the perfect bubble and you can feel more air pressure on the outside of the shoulder area. That said you can get great fresh air into your lid without buffering .Cruising at 3 digit speeds is far better and feels less drag effect over standard .I will however be fitting spacers to the top screen bolts to tune of in better .
  12. I've decided to fit a puig touring screen to my gt which includes the additional mini top deflection screen . This is not so much for myself but more for the pillion comfort .I will report my findings soon .
  13. Has anyone any experiences to share regarding lowering the niken .Specifically have you lowered the front to match the rear and if he's by how much to make the optimum setting .Any help most appreciated .
  14. Interesting find ,I've used atlas in the past and they perform great .
  15. The bmw riders are the worst ,like a bunch of snobs lol .In general most do save or not .
  16. Welcome to the fold and glad your living it
  17. I'm used to shock changes and set up for racing over the past many years and imho there's more value in the knowledge than a specific brand .To this end when I replace my rear shock it will be with one from Mike Capon,s shock factory .It's called an M shock and is built to your requirement but comes with a balanced compression/ rebound adjustment along with preload while being sprung to required weight .Great value also 30% of the cost of a well known brand also fully rebulidable .
  18. Over 2000 miles on them now and they still look like new
  19. I've also found on the niken with the pr4,s that due to the profile differences between the A41,s that I still have chicken strips yet still travel the same twisty mountain roads .I will have to try harder lol
  20. Welcome ,it's ram mounts for me all the way because of the flexibility of position in various lighting conditions and as maxim says the standard mount is a bit far away from you .
  21. So top speed is electronically restricted to 129mph ,this can be removed on a ecu flash of you feel the need .Comparing acceleration to say the tracer 900 ,I'd say it's best to drop a gear to gain the same buzz .However it really wins in stability and high speed cornering .It's great fun to chuck it around the twisties ,it's a feel good grin inducing ride .It's great with a pillion also .
  22. So here's a 1500 mile update on the pr4 gt and pr4 scooter tyre combination .So a mixture of riding conditions and I'm happy to report no issues whatsoever and the tyres still look like new .You can tell the gt rear has a stiffer carcass so I've softened the compression a little and all's good .There's been no slides on wet white lines or tar snakes even cranked over .The only area I did notice is that the releasing agent does take longer to wear off .I've not even had the traction control kick in which did happen a lot on the A41,s.
  23. I can't see me ever selling mine until I'm too old to ride it .
  24. I've checked mine today and there are no signs of ware or rubbing on the inside of this part
