  1. To improperly quote someone else on this board (I can't find the original post right now), "Those are specs of awesomeness..."
  2. Gave the bike a good washing and added a sticker to complement my Zombie theme.
  3. Love, love, LOVE them. I choose them initially because they had the "look" I was going for, was no wider than the handlebars, and could haul all my gear for my daily commute. I can carry 8 plastic bags worth of groceries in these things. Beer? Yeah, several cases. Waterproof, 100%. Trust me on this, I live in Vancouver WA and commute to Oregon daily. Yesterday I was so wet from the ride home, my gear wasn't even dry by morning. Solid mounting system! Reversible, so you can have them open forward or backward depending on preference. All in an aluminum package, which I prefer over a HDPE (plastic) solution.
  4. Finished the 4K topping off the coolant and then putting all the bits back on. Perfect day for a test ride, 60F with no rain to be seen. Took a nice 30 mile twisty route. Engine is running smooth with just a bit of a grab when in A mode. STD and B are super smooth. Heck it's so nice out, I even wore my new summer gloves.
  5. Waxed the tank, greased all the pivot points, and put my baby back together... well, mostly together. Still have to do tires, coolant checks, and put all the fairings back on.
  6. ...just curious... did you look into tweaking the APS? Was it in spec? I didn't bother. The readings for two and three were off by less than 1cm Hg and my bike idles smoothly. I figure I'll dig a bit into the APS if I see a change between 4K and 8K. I have some video of the gauges after sync, and can post a link if you want. If you do, I'll throw it up on YouTube.
  7. Just about finished the 4K maintenance today. Just need to inspect cables and lube point, then put everything back together. Throttle bodies were slightly off, but 1/8-1/4 turn of the screw and they lined right up. Too lazy to post pics. Maybe Saturday.
  8. @xlxr flagged something you might also want to check while you have access... check here. Thanks for the heads up. I'll check it out.
  9. Heh, I started my 4K maintenance yesterday. Not in a big rush, so I'm using the downtime to also clean the bike top to bottom as I disassemble the biker upper. Everything is apart and cleaned, probably get the throttle body and spark plug gaps done this week sometime.
  10. I can get my Katana lower than that... but when I do it with my FJ, well, it's pucker time.
  11. I am so sorry for your loss. Your story is beautiful.
  12. Glad to hear you are both ok, but sorry to hear about the FJ. It's even the faster red color
  13. ...shocking given the money involved. I am eyeing the Sargent ahead of next season instead.Filed a complaint with the BBB today, as well as disputed the charge on my credit card. I've called them, been put on hold four times for OVER 20 minutes each time with no one picking up the line. I've sent numerous emails to the "sale rep" with no response. Tired of dealing with these people.
  14. Wow. My experience with Corbin has been the exact opposite. It arrived ripped, it high centered on the electronics for the heating element, and I had to call my credit card company for protection because it's been a month and I can't get them to send me a FedEx label to RMA it. 2nd worse company I've ever dealt with, just behind Comcast.
  15. ...so is using electrical tape on the clutch side a good idea? How many have done this? I did the electrical tape on the clutch side. I used a single layer of the tape and my grips are close to dead even, maybe the clutch is 85-90% heat when the throttle is at 100%, at least in my opinion. So I bet if you had 1 1/4 layers it would be almost perfect. I set my grips at 1-4-8, and have yet to use 8 (waiting for lower than 40F). At 4 they are plenty warm for 50F when using Gortex riding gloves.
  16. How easy/difficult is the installation? I have the tools, but I read that getting the old grips off can be a PITAI followed this guys tutorial. They came off easy peasy. Skip to 9:09 for the grips removal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_9olQQd700
  17. Nobody seems to trust them plastic screws very much but their actually nylon and their pretty strong. Their designed to shear off in the unfornate event that a rider has a collision or high sides over the bars and through the shield. The factory brackets that hold the shields are usually made of die cast or some other light weight material that will easily collapse as well. Luckily I haven't done it but I've read some story's of guys banging up their rib cages on plastic shield impacts and I do know what that feels like. Speaking of brackets... this shield didn't come with any. Guess I'll be getting "creative" this weekend. Screen eliminates ~90% of the helmet buzz I was experiencing, but it flops around way too much for my liking.
  18. Put my new windscreen on and replaced the stupid ass plastic screws. Who the hell thought THAT was a good idea?!?!
