  1. You're talking about the TCS button that disables traction control. The bike will wheelie easy with TCS off. You can't turn the ABS off on the FJ-09. It's on permanently. As as far as I know, no ones figured out a hack to disable it.
  2. @basholland how much more power and torque would you estimate you have after that keychain upgrade?
  3. Typically about $1 / mile. (or $150-200 depending on whether you use synthetic)
  4. Was at a friends for dinner, and he told me about a horn he found in the discount bin at an auto parts store. Turns out, it wasn't compatible with his truck and he was going to toss it. Sure enough, it fit perfectly on the FJ. It's no air horn, but it's much louder and deeper than stock. I would rank the difficulty of this installation as: If you can't figure this out, you're too stupid to own a motorcycle. Also, you can't argue with free!
  5. Woah... it's a tie. Maybe we should split into teams and fight to the death! Race blue is closer to grey, so they can join us and give team grey the advantage!!!
  6. Removed the peg feelers and played with the suspension a bit. Can't feel much difference.
  7. WTH are you people arguing about bike colour, don't you understand some of us have a really serious problem: new FJ-09 in the garage for over a month, never ridden it, and I have serious PMS!! (Parked Motorcycle Syndrome) It's -23 C this morning, -35 with the wind. ARRRRRRG!! Ok, I feel a little bit better now. Oh good point. You don't know which one is faster yet. Don't worry, spring is on its way!
  8. Yeah people, answer the poll! Do you have fast grey or slow red?
  9. The only issue is that you need a really long extension to reach the nut. You also can't get it quite centered, so it's a bit tricky to get the leverage to loosen it.
  10. There's no way that clears the hand guards...
  11. Oh my!!!! Must have!!! Must Freakin' have!!!! I second that. This just convinced me to wait and see what comes this side of the ocean over the next few months. No need to rush and buy the first thing available. Me likey.
  12. Do you need to treat the cut with anything so it doesn't rust?
  13. I'm not a fan of the matte grey 'colour', nor the batwing hand guards, but that very shorty opaque windscreen really ties it all together! Are you going to paint the upper fork tubes matte grey/black too? To each their own. I love riding a 'batcycle'
  14. Your fender eliminator? Pics please and was it a kit? I saw the graves one on YouTube for fz-09 wonder if it's the same? I've got the Yoshimura FZ-09 fender eliminator on mine. Fits perfectly. Only difference is that the FJ has a longer tail. So with the FZ the plate sits right under the tail light and on the FJ it's recessed a few inches. http://fj-09.org/post/1556/thread
  15. Did the EXACT same thing as you only I also added my fender eliminator and the micro chicklet LED's like I saw on another guys FJ on hereThat was mine. Nice work. Love the look of the back now. Just waiting on my flush mount front signals to arrive.
  16. I was about to order the tinted shorty, but I live in Canada, and unlike @deersslayer I'm on an island, so a quick drive over the border to get it isn't an option. With shipping and USD to CAD exchange, it's over $200 for this screen, and that doesn't include any taxes that customs might impose. I think I'll wait. Also, after seeing some new pictures, I don't know that I love the look of it. I think going down as low as stock would help clean up the look and integrate it into the bike a bit more. Not going as low looks like it's on the bike, not part of the bike.
  17. Yea its the Cal Sci and yea its in the high position. I really like it. I like that its a little wider than the stock and since its not as high the air hitting your helmet is clear. I was disliking the buffeting of the stock windscreen and this one seems better. Did almost 100 miles today. I'm up to 700 and change. Interesting. Doesn't seem wider from the pictures. As long as it clears the hand guards, But if it's made for the bike, it obviously does.
  18. @cthruu the shorty windscreen looks nice. I'm debating it as well. Is it on the high position in the pictures? I think it is, but curious. Maybe the pictures are deceiving, but in the low position it looks like it would be significantly shorter than stock. Would love to hear what you think and how it compares to stock for performance and height. Is it the Cal Sci one?
  19. @yamaham wow, someone actually bought an NM4. I saw one at my local dealer and couldn't decide if I loved or hated it. Everyone who worked there was staring at it thinking the same thing. Is it true that it's like riding a lazyboy? I used to watch a lot of anime, so I recognized it from Akira right away.
  20. I did this tonight. I'll ride it for a week and see how I feel about it. It was a pain to get the bolts loose! Need a long extension and can't get it perfectly straight on the bolt. A fairly simple adjustment, but you need the right tools. I can't remember the size of wrench I used. 14mm was slipping. Are these the only imperial nuts on the bike? On a on a different note, I'm a two star junior member now! Woohoo! Sense of achievement.
  21. @cruizin with this summary, perhaps this should get moved to the garage
