What did you do to your FJ-tracer-gt today?
martyl replied to yamaham's topic in FJ-09 Tracer 900 General Discussions
Maybe it needs to break in a bit too. Depending on how much she weighs, that could take a while. Though at 375 lb total, I suspect she may weigh enough to break it in over a few hundred miles. Ha! Ha! That's 375 lbs between both of us and most of that is me. My daughter is a petite young lady... :-) -

Took my daughter on a 80 mile ride. She was a little uncomfortable on the Corbin seat. I think she's just not used to riding as I like my Corbin since I had it re-foamed to softer. Bike runs fantastic! Even with two up (around 375 lbs.total). The more I ride the FJ09 the more I'm happy with my choice. -

Here it is: http://r.ebay.com/Mq1DyR Today, I came back from about 150 mile ride. Low and behold one of the bolts that holds the foot plate was gone. I know I tightened those bolts down. Replaced the missing bolt and used some lock tight sealer on the bolt threads of all three. So if may be a good idea to check them. -

Update on my New Michelin Road Pilot 4's. so far I have a thousand miles on them. They're less noisy than when brand new but still noisier than the stock Dunlops. But man are they planted and inspire much confidence in the turns. Grip like crazy. Very happy with my choice of swapping to them. Re-foamed (to softer option) Corbin seat; Big difference! My butt couldn't be happier. No longer squirmy after 80 to 100 miles. Seat is still in breaking in mode so I can only assume it will get better yet. I put on a coat of the Corbin Conditioner. I really think that Corbin just did a complete swap out to the softer foam from my Corbin I sent back to them with the firmer foam set up. "Biker's Friend" medium luggage with lumbar support; WOW! This luggage is just darn great and the Lumbar Support is just the ticket to support my lower back. The medium size fit like a glove and because my panniers are top loading, I can easily access them without having to remove the Biker's Friend luggage. Quality product. "DZell" LED lights for hand guards in amber with turn blinker module; They look great and are very functional. The added visibility is a big plus. Adventure Tech mirror extenders; absolutely the best mod and least expensive Ive done. IMHO Yamaha should make this stock. Opened up my rear field of view to just about full. Last night I went for a spin as the temps cooled down to 83 at 9:00 p.m. Man! The FJ09 in,"A" mode is just a beast! I have much respect for this bikes torque. Could'nt be happier with my choice on buying this bike and believe me, I looked at allot of bikes. -
Once I had my first 600 mile service which included the throttle body sync, my FJ 09 ran smooth as silk.

First impressions of the Michelin road pilot 4 tires. They feel very planted in the turns. Execellent stopping control. Feel very confident with them. Haven't rode them in rain yet. I'll report on that later. Now compared to the stock tires I can say that the Michelins are louder. Maybe because they're still new? Time will tell. The "Dzell" Hand guard LED lights (amber/ turn signal module) Love them! Look great. Functional. And provide extra visibility. Heated grips. Tried them very early in morning on lowest setting (1) for about twenty min. Even in summer I liked that I could warm up my hands. The real test will be in Dec. here in Florida. Yes, early in the morning in Florida last Dec. my hands actually got painfully cold. Yeah I know, compared to you northern riders who ride in below 32 degrees I'm a wimp. ;-) I set the high setting at 8. Middle at 5, and low at 1. I'll play with those settings in Dec. Extra DC outlet. Like that I can have two plug in's now. Replaced Cam chain tensioner as per service bulletin. Well, I choose to have that done to be proactive. My original didn't make noise. Now especially when bike is warming up on the road it's noisy. Then it seems to quiet down. Bummer. Going back to dealer to see if they can tweak it. If it still does this after the dealer it's a manual one for me. Engine sounds so good when that noise isn't there. At close to 7000 miles the exhaust note just sounds more throaty in a good way. This bike is so flickable. Can't wait to get it up into the mountains. -

Had a bunch of stuff done on my FJ09 at the Dealership. Replaced the Cam Chain tensioner. Installed the, "Dzell" brand LED lights for the hand guards w/blinker module. Installed the Heated Grips. Installed the extra DC outlet. And Installed front & rear Michellin Road pilot 4 tires. Had them do the 8000 mile service as well. Whoo! Hoo! -

Looked at her as I past through the Garage. Work. Work. Work...:-( -
I read on the Adventure Rider forum that this issue from Yamaha is not being called a "Recall" but a, "SERVICE PER BULLETIN". Seems like Semantics to me but I guess it's legal mumbo jumbo.... I'm just glad that Yamaha is addressing this and seems like a good approach to the matter. IMHO all bikes have bugs. It's part of motorcycle ownership. I've always tinkered with motorcycles. As my daughter once said to me when she walked into the garage while I was messin' with my motorcycles, "Dad! Your drilling another hole in that motorcycle again!" ;-)

Man! Get well soon! From one Ural rider to another it must still be painful to drive the hack since it requires upper body strength? I have a 2010 Gear Up as well as. 1976 Yamaha XS650C, and as if this past fall the FJ09. If you get a chance, check out SovietSteeds.com Lots of great Ural stuff there. Cheers! -
Have the TB sync done. I did have my dealer do it at the 600 mile service and it did make a difference in smoothness of the engine.

I really like the LED hand guards. Do they blink with the directionals? How was the installation? Can you describe? Thanks... -

I have had the windshield adjustment knobs back out. Thankfully there is a clip at the end of the threaded part that keeps the knob from falling off. Something to check often. From the riders perspective the windshield knob on the left is the one that has the three positions to lock the knob into. That knob has been the one that backs out. The L bracket that is part of the assembly will rattle around if the knob is loose. Other than that I haven't had any other loose parts. It's always good to go over nuts n bolts periodically. I try to do that with my service intervals. -

With the weather here in Central Florida being in the thirties this morning, I went for a good three hundred mile ride. Totally clear blue skies. The FJ09 just humming along. I have to put heated grips on my to buy list. I really could have used it in the wee hours of this morning. I had to stop, grab some coffee and thaw my hands out at about 7:30 a.m. . Who would have thought that I would need heated grips in Florida. :-0 I rode around the Ocala National forest then headed east to Flagler beach. Rode south along A1A then back home. It's funny I'm getting some, "FJ09DF" or better known as, "FJ09 Delay Factor". Mainly because the bike looks awesome and there is no brand labels except for the Yamaha logo. So I get asked, "What brand bike is that? It's usually followed by, "Cool bike". I'm used to being stopped and asked questions while on my Ural Gear-Up but I didn't expect it on my FJ09... It's all good....
