  1. I have been a loyal Dainese wearer since 1979 and I am in the market for some new gear.

I'd like opinions on the cold/rain proof capabilities of the following if anyone has them:

    Laguna Seca 3 D-Dry jacket

    Racing 3 D-dry jacket

    Tempest 2 D-dry pants

IIRC, this is known to happen if the rear wheel spins for a while without the front; the electronics assume there's a problem with one of the wheel speed sensors.

I don't remember exactly what you need to do to clear this with a 2017 model, but that seems likely.

That would make sense after a dyno run of course, I was a bit surprised when they told be the bike is governed, all the others they ran on the dyno were bouncing off the rev limiter but not mine.

It was a little sobering to be on the dyno straight after a Ninja that ran 309km/h top speed and this is at 1800 metres above sea level!

  3. This morning I was at a biker event and just for fun I put my 2017 Tracer on the dyno.

About half an hour after the run when I started the bike to go home the check engine light is on.

I had to ride home about 50km from the event, no change in performance, no funny noises or weird throttle responses.

    Any ideas?

As Gomer Pyle would say.. "Surprise, surprise, surprise!"

Got a call from the seller and the news is that it needs to come from Japan as none in stock so 2-3weeks wait time.

Think I'm going to chance it with the old one in the mean time. I'm reasonably confident that it is good enough to not leak but will take it on a short run and check for leaks at ever increasing intervals until I'm satisfied- JIC.

Reminds me of something a friend at a Yamaha and Honda dealer used to say back in the 80s:

    NSBOTJ

AKA no stock back order to Japan

  5. So, the dealer collected the bike this morning and within an hour called me to tell me the bars are fitted.

They said there was a spacer buried in the packaging that I had missed although I had everything that is in the instructions neatly laid out on the bench and nothing was missing.

The fitting instructions really are garbage, the spacer isn't on any of the pictures either.

I also got a mouthful about all the chain wax and gunk buildup at the front sprocket 😳

@andz- I know my left side TN2122s needed some persuasion to line up properly but it was not that far out.  I just needed to apply a little more muscle pushing the bars forward to get the engine bolt started and it was away after that.

I'd wondered if mine had received some abuse in packaging/transport to knock it a little out of alignment but yours does look way out!  Might be a returner as suggested unless you feel comfortable bending things into shape - if they appear to be bent out of shape in the first place of course.

They look perfect apart from the fact that they don't fit.

The dealer where I bought them is fetching my bike and the bars tomorrow, they said they can claim from Givi but they need to say that they were fitted by a qualified tech so they will probably put the bike in the workshop and say "well that's not right".

Unfortunately the Tracer is a no. I loved it and would have had it in a heartbeat.  However Mrs S didn’t feel comfortable pillion and as we go out regularly I need to take that into consideration.

I get a test on the GS next Friday but if it suits us both that’s what I’ll go for.

I was impressed by the Tracer tho and can see why you lot like them.

My wife and I aren't particularly svelte (as this seems to be the word of choice in this thread) but we ride 2 up 95+ % of the time and the Tracer is great.

We rode 2 up for 13 years on a 600 Fazer without any problems too.

GS? I've ridden one and don't get the hype, long done with twins in any form.

Australia has 4 of the most poisonous snakes in the world, as well as poisonous octopus and deadly stingers in summer.

At the risk of being branded a dick.... it's venomous, not poisonous.

Poisonous kills you when you ingest it.

Venomous kills you when it bites or stings you.

  9. I took mine off shortly after getting it because after riding a Fazer the bars were too wide to lane split comfortably, plus they look shit.

I fitted naked MT-09 bar end weights and all is good!

And, I never ride without gloves.
