I have a Nelson Rigg tail bag that sits on the passenger seat.

Unfortunately I commute on my bike and the flattest spots in the parking lot are right next to the road with car and foot traffic all day. I love my locking saddlebags and I don't think I will own another bike without them for their convenience commuting.

I love my Nelson Rigg tank bag for easy access to electronics and first aid kit when I'm traveling, tho. I did my first couple of tours a little over 20 years ago with only a giant expanding tank bag for clothes, gear, and everything else.

I use smaller, top-load 23L cases for everyday riding. Rain gear, water, spare gloves an such, with some room for other stuff. Very convenient. For longer trips, I switch to 36L side load cases but use liner bags. Most road-side essentials then go into the top case, which is lightly packed. Not sure how I would deal with side load cases without liner bags. Terrible idea. 😁
